Jess and her team completely changed my mind set about going to the gym and working out. I was in my early 40s when I first started working out at Whole Fitness and, until I found Jess, I had never been able to stick to any kind of fitness routine. I was at my heaviest, totally overwhelmed, and honestly at my wits' end. From day one, Jess put me at ease and made me feel at home. Whole Fitness isn't a typical gym and that's what makes it so special. It's a boutique, private environment where you never feel self-conscious, intimidated, or uncomfortable. I always felt safe, cared for, and supported. The trainers and the other clients became an extension of my family, and leaving that behind was much harder than I expected. After moving, I tried to recreate that experience and quickly realized just how rare Jess and her team are. I won't turn this into a complaint about other trainers, but it became clear that what Whole Fitness offers isn't easy to find. I eventually stopped trying to replace it and started doing virtual training with Jess instead because I'm simply not willing to settle for less than the best. If you're looking for a place that truly supports you, meets you where you are, and helps you build something sustainable, this is it. Today I participated in my wife's training session with Jess and she really made me feel the burn. She showed my how to isolate particular muscle groups that's I never have before. I always thought I was doing shoulder workouts like side raises and shoulder press correctly, but she gave me tips that really helped me activate the muscle groups with less weight than I usually use. She also made the workout fun and threw in some movements that I definitely haven't done and really challenged me. Since my wife started with Jess I've definitely seen the change in her and would recommend her to anybody looking for a trainer that really knows what they're doing.

But Rachel was very nice and gave great instructions for a beginner. The class was challenging but not impossible with a lot of alternate posses for a non flexible, no balance, and out of shape person. Instead of what I thought would be gongs and elevator music in the background, I was serenely lured into a zen like state by the boss, u2, and other classics. I didn't levitate but I'm thinking maybe next time. If you are looking for a fun class, with an instructor truly looking to help people I recommend this class. I am not really sure how these classes are suppose to go but I had fun and can definitely feel it the next day.

I explored my options and realized that I would like something between one on one training sessions and large group classes. I had a friend refer me over to Functional Fitness and I have been extremely please with it ever since day one (mind you I'm only a few weeks in). The classes I've taken range from small to medium sized, so it's still personal enough that Jermail or Justin are able to correct you if you are making a mistake and notice improvements. It's a great 45 minute workout and I would recommend it to anyone. If I could tell anyone looking into this gym one thing, it would be that when you go to drive and find it, it's in the back of the Warren Plaza, next to Anytime Fitness. There is a metal door with a magnet/sign on it. Hard to miss the first time you go.

It is a great workout and he moves slow enough for everyone to follow. He works with each person one on one and then moves around the group. It is fun and a great workout. I would recommend this to anyone. It is perfect for people who just want to workout or learn boxing. They also offer martial arts and kick boxing and all that jazz too. Plus the staff is really nice and they know me by name. That is pretty cool! They have beginner packages that are super affordable. Empowering Punch recently opened in Southpark Mall, and it is located next to Dick sporting goods…read moreon the second floor. To kick off their grand opening they offered free classes for the entire week. They offer personal training, boxing, yoga, trx, weight loss, and boot camp classes. The gym is very open and the public walking by can see everything that is going on inside. The thought of being a window display for mall walkers terrified me and almost made me turn around before walking in. I am glad I didn't though and gave it a try. The employees were friendly and our trainer teaching the TRX class was welcoming and made us all feel comfortable. After warming up I didn't even notice the people walking by and was too focused on the workout to pay attention to anything else. I am not a fan of going to group classes and often feel like I get a better workout by myself, but the small class sizes (12 people) didn't allow for any slacking off or feeling like you didn't know what was going on. Classes run $15 a class and I will definitely like to be put on display there again :)

I have been training with Grace for 3+ years and, somehow, I have turned into the person who looks forward to getting up and being in the gym 3-4 mornings a week! Before I started working out regularly with Grace, it felt like I was always dealing with some sort of injury - my knees, my lower back, etc. As someone who has always been active, I was so frustrated not being able to run as much as I wanted and worrying about pulling a muscle getting out of my car! Other than those specials, One to One isn't worth the cost unless you're a student at Case. The indoor track looks more suitable for rolling a ball as opposed to running on. The swimming pool is an extra fee and located in the Veale Center. The only workouts you can do here are all on machines since the space is so small. The weight room is sorely lacking too. One to One is good for a person who is into casual all around fitness. Not for someone who's more dedicated to one muscle area and looking for a personal trainer. Parking available in a nearby garage. One to One will validate parking as long as you remember to ask the employees before leaving.
