If you are experienced or more comfortable, she will challenge you and talk more about technique. If you're nervous, she reads your body language and gauges your needs. Like any good teacher, she meets you where you are. She knows the system well and can advise you with certainty on the steps you need to take to get your license (when even the DMV isn't so sure). I highly recommend taking lessons with her! You can't go wrong if you're careful and listen attentively to her instructions. The person I spoke with on the phone was very responsive and pleasant to talk to. This made me feel relaxed and trust in the school. (I had a bad experience with a rude owner at another driving school and this was a welcome change.) The positive attitude of the receptionist and how she was flexible and understanding when I discussed my schedule was lovely. She actually called me back after I called and didn't leave a message and that was a nice surprise. The availability was great and since I had the following week off, I got to do all my hours in one week.

Amalia taught me almost everything I needed to know during my first lesson, including parallel parking and K turns which she made me do several times over until it was like second nature. She is very alert and will point out if something you are doing is incorrect, immediately teaching you the correct way afterwards. Amalia is very patient, kind and humorous, which makes the lesson very enjoyable and relaxing. She arrived on time and did the entire 2 hour lesson. I highly recommend Amalia!

The training was more knowledgeable than I anticipated. I initially felt anxious, but my instructor Mike presented the material in a way that it was more comfortable and engaging that the time flew by. The training was structured to address when I had some anxiety. I learned strategies to recognize my anxiety kicking in and prevent it from interfering with necessary maneuvers. This was genuinely helpful, preparing me significantly better than I anticipated. Highly recommend it.

On this basis, I would give a 5 star review. But, the contact/communication has been very bad. Emails flow through someone named "Jessie" who is quite slow to respond, sets short arbitrary deadlines, and since Mike unexpectedly cancelled a lesson on Dec 16, has not responded to numerous emails, a phone message, and even an question that I posted here two days ago about anyone having any recent contact with Shiftabove2. We offered to reschedule or take a refund and have not heard anything back in a month. This side, I would rate a 1 star. Again, Mike was excellent and if they would straighten out the communication issue it would be 5 star rating.

My instructors were Jose, Yasmine & Yonel. Don't waste your time here. Daniel is friendly and helpful and the only reason this place gets a star. They have 2 programs to chose from. For 2000$ you can read, watch practice videos & take practice tests on your own. You can also do this for free if you use your handbook and the internet. The study sheet and video had inconsistencies from the handbook. I memorized the video and then was told, don't use the wording from the video... One of the instructors seemed to have hated me since he met me and the few times I had him in class, it was unbearable. All he did was yell at me. The other 2 instructors were friendly. While they were teaching me, they would tell me when to turn & how much but I never learned why. I would always ask, I don't understand, I need to be able to understand, telling me what to do without me being able to recognize why is not helping. I think that comment was lost in translation because I never learned how to do some of the basic things. Unemployment paid for my training. The money & time was completely wasted. I think I got 20 hours in the truck. For some reason they schedule my first attempt at the test without having taken all the hours. They set you up to fail and I did. I scheduled another test but didn't get to practice consistently at all. I progressed but didn't pass completely. The school is busy so scheduling was a problem plus the delays at the DMV made it impossible. My test receipt expired so I had to pay that a second time and now my permit is expiring and I am out of practice hours. It makes no sense to me whatsoever that they didn't allow me to take all my hours if not more before sending me to take the test. I believe they try to get you to take the test hoping you will pass so they don't have to give you all the hours that were paid for. During my classes, the instructors were usually on their phone and not helping me. Their methods of teaching are ineffective. At this point, I think I only need a couple more hours of practice, it's all about consistency. Taking 2 hours of classes every couple weeks will never give you the skills needed. The trucks were in terrible shape. The shifter was so worn that you had to place it in the absolute correct spot. The brakes were constantly unresponsive or too sensitive. During my test, as I was going through the safety check, the truck was obviously not safe. I may have said "the air pressure is good between 80-120", but the air pressure was at 150 & it did lose more than 4lbs of pressure in a minute. It also doesn't seem professional for my time to be used maintaining the truck. Perhaps that time would have made a difference. I have to schedule some more hours and a new road test but I have to pay out of pocket. I will be going somewhere else. The question you need to ask yourself is; " is it worth spending the money to drive a truck with someone sitting next to you", this place should be your last choice.

They taught me how to do a back handspring in less than 2 months and now I'm working on my tuck and double handsprings. If you want to learn tumbling fast, start tumbling classes here. Although, there is a all star cheer team.... I'm on one of the teams and in the beginning, they treated me to nicely and without no pressure but once comp season comes into play we have 6 hour practices everyday mostly in the morning and late at night until comp and ready. She doesn't give a lot of water breaks, constantly shouts inappropriate words to the children, tells you you are off the team if you miss 1 practice, shouts if you don't throw a skill on the first try, etc. I don't understand why she does this if we are paying monthly for this. So many people have quit because of these reasons. these are some pro and cons! Thanks.

Coach Michele is very unprofessional!! we paid registration fee in September, plus tuition for all these months, participated in 2 fundraisers and paid for a uniform that we never received and all of a sudden in the middle of November coach Michele decided to cancel practice and she wouldn't answer me or any other parents phone calls until I mentioned the office of consumer affairs. After ignoring every parent that try to contact her, I just received a letter saying she will reimburse me $96!! not EVEN HALF OF WHAT I HAVE INVESTED in the uniform alone!!! not to mention the time and effort to get my daughter to practice every week. My little one is so sad!!! She doesn't understand why her coach decided to call off the squad after lying to everyone that the girls were going to compete starting January 2018. My little one was looking forward to it. Pretty much she used the 2 fundraisers to pocket "extra money" that was supposed to go towards the two sets of uniforms and then took off. I call her no answer. Only a text message saying sorry you'll be getting a letter. Way to go Michele!! Please parents don't fall under her trap!! I encourage every parent to leave a review here.
