The historic theater features lavish red decor, intimate lighting in an open view auditorium-like setting. The long standing historic venue is ornate as illustrated in post-impressionist paintings. The dancers and choreography are great, but music is canned. All dancers are profiled to be 5'9" lean, slim, ballet-trained and fit. I dare say no one had over 2% body fat in the line up. Seating was tight and although champagne was cold, ice buckets were left on the tiny table. Hint: We arrived about 3 minutes late, 9:03PM and the show had already started. I never really looked into what Moulin Rouge was about but my friend REALLY wanted to go so we made it happen! Book in advance or you will, most likely, be out of luck for a few days. Arrive early as seating IS NOT assigned but is first come first served. We booked without alcohol but you can still purchase when you are inside so I am unsure of the difference. This show was spectacular! It was one of the classic landmarks of France and it is a cultural icon. The tickets need to be purchasing advance, but there are a lot of different options. VIP entry as well. One thing to note is that you should line up early from the show as they will seat each gas individually, and will ask for you to a table. There is also an option to have champagne during the show which I highly recommend. The production value as far superior tiny show ever seen on Broadway, New York, or anywhere around the world. Where are dances from all over the world and this is a coveted show. There is a diverse cast from France, the UK, Canada, and Australia. This is a topless show, so if that is something that would upset you that I would not recommend coming. The nudity is very tasteful and is very normal as part of the French culture. Many children, or teens are present in the crowd, and exposure of skin does not want to be productive during the show. It is more expensive, which is not unexpected. Given the quality of a show, and the duration of the show which lasts a significant amount of time. They're also a lot of acrobatic and gymnastic acts that occur between dance numbers. We absolutely loved the venue and the show. We did not get the ticket with the dinner, therefore we came later (8pm for the 9pm show). Get in line early so you get the best seats! We were a party of 2 and got seated at a small sweetheart table which is what we wanted! The guests next to us at the larger tables were upset as they were squeezed into tables with strangers and had bad views. The show was incredible. I recommend everyone visiting Paris to see this show if you have the means. It was the highlight of our visit in Paris! I give 4 stars as they pack guests in like sardines and you don't get much space for yourself. We were able to order drinks but they were very expensive. The show got out around 10:45pm. Wanted to experience the Moulin Rouge while in Paris. We had done a walking tour of Montmartre earlier in the day was so fun to learn about the history before attending the show. We opted for just the show plus champagne. Our seats were pretty decent and we shared a table with another family. The show was really fun to watch so bright and colorful and definitely entertaining. I could have done without the snakes part but it wasn't as terrifying as I had thought and frankly the snakes looked like they didn't want to be there. I did have my 14 year old son with me and yes, there are boobs, boobs, boobs. It was very tastefully done though and frankly an experience he won't forget. read more

The Moulin Rouge is exactly what it should be. It's loud, sparkly, touristy, silly, fun, energetic, and over the top. It's definitely an entertaining show and something that feels very Paris-y, but I don't think it's something you'd return to see again. Mainly because you have to stand and wait so long to get in! If you don't reserve the few tables they have ahead of time, you're squished within an enormous group of people and slowly filed through the entrance doors. It's a pretty decent wait and there's nowhere to sit, but you're inside so you don't have to worry about the weather. You'll finally be ushered to a random seat and if you don't like where you're going, you should totally tip your usher for a better spot! ;) We were being led to the back behind a big pillar until Jon offered some cash. Then our usher turned around and gave us a great spot near the front, which was 100% worth it! Once we were finally seated we had the best time. The showgirls are lovely (I looked up audition info and the Moulin Rouge prefers to hire women that are at least 5'9" with a "slender figure"). So of course everyone is like a beautiful ballerina! The costumers are ridiculously colorful, glittery, and feathery. The songs are gimmicky and the cast lip syncs everything, but it's fun. I don't like the numbers with the miniature horses or the snakes, I just imagine the animals feel sad and trapped, especially because it's so loud and busy. Anyway..... we didn't do dinner, just drinks and the 11pm late show. Half a bottle of champagne was perfect for us to share, and we had dinner somewhere nearby before. The dancers were stiff, lip syncing throughout, and felt like they started rehearsing 30 minutes before the show. Overall, relies on boobs to bring in travelers with a lack luster show and out of rhythm dancing. Second time here. OMG, it was even more spectacular than before. Guys - be sure to wear long pants as I had to go buy some to get admitted. The costuming was fabulous and just plain amazing. We payed about 400$ (180€ per tickets + commission) for our tickets. We chose the 9PM show (21:00). We arrived early, like recommended, at about 20:10 (8:20 PM). When we went in and were seated - we were given terrible seats on the balcony in the far left corner. Everything else was taken by the people who bought the 7PM dinner + show. You cannot choose your seats so the seat gets chosen for you by the guy at the entrance. If you arrive in a group of two or less - you will be given the worst seat you could have. We decided to enjoy anyway and chose drinks, wine, red and pink. The red wine brought was abhorrent, it was clear it was cheap. Mind you, a glass of alcohol in Moulin Rouge will cost you at least 15€. The stage is very hard to see from this angle. And the chairs we were seated on were terrible. Tall red barstools with no back support, which really hurt if you are sitting for more than 30 minutes. The table was small and shaky. The people near us were not impressed either. There was a dress code, but by the look of the crowd not many people followed it. As for the show itself - the costumes were beautiful. All girls are tall and skinny, but not fit. They did not dance well, the moves were simple and quite monotonous. The numbers were repeating over and over again, just in different costumes. A few numbers were memorable though, but they were not performed by the people of the main cast. Two girls were gymnasts and could bend beautifully, it was similar to a circus acrobatic number. Otherwise - the show was quite boring. They did add a synchronized swimmer number, but she was not good (although could hold her breath for a good amount of time). For that price you are better off seeing Cirque Du Soleil (we've been 3 times and each time it was breathtaking) or a broadway musical (or any music show with good singing). I had a feeling that the price was just for the topless performance, which, let's be honest - is nothing impressive in this day and age. (The photo of the stage did turn out better than it was due to the zoom feature). read more

Any young couple, artistic people, people who like shows esp those similar to Vegas, should come to this iconic red Windmill burlesque show. Be aware, the ladies are topless, so do not be shocked if they come out in tutus and dance around with their tatas bare. The option is to see the show only or do the dinner. This street is full of adult stores btw, so I don't recommend younger children here if you don't want your children exposed to the more risqué ends of this Parisian street. Whether or not you get accosted by any tricks, idk but it's definitely a fun street to walk around if you are down for a rowdy and more colorful time in Paris. The numbers were all pretty good to me- I don't remember being particularly dazzled by technique but the sheer number of women on stage performing is what makes this an awesome spectacle. Especially topless. There's not so much dialogue or acting or monologues or deep take away but rather the aesthetics of feathers and sequins is what you're here for. If you want a legit play, then find a company to watch their plays. Line to get in is a little long, so be prepared to wait a while before you are seated, it's ok if you're running a little later to be honest. read more

The only similar show I've ever seen even close to the over the top showmanship was a cirque de solei in Vegas called Absinthe. We got, what we expected from the historic Moulin Rouge, to ensure an evening of music, dance, sensual costumes, and to our surprise some acrobatic performances, all in a Parisian style. We pay a little more for a VIP service, so we cut the line, secure a great seat in front of the stage and the host provided a bottle of Lauren Perrier Rose Champagne. They offer an ticket option with dinner upgrades but we declined. Highly recommended as part of your vacation. No real need to go twice if you already have got the experience in the past. read more

The production values are below Barnum & Bailey. The music is recorded as are the vocals. The dancers seem talented enough but are burdened by terrible choreography. There were two acts that were amusing, a contortionist and a rolling skating duo. In between is just more of the same elaborate costumes covering up a lack of imaginative performances. If one were to make a list of famous sites in Paris, the Moulin Rouge would be on many lists. When I decided to take my trip to France, I knew one evening would have to be spent at the iconic Moulin Rouge. I give the theatre extra credit because when a tour company changed my date, the Moulin Rouge box office reissued my tickets for the day before enabling me to do both things. That's great customer service. I was seated in the front row, theatre left. That was good seating for most of the show but there were a few times that I wished I could take in the spectacle with a wider perspective. As to the show itself, I was a bit disappointed. There were not the number of costume changes nor set changes that we had when Jubilee! ran at Bally's as dated as those sets were. I can see how Jubilee! came directly from Paris. There were good numbers during the night but I'd have to say the Can Can number was quite good as was the finale--finally with showgirl costumes like Las Vegas. Maybe I'm spoiled, but the while the show was good, it didn't live up to my expectations. Being in this famous theatre is worth a star in itself. I'm so glad I went!! read more

Sadly I had to give this place a 2 stars, maybe 3.. but it doesn't live up to the hype surrounding it. The champagne is cheap and alt the dancers where great I didn't want to see breast all night long. Also, I didnt like that ANIMAL PREFORMANCES we're apart of the show. They specifically had snakes in water that the dancer grabbed and pulled under. The rest not being pushed under gathered to a corner and we're on top of one another trying to surface. That and the use of mini horses ruined the whole experience for me. Edited my review to add they also pack you in so tight between other people. Your chairs are at an angle and it'd your along the "walk way" which is a wall and tables you have to get up and move yourself and the person next to you. It was a waste of money and time read more

Truly the highlight of my whole trip. Sadly, you can't take pictures in the main ball room..even when the show wasnt going on so I have none. But I'll tell you about it;). We bought our tickets several months ahead of time. You can eat before the meal (we didn't), and also get a bottle of champagne for the show ( I didnt). The tickets were a little over a hundred dollars but we were seated right in the center at a table pushed up against the stage. so close! The act is sort of Vegas meets Broadway meets burlesque. About half of the lovely ladies are topless (we still never figured out why some were and some weren't.) We saw the 9 PM show and it went pretty quick... maybe a little over 90 min. The main room is all red and black and low lights and so chic. I won't give all the surprises away but will say we were close enough to pet the miniature ponies. You can of course always take a pic in front of the iconic windmill without having a ticket for the show, but if you can swing it, I'd highly recommend getting tickets ahead of time for this show. This was an amazing show! I thought it would be a gimiky touristy show but it wasn't. It was a professional Broadway show! Spectacular dancing, singing and individual performances! I suggest to book tickets 2/3 months in advance. By the time we booked, the 9pm and 11pm we're only available. Go to the 9pm after the dinner. You wait but get in quickly. The show runs over and if you go at 11pm, you have to wait til everyone exits. We splurged for the champagne bottle package but you can change to wine once you arrive, if preferred. Just be aware, they may try to charge you twice. Our server didn't think we prepaid at first. Keep your receipt and confirmation. No photos aloud. Simply impeccable! anyhow between the performances are circus like acts. Amazing! It's incredible impressive jaw dropping acts that you wanna give a standing ovation for! I loved the skaters. They are the highlight for me! Around the middle to end of show, close to circus looking costumes, I was getting sleepy because it was late at night. The bathrooms are convenient and clean. There's no snacks, so eat beforehand. The show is pricey and comes with champagne. It's guest first come first serve seating so do arrive early as they pack people In there. The half bottle champagne per person is enough to drink , we didn't finish our bottle... get there by taxi. The waiters are all nice and accommodating at least ours was. But best advice. Get there early to get a good seat. Best seat is not on floor close. It's like the front row center on I think second level. Get there early enough you'll sit in front as it table seats. The Moulin Rouge is an iconic theater located right in the heart of Paris. This place essentially speaks for itself in a sense that it has some very neat and entertaining shows, most of which have topless dancers and pretty outstanding choreography. This place gets extremely pack and often has lines out the door and around the corner, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. No food but champagne is served by the bottle so make sure you grab a bite before heading in. Also, as a point of advice, be sure to book your reservations wayyyy in advance in order to secure your seat(s).
