My friend who loves outdoor adventure celebrated her birthday weekend at Mt. Hermon Adventures! She booked the Redwood Canopy tour, a 2 hours guided tours with 7 ziplines. I never in my wildest dream thought I would do ziplining!! I have a fear of heights but because of the help of our two amazing and wonderful guides, Mitchell and Zeke I conquered my fear! I enjoyed the ziplining experience and seeing the beautiful scenery of the redwood forest around me!! Mitchell, thank you for all the jokes and tree trivia. If I could give 0 stars for customer service, I would. I had a zipline reservation on April 6 and called ahead to let them know I was on my way and would arrive in 5 minutes. The staff member told me that would be fine as long as we completed the waivers in advance, which we did. We arrived within those 5 minutes, but she was busy with another customer, so we waited a few minutes for her to acknowledge us. Instead of checking us in, she stalled briefly and then told us we had missed the grace period and could not be checked in. This was extremely frustrating because we were physically there within the grace period. I even have map timeline data showing our exact arrival time. Had they not been short-staffed or delayed in assisting us, we would have made it onto the tour without any issue. To make matters worse, we were told that a manager would follow up the next day to reschedule us. That never happened. No call, no email, nothing. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience driven entirely by poor communication and lack of accountability. I would not recommend booking here based on how they handle customers when issues arise. read more

Jayden and Brody were patient, calm, encouraging, and professional from start to finish. They never made me feel embarrassed about my fear and knew exactly how to encourage me when I needed it most. I have a fear of heights but I managed to get through the entire zip line course, and I can't get the experience out of my mind. It feels like a small personal victory to have done it. Sailing through the redwoods like a bird! If it wasn't for our two guides, Sarah and ?? I would never have made it. They were serious about safety and showed us how there were backups to the backup so if he main system failed we would be okay. That was the only way I got through. Trust! I'll update this review once I hear back about the outcome of their investigation. Original review: I respect Mount Hermon's mission as a nonprofit organization and understand that businesses need late-arrival policies. My disappointment is not with the policy itself, but with how we were treated by manager Landon Duffey. After an unexpected traffic delay, we called ahead multiple times but no one answered. When we arrived, Landon repeatedly emphasized that we should have communicated our delay. However, after we explained that we had in fact called several times, he told us it "wouldn't have made a difference" because the outcome would have been the same. That left me genuinely confused about why our communication was being criticized in the first place. We had a lengthy but respectful discussion while trying to find a reasonable solution. We understood that Mount Hermon had a policy, but hoped there might be some flexibility. We even expressed that we were happy to tip the tour guides generously and would gladly recommend Mount Hermon Adventures to more coworkers in the future if there was any way to make it work. I understand that we disagreed about the outcome, but what surprised me was how the conversation became personal. Landon told us we were "not respecting our boundaries," said he "didn't have confidence" we would enjoy the tour, and even told us we "qualified as customers this time" but "would not qualify as customers" if we booked again. Those comments felt unnecessary and unprofessional. Landon later asked us to wait until the 4:45 tour to see if any spots became available, so we did. After no spots opened, he repeatedly rushed us to "make a decision," repeatedly brought up calling security, and ultimately asked us to leave. I don't expect every customer to get the outcome they want. I do expect to be treated with professionalism and respect, even when the answer is no. Overall: 3.5 Stars Just a short drive up a windy road off Highway 1, you get to this beautiful camping ground area that is perfect for monkeying around in the forest! I took my big kids to do the Aerial Adventures (the adventure tour where you have to conquer challenges rather than do all zip lines). It was physically tiring and mentally stimulating. My kids, ages 15 to 20, all loved it. I wasn't sure if my 15 year old "girlie girl" would enjoy it, but she did! The challenges were a fabulous family bonding activity for Spring Break! I highly recommend it. The only suggestions I have for Mount Hermon Adventures are: 1) Provide water at some point during the 2-hour tour. It wasn't even a hot day when we went, and the other family and my family were all incredibly thirsty since the challenges were so physical and not allowed to carry anything. This started when we were still in the middle of Level 2. Having a small water station would be a life-saver -- both figuratively and literally! (I was feeling a little lightheaded at the end of Level 2, but didn't want to miss out or leave my kids on their own in the last level, so I pushed through, but it seemed 9 out of 10 people were complaining they were thirsty. This is a safety and health issue, and participants need to be given a chance to drink water. 2) Find a way to streamline the procedural activities in the beginning. The web description of the tour stated it would be brief, like 10 minutes -- but between watching a safety video in the tent, walking to another area to put on our harnesses, going to a third area to have training, and then taking turns on the ropes, one-at-a-time... took 45 minutes! One of the two guides wanted to take some of us who completed the training to start the ropes course, but we would all have to leave our groups (ie, some of my kids, some of their friends, someone's spouse). They did this when they noticed how late it was, but most groups were there for a celebratory reason, so splitting up a family or group was not something anyone preferred. By the time the last person finished the last part of the ropes course, we all could walk to the forest were the Aerial Adventure course would be... but by then, we lost almost the entire first hour. (You are allotted two hours!) FINALLY at the adventure course, you clip into the wires on the tree to begin. No. You get to wait in yet another line because there is only one challenge to begin the course. (There is a limit of 2 people who can go on a challenge at a time, but depending on the challenge, you don't want any movement at all from others so you go one at a time.). With the delayed start and so much waiting around, we had to rush through the first two levels (Easy and Medium/Hard) in order to have time to go to the last level (Hard). ***There must be a more efficient way to get trained, harnessed, and given rules about safety! Maybe combine some of the areas as to save time walking to various areas? Maybe combine safety with training and divide the group in half so the first group who is finished will not block the course when the rest of the group arrives to begin.*** [Just fyi: I have been ziplining in other places in the US as well as other countries.] Once the "tour" started, it was great. The 2 guides were courteous, answered questions, and were helpful. They gave tips on which path was easier/harder and tips on how to solve the challenge, if we needed help. The only downside is that the guides watched the time closely so the next group didn't run into us and kept telling us how many minutes we had left on each level, which was a little nerve-wracking, especially when you were at the top of the Redwood Forest with one foot dangling midair, and you can't reach the rope with your hand! ********************************* SUMMARY Mount Hermon Adventures (MHA) has so much potential! It is located in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains. It is run by friendly, competent staff, and the venue is clean and farmhouse chic! They offer two main adventures: a Challenge one and a fully Zipline one. Safety is top of mind for MHA, which is necessary, but they need to figure out how to make the Getting Ready process (safety/gearing up/training) more efficient when there is a full group in attendance so there is less waiting around and time walking to another location for the next pre-adventure step. That way people can have more time up in the trees to have fun and make memories instead of standing around waiting. TIP: MHA does not provide a water station during your 2-hour adventure (probably because there are no bathrooms, so they don't want you to need to make a pit stop), so make sure you're well hydrated beforehand. ********************************* read more

Wow...the zip line experience we had today was awesome! Our guides Amanda and Andy were great and let's add very funny too! We felt very safe with their knowledge and experience. Started our adventure with a 9:30 reservation. A quick video and harness information and we were ready to go. To our surprise we were the only ones on this reservation so we were very lucky and it made our experience that much more special. The view from the redwoods was pretty incredible and we couldn't ask for a better day. All the zip lines were fun and the bridge took me back to Indiana Jones. We had the pleasure of visiting the Mount Herman Adventures ropes course and our large group had a blast. Our group was led by 2 guides, Kian and Andy, who were personable, professional, respectful, and of course, Fun! when you check in at the lobby, there is an option to purchase gloves for $2 which are grippy and protect your fingers if you are worried about grabbing anything rough/rope or wood/trees (the gloves are basically like gardening gloves so you can pick some up before you come and just bring them with you. Since there's a small chance you could drop an item, they recommend storing wallets, keys and other small items in a lockbox that is only used by your group. I would suggest having some sort of zippered pocket if you want to have your phone with you to take photos when you're waiting at a tree stand or bridge. The safety course at the start of the adventure gets you comfortable with your equipment and how to stay safe when you're up in the trees. they were very professional in making sure everyone felt secure and knew how each piece of equipment worked. The course itself was awesome with various challenges at different levels. we all felt comfortable and challenged at the same time and were ready to get out there. The Zip line was also really awesome and you get to enjoy the wilderness being up in the trees. Overall, everyone at our group (4 adults, 4 kids) had a blast and would gladly go again. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. -----TL;DR---- PROS: very well run, focused on safety and fun, and the ropes course elements were challenging as much as you wanted it to be (you could do easier or harder ones if you wanted to). CONS: none BOTTOM LINE: we loved it--if you'd like a well run, safe, fun ropes course experience, definitely give them a try. We'd love to go back. Great Sundate spent with my husband where we explored the redwood forest via the Sequoia Aerial Adventure. There were swinging logs, bridges and zip lining involved. Low key didn't realize I was slightly afraid of heights until we were high up in the trees but nothing like conquering your fears while having a good time. It was our first time ziplining and Andrew and Jordan (our guides) made it super easy and fun for our group! There were 6 ziplines in our experience and I think they were paced nicely throughout the 2-hour experience. Aside from learning about ziplining, we also learned a lot about the redwoods which was a big bonus. As first-timers, having great guides who helped eased our fears was super helpful. The experience was good for first timers I think because it wasn't too high up, nor too long for each zip line, and the speed wasn't too fast. I don't think any of the lines went over 30mph, and the longest zip line lasted maybe 18 seconds. There are 2 picture-taking points that the guides will point out to you that you can purchase after the experience. First of all, this was one of the best zip lining experiences I have ever had. This was my second time zip lining but my friend's were first timers. We were all a little nervous but Andy and Noah quickly made our nerves go away with their funny high energy. They really made the experience 100 times better. The best guides, Maya and Autumn! They made our first adventure an amazing one. After reading reviews, I packed for light gloves (like thin winter ones), hat, leggings with side pockets with crew socks, and fanny pack. When you arrive, you park in the lot and walk towards the most beautiful check in facility and gift shop. Dave was the kindest and most welcoming! We still had 15 minutes to finish up our coffee and light pastries packed. The bathrooms were like a 4 star ski resort - very clean and well kept and maintained. Now to the check in and safety for the aerial tour. Quick video, then headed down to the pre-course for the hands on practice. Then on the way to the course! There are 3 levels so with the two of us, it was like a private tour. Autumn and Maya have really good tips on the courses. Don't forget the 3rd level - it was actually my favorite! The gloves actually was super helpful for grabbing the ropes that were damp from the recent rain. You also get a coupon at the end for the next one, so can't wait to do the full zip lining. (Also don't forget to give the awesome guides an appreciation). Can't wait to come back next time! Other pro-tips: 1. Book morning time in December. We did it the weekend after Christmas and it was nice and peaceful (versus summer, so we are told). It was also beautiful misty foresty magic 2. The recent rain helped with the reduction of dust. 3. What an experience?!! My family truly enjoyed the time at Mount Hermon as it was my first time zip lining . They made it so comfortable as they clipped and navigated us all. My husband scheduled this a month ago. We've been wanting to come here. We were asked to check in 20 minutes early before our 10am reservation time. Check in was easy and we were given a wrist band to signify who we were and our reservations. Two guides with our party of 7. They have a basket which they lock up where you can keep your items - phones/wallets/ water. Many stalled bathrooms. Free wifi. If you have a go pro and zippered pockets bring your cell phone. They do take photos for you but it cost money if you want your own copy. We did 6 zip lines and it was so much fun! We learned about the trees from our guides. During Spring Break, I booked myself a Sequiao Aerial Adventure for the Friday morning. My students get to have fun on their spring break so I made it a point to have some fun too somehow. All work and no play is no fun. Our guides were Kenan and Landon. They were both helpful and friendly. A big shoutout to Kenan for being supportive and talking me through when I was stuck on one of the courses. I made it through, and I'm very proud of myself! Hehe I'm not scared of heights, but I don't like the feeling of falling/dropping. I know the harness is going to catch me, but there's still that fear. Lol.. All in all this was such a fun-filled experience! I 10/10 recommend if you're looking to try an aerial adventure. The two ziplines was fun too. My favorite zipline experience is the first zipline I did back in Australia though! After returning back, you can look on the computer to see the video/photos to purchase if you like. I ended up buying a photo and a video. Haha.. Plenty of parking is available on site. They help store things for you such as my keys and purse. Wow! This is an incredible adventure without needing to leave the Bay Area. The redwoods are gorgeous and it is an excellent site seeing opportunity for those out of town. I did the ropes course twice and the zip line once. My first round at the ropes course was thrilling and I developed more fear the 2nd time around altho I was able to utilize tips & tricks from the 1st time. Even the 1st level elements are grueling & 2 hours flies by! Be prepared to be sore and tender for 1-2 days, or maybe 3-4 days. The guides can make it or break it. Some can be impatient while others are far more supportive. I thoroughly enjoyed the zip lines and would do this over & over again. The guides are patient and have a fantastic sense of humor. Our tour guides, Kian and Daniel, helped with the nerves because of their jokes, and they were extremely friendly and helpful throughout the process. The banter helped me feel a lot less nervous. I am NOT an outdoorsy person. This city girl likes temperature-controlled environments free of bugs, dirt, and allergens. So, I surprised myself when I quickly accepted an invitation to join some coworkers on the Sequoia Aerial Adventure event at Mount Hermon Adventures. Most of the people in my group have done zip lining and various ropes courses. I think I was the only one who hadn't done anything like this before. I'm not necessarily scared of heights, but did I mention I'm not a big fan of the great outdoors? Anyway, I want to give a shout out to everyone at Mt. Hermon Adventures, because they made the registration, check-in, and training a breeze. You can bring your water bottle to the safety/training area, but otherwise, you should leave your personal items in the locked box in the greeting area by the store/check-in area. After checking in, we watched a short video, and our guides walked us over to the training area. They talked us through the safety equipment and how to maneuver the various elements. I'm a little hard of hearing, so it was hard to hear the guides as they talked why walking away, but my companions kindly repeated things for me. We got to practice various elements close to the ground before beginning the course. It was really comforting to know what to expect ahead of time. I want to give a huge shout out to the staff who worked with us. Naomi, Ricki, & Michaela were outstanding! They represented Mt. Hermon Adventures tremendously. Throughout the course, they checked our equipment, spoke reassuringly, and provided above and beyond customer service. Michaela even supported an especially fearful person by holding her hand across two of the elements. She never lost her patience or made the participant feel bad for needing a little TLC. My favorite part of the Ariel Adventure was definitely the zip lines. Too bad there were only two of them. I would totally do more of those! Again, from beginning to end, the staff and experience was top notch. For those that were a little more hesitant, the staff provided the encouragement and support needed. For the more adventurous, there were varying levels of difficulty that could be chosen. A few of us got a little woozy feeling motion sick (and walking up those stairs is no joke), but overall our group had a really good experience. Thank you! read more

Food is mid. Views are amazing. Location is convenient. Trees are unsafe. I parked in a designated parking spot near my cabin and a tree fell on it. The tree cracked the roof of my car. Walked over to where the tree was and saw that the other trees in that area also looked ready to collapse. Contacted them via email with no response.
