She was able to get on the 7th floor of her dorm, with a view of this park and river from her bed. Pretty damn cool. The park itself has a long walking trail with tones of shade and lots to see along the way. There are observation decks, river winning inlets, boat ramps, an area for the Alabama Row Team to launch from. There is a cool statue of Minerva in the middle of the park. Here is some info as to why: Who is she? Minerva, a Roman goddess with an entire laundry list of characteristics, including wisdom, law, justice, victory, strategy and arts. The owl, also symbolizing wisdom, is often depicted as her companion. But why is she here, on the University of Alabama campus? "The statue is Minerva, the Roman Goddess of wisdom, who also adorns the University's institutional seal," said UA President Stuart R. Bell. "She is a notable reminder of UA's commitment to serving others and how we are all one community with a shared vision of impacting the world through teaching, research and service." On the UA seal, Minerva is depicted wearing attire proper for a more ancient time - a long, flowing gown. They have done a great job keeping it natural while providing some amenities. In the evening hours with the sun setting, it was a nice walk and I wasn't the only one to notice that. The walkways are (leashed) dog friendly and several families were out and about. There was a couple sitting on a blanked having a picnic as well as some weird looking photo shoot in a bubble. There is limited parking at the eastern end and I lucked out with a space. You might do better to park at the amphitheater and make the walk. There are no other active facilities here. I did not spot a playground or restrooms. I love this park. It's one of my favorite places in the whole world. Let me tell you why it's so…read moregreat... I prefer it over the Tuscaloosa River Walk for several reasons. 1. It's not commercialized. (And I hope it never is...that's why it's so great.) In fact, there are only a few businesses along the trail, unlike across the river. 2. The path is paved and marked by quarter mile markers for 2 miles. The markers give you motivation to make it to the next one! 3. It's not as crowded! 4. People usually come to this walking path to EXERCISE. You find the majority is avidly walking, running, jogging, or you have the occasional biker. I've even seen a few people on rollerblades. I find the Tuscaloosa side is more leisurely (which is okay), but the trails there tend to be busier because of it. 5. I love it so much, my husband and I got married here right under the train trestle! 6. This park helped get me into running! The park is clean and well maintained. There is ample parking located throughout the walking path. I always feel safe running here. It has wonderful scenery from the river, riverbanks, train trestle, wildflowers, and the occasional wild life! I often see turtles basking in the sun along the banks.

He worked with the caterer, the cake delivery folks and the DJ to make sure everything was set up perfectly. All of my guests loved the venue! We had such a good time we didn't realize that we were already back to the dock at the end of the night. Checked into my hotel and crash. A couple days later saw the Belle lit up from my hotel room. Called up the captain and he said the boat isn't running but his bar was open until 9. We dashed through the pouring rain and down to the river from the Indigo and got on board. Captain Dobson was very welcoming. Made us a drink and talked to us for a long time about the Belle and the history of the town and the state of Alabama. He stayed an extra half hour chatting with us. Great guy. I'll be sure to make it for a cruise next time.

They also have clean bathrooms and showers for changing and cleaning up after a workout. Sam and the other trainers really understand what they are doing and really push you to workout hard in each class but without being the annoying motivated cheerleader type. The classes are smaller so you can get more quality attention from the trainers and they also will help you with diet needs and have an "InBody" machine to measure your body fat percentage and measure other body compositions. The workouts aren't easy but if you are committed to getting better then this is the place for you.
