I have been using Mound Waste & Recycling for my home renovation and downsizing needs for 2.5 years, and until this afternoon, my review would have been 5 stars.
I have had a dumpster from them for months now to clear out an inherited garage. I work and have to coordinate help for it, and so it's been slow going, but I was happy to pay the extra monthly fee to have the dumpster for longer. Their fee structure is such that the initial cost pays for the dump fee and one month's service as of when I rented from them. In January, I received one voice mail that stated their monthly rental was going up, which was fine by me. They mail me receipts, and I file the envelopes away for tax purposes.
Today, a truck shows up while I'm working down at my barn. I go up, the driver says he's there to pick up the dumpster. I'm confused, because I didn't call for a pick up. But I joke, "maybe I've had it too long." He shrugs with a smile and says he's not sure, they just told him to come out. I'm a bit annoyed because I could have fit more in it, it was about 4/5 full, but I let it slide. I had had it a long time, and I wasn't really working on my garage cleaning project over winter. I would just get a new dumpster in a few months when I want to tackle my project again. I help the driver load a few things in the back gate of the dumpster and apologize for not having it ready as I would have if I'd known he was coming, and then tell him I'll be down at the barn if he needs me. He waves me off and goes back to the truck.
A few minutes later, I go back up to my house and find the driver has loaded the dumpster, and DUMPED THE CONTENTS ONTO MY LAWN.
I will admit, curse words were used. I was not polite and professional. I was livid, as is understandable.
The driver says he called the office and said I owed on my account. I said I never had notification of this. He just says to call the office.
I tell him he could have come and found me, I would have brought my account up on the spot. He said he knocked on the house. I had specifically told him I was at the barn. He watched me walk toward the barn in the opposite direction from my house.
"What am I supposed to do with this?"
He shrugs and says, "Make it right and we'll bring another dumpster out."
"And will you load it, too?"
He ignored me and left.
Livid, I called the office. Their staff lied to me, multiple times, saying he left multiple voicemails.
Apparently, my card on file that had been used for months had expired at the end of January 2022. I received no voicemail, no email, nothing. The driver could have come to get me to make it right. They knew it was an overlooked expiration date; I was not trying to steal their service, this was not ill-intent on my part. They screwed a long-term residential customer over for no good reason whatsoever. None.
I have given this company thousands in revenue, referred multiple people to them, and this is how they treat me.
I paid for the dump fee in the initial payment, and they have defrauded me of that.
Mound Waste is unprofessional, petty, a rip-off, and defrauds customers of services they have already paid for.
The appropriate customer service response would have been to find me on my property. If I were unavailable, they should have taken the dumpster AND contents and disposed of the contents AS I PAID FOR INITIALLY, and then made an actual effort to contact me for the amount in arrears.
I will be seeking legal action in small claims court as well as contacting the State Attorney General if they do not send out a new dumpster and laborers to clean my yard within 24 hours, and I will update this review as needed. read more
