I loved this class!!! Class #5429 7/8 - 7/9 @ Riverdale. 6:00 in the morning! Pre Class Communications were great especially the text and confirmation with Jen. Jen and Mike were awesome with their knowledge, communication, instructions, PATIENCE, and thoroughness with the admin side of things. They always showed how much they cared along every minute of the experience while still being firm and direct at times. I loved how they did the verbal discussion and then the demos for each exercise. I thought it was really cool that they nailed every demo! That sounds silly, but nothing more annoying than people who are supposed to lead and can't back it up with the skill. Another great characteristic of Jen and Mike was how they incorporated their vast knowledge and experience with some of the nuances of owning a motorcycle with tips, or say your friends wanting to ride with you or group rides and the things to watch out for. They gave excellent follow-up drills/ideas/reminders to continue your training which I thought just added another level of value to the experience which ties back to what I said earlier about them "caring". I know this class with Mike and Jen has improved my motorcycle skills as well as showing me what I can do AND what I need to continue to work on to be safe and successful out on those roads. The woman who answered the phone is extremely nasty kept referring me to the website which has all incorrect information on it and when I read her the incorrect information instead of directing me to the appropriate place on the website she decided to treat me like I'm stupid and give me a very nasty attitude I couldn't imagine learning here with these people. i couldnt imagine the actual course you're paying money for is much better if you can't even ask a simple question on how to set up the appointment I couldn't imagine being able to ask questions about actually riding a motorcycle with them not responding in the same snappy rude way I think I'll be better off choosing somewhere else that interaction very very rude woman read more

I took my beginner rider course in East Orange with Bruce and Mike, and I cannot emphasize enough their spectacular coaching skills. They took what was (for me) a daunting first experience and turned it into an incredibly educational, fun, inclusive, and constructive environment. Each exercise left you feeling more confident and eager for more. At no point did I feel pressured or unsafe during the course, and the small class size allows for meaningful one on one attention if needed. Classes were ran efficiently with respect for student and instructor time. I left the course with valuable safety skills and a desire to ride again. I had been unsuccessfully trying to get my motorcycle license for a very long time. I could not get past the permit part, then something would come up and discourage me from continuing. I stopped riding for quite a while. Then I decided to bite the bullet and take a basic riding course to hopefully get my license once and for all. I found the class extremely informative and helpful in acquiring the skills not only to ride my motorcycle, but to learn defensive driving, which is key when riding a motorcycle in daily traffic. The two instructors, Andreas and Rick, were very personable, funny, and very, very knowledgeable about all aspects of riding and keeping safe. I wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone who is looking to get into motorcycling. It is a key element to being a better and safer rider. There is work involved, and a lot to remember, but it's definitely worth it. I came away with tons of information and lots of new insight into a passion that I have had for nearly forty years. Do not go if you have never been on a motorcycle before, this course is not for beginners as the instructors are very qualified to ride and have tons of experience but as far as teaching I'd give a hard pass. I would not recommend taking this course during the summer if you do bring a cooler filled with ice and waters. I'd also like to say Sheri is rude and that's okay it's her business and she can talk to you anyway she feels Like it. Motorcycle riding is nothing like riding a bike yet the instructors keep driving that mentality along with all the years in law enforcement that they have, yet Mike asked a young lady if she felt okay multiple times and I would say some people might be a danger to others when hear exhaustion sets in... I felt as a new rider that a proper break would take place to rehydrate but that didn't happen... I think my experience is just one of many and mine is as stated, and I did feel rushed and the heat was a bit brutal.. Many new riders not familiar with wearing a helmet and heavy cloths in n such heat could cause a issue, proper attention should have been made and maybe a break to cool down and hydrate would have helped.. I do not feel enough attention is given to the true beginners in the class many have driven motorcycles and just hadn't been licensed.j read more

I have attended the course in West Orange , or at least i wanted to attend. I was dismissed almost right away at the start of the course by snax ( i believe this is the name) I wasn't given the chance to get it right and one of the instructors (Richie) was ok with me to continue however for some reason Snacks wanted to get me to the private lessons. I even have a video that shows i was riding the bike with no help. And guess who gives the private lessons for an extra $150 - SNACKS. I felt like i was racially profiled and will also complain with the state on this. I called the office and like any other review the lady was rude enough to get me off the phone. Of course I am denied a refund which seems like happens all the time with this business. I will do my best to post reviews about my experience. Of course she will say that i was in danger on the bike but one of her instructor said it was ok to continue and didn't agree with Snacks . Even told me i was taken out too quick and didn't agree with Snacks . He of course changed his opinion after confronted by Snacks . If i failed the test or even drop the bike i would have no problem with being dismissed but finding a reason just to push for private lessons was bad business. I would stay away from this people and use something more professional . I also realized their Bio here says, they teach you how to ride . How would you teach somebody if you dont even give them a chance to get it right after couple tries. I tried 4 times and 2 times being np. I was taken out because of being rushed . They might be helping some people maybe at their other site which is not in West Orange. I am sure the manager will now defend the decision but it is ok to accept a bad decision by a bad employee sometimes. Taking good criticism makes your business better not worse . My suggestion to the business: rather than being this rude on the phone pls focus on your employees as this could have been a great experience with an other instructor. read more

I had a great time at this motorcycle school! I would really recommend the basic course if you have little or no riding experience. The instructor/owner Shari was a bit tough but she definitely knows her stuff! And she is big on safety, so get ready to hear A LOT on that! Lol We also had a second instructor Pete. He was great, very supportive and answered all my questions. The best thing about going to this school is that you don't have to take the road test at the DMV if you pass the course. And at the end of the course they gave us a little goodie bag with a bunch of coupons to different bike dealerships! I will definitely be using those :) Also be careful and make sure you are early. They will kick you out if you are even one minute late. read more

At the recommendation of a co-worker, I got my motorcycle liscense here. The instructors were great. They took a lot of time explaining and demonstrating the skills. A lot of focus is on safety and the need to continue to practice and learn post liscensing. You got a lot of practice and repetition time on the range, so the test is not so intimidating. The bikes were quite beat up, what with them being scraped up and held together with tape, but we're fully functional and safe. All in all a great way to learn and get your liscense, especially if you don't already have a bike to practice on or take the road test with. read more

I unfortunately had a horrible experience with my riding course and cannot recommend it to others. I basically grew up in a motorcycle shop and currently own a family business in the industry, always telling people that a rider safety course is the way to go so when it came time to start riding myself, this was the clear choice. I took the course during COVID so it was 1 virtual day and then two back to back days riding days crammed together. Upon arriving, we did a few minutes of paperwork and were assigned a bike. My motorcycle, as well as one other person's, wouldn't even go into neutral. My instructions were already different than the rest of the class, surely getting me off on the wrong foot. Even while watching demonstrations, the bike would idle very high out of nowhere, making me think I've touched the choke or throttle even though I hadn't, causing discomfort and anxiety. I was met with a constant "relax" from instructors rather than an offer of a working bike. Constantly having to hold in the clutch and keep the engine running evenly when it wouldn't work properly on its own was at the very least distracting but embarrassing even when other people are trying to cycle through exercises. Eventually I became super discouraged and worried about the safety of the bike itself, especially with the previous knowledge I have and my priority for safety. I ended up leaving the class in the morning of the second day. They had me fill out a form with an instructor (who made it very known they were a police officer) over my shoulder about why I was leaving the class. The instructor then quickly advised me to take private lessons. When I arrived home my husband called Shari the owner and asked why her website claims they have new bikes for safety purposes if the bikes don't even go through the gears. He also asked for maintenance records which she wouldn't produce. To be clear, these bikes would not pass the inspection to even take the test at NJMVC. She eventually agreed to a refund. While waiting for my money back I started digging and found others who had major issues with their bikes as well (idles too low to keep their bikes running, bikes smoking, bikes not going into gear) who were also pushed into private lessons. Turns out, Shari has her own company, aside from the non profit she is associated with, that runs these lessons. If you are new to riding I feel like you leave this class either spending a ton of extra money, or feeling dejected and turned off to riding. My biggest issue is how many people may have been turned off from riding forever after taking the class and may be feel too bad about themselves to even realize this class wasn't what they paid for or thought was going to be a safe and comfortable beginners class. Shari never ended up refunding me, citing the paperwork I was pressured to fill out as her reasoning. We will now be recommending our motorcycle clients go elsewhere if they are looking for a quality course. Be weary if you are a new rider. I wish I had just bought my own 250 to practice on instead of wasting my money on this. read more

Very pleased with the entire experience. I didn't pass the riding test my first time and obviously I was a little disappointed. However they set up a retest for myself and several others that had failed. They really work with you and honestly want to see you pass. Just wanna say thank you for the experience. read more

My husband purchased a 3-day class for me in the West Orange location I had three great instructors Alex, Frank, and Snacks they all rock!!! On day one it was Alex, and day two and three all three. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire course although I must say I was so nervous. The classroom setting was great and very interactive Alex knew how to break the ice and made everyone feel comfortable while teaching the importance of motorcycle safety. The curriculum was great and easy to follow it was slow paced and built confidence as it progressed. I feel better prepared for emergencies with the constant reminder and the instructions instilled in me, I know I need a lot more practice and I know I will consistently do so without any fear because I have that constant reminder of what to do and not do while riding. It was obvious they all truly care and love what they do. Each and everyone used teachable moments for all of us, even though one person did it... at times it was me. They did it in a way in which one wouldn't feel singled out or criticized yet reminding us how each one could cost us money and/or our lives. There wasn't a question they wouldn't answer and safety was their priority. The class was fun and informative, they were cheerful yet stern and meant business and obviously knew their stuff. I would gladly recommend the school to any and everyone. Though I'm sure all of the instructors are great, I would have to recommend Alex, Frank, and Snacks knowing what a great job they did for my class. PS I passed the class! read more

This is a "macho" putting down women center We were 5 women and approximately 10 men. Men had mostly experience in ridding motorcycle while women had none. By the almost the end of the first day, meaning 4 hours more and less of riding, Mike grouped he 4 women and were told that if we didn't pick it up he was going to send us home. I found his comment horribly sexist and discouraging when you are leaving first time They have you review a manual the entire morning when you are supposed to read on your own prior to coming to the course After that the class is over and you are out on a parking lot to do the riding exercises. There is one exercise after the other with more and more difficulty. There is no time to process one exercise where you were able to try 3 times that they pass you onto another one I do not recommend this course at all and will ask for my money back read more

Took a 2 day class at Rivervale location in mid-April (felt like February..) This class was not what I expected as it was almost all "Hands On" riding. The Instructors were top notch (Jess and Dominic) Shary the owner knows her stuff! I would strongly recommend this program to anyone looking to get their license and get on the road. Like most, how do you get a license with our a bike? This is the place! Word of caution - you better keep up! 2 people were pulled out during the program and sent home as it was clear their skills were not going to make it for the final day test. Tough Love! As a Graduate, I just picked up my new bike from the dealer yesterday and drove home to Bergen County from Long Island with confidence, knowing I was taught all the tips and fundamentals needed to make riding safe and fun. If I could give minus stars I would . I took the 3 day beginner course with a group of friends. Out of the six of us only 1 passed. The two instructors were unprofessional. One instructor came late one of ridding days and no show on another. The second instructor was a cop and just yelled at everyone like we were children. I would not recommend this place to anyone ! Called the company to let them know how bad our experience was and never even got a call back. Save your time and money. read more

I initially found this school online but as it turns out I also have a neighbor that went here too. When he and I were talking before I had actually been to the school he could say nothing but good things about his experience with MRC. If you are looking to get your motorcycle license I highly recommend going to MRC instead of learning and riding on your own or having a buddy teach you. It is really not the same thing and the techniques the instructors at MRC teach can and will save your life. I am not saying that you will be an expert rider when you are finished but you will have a fantastic base knowledge to start off your never ending learning experience. I initially scheduled my class during the summer but due to a family emergency I had to cancel. I was very lucky as I was calling the day before the class and Shari was able to find someone to fill my spot so I didn't lose my money. It did cost me an extra $50 when I did eventually take the class but I think it was great of them to work with me and have some flexibility. Come to the class with at the very least gloves, over the ankle boots, jeans and a long sleeve shirt, if you have anything else on their list, bring it. In my opinion the bikes they used in the class were perfect. They all had some damage from previous classes but it was all pretty minor and the bikes functioned great. I think they were all 250cc's which for the area we were learning in was perfect. My instructors were Alex and Bobby and I found them to be both extremely helpful and tough, yet still very patient. Yes, if you weren't paying attention or following directions they let you know it! That being said, they were great teachers that offered a plethora of helpful hints and techniques to make riding as safe and fun as possible. They gave attention where it was needed and we never felt rushed throughout each day. The curriculum was good and not only helped you towards passing your tests, it offered a great base for getting on the road and continuing your education. I am now the proud and happy carrier of a motorcycle endorsement on my NJ license thanks to the fantastic instruction of Bobby and Janet at the Riverdale location. Prior to class I had only been on the back of a motorcycle. The instructors can seem tough but it's something to be taken seriously. My boyfriend who rides recommended this place to me when we started talking about me getting my own license. He was licensed in Vermont and took this course a few years ago to get his NJ one. I won't lie, it's not easy, it takes balance, coordination, patience and willingness to accept and learn from constructive criticism in a very fast paced environment. In my class of 4 women and 7 men everyone was able to learn the skills and techniques needed to make it to the final road test portion. Only one of the women and one of the men were not successful in their first test attempt. I completely disagree with a previous post stating that women were treated unfairly here. Everyone was treated fairly and with respect and professionalism throughout the course. The motorcycle, a Suzuki GZ 250, was small enough to be easy to learn on and probably most anyone would have no problem handling it. Some of the bikes are a little banged up and you can see where they have been dropped by previous students, it even happened once in my class but all were in fine working order and more than adequate for learning. One thing to note if you are traveling from out of the area be sure to check which DMV you can go to. I'm from Jersey City so I needed to go to a different DMV location to get my endorsement. I was able to get it done at the Wayne DMV along with many of my classmates the same day I passed the test. If you are looking for a place to learn and get your license all in one shot this is the place. Please note I do not at all feel like I am ready to hit the road after this one two day course. I plan to use my new license to continue to practice the techniques I learned in parking lots and then maybe some side streets and then maybe move on to road riding during off peak hours in quiet locations. read more

Great experience...The coaches are very knowledgeable and really cool people with no ego's whatsoever...they took a 50 yr old guy with no riding experience and gave me the needed skills and confidence to hit the road and grow. Safety is driven in to your head in this course and now that I am off and riding I frequently find myself thinking about the instructor's safety points. Spend the money..learn and get legal..it's worth a weekend of your time. I have 300 rd miles under my belt now and getting smoother everyday. The only bad part of this entire experience is the DMV...3 HRS to get my endorsement. The riding school sets you up, no issue there, just take the documents they provide you with to the DMV and get your endorsement..should take 15min tops. But since the DMV is like watching paint dry, be prepared for 2 or more hours. read more
