We didn't know much about the place, expect for some reviews we had read online. He really wanted some new frames that 'didn't look like all the others.' Enter Discerning Eye. We arrived to a bustling shop and were greeted right away. This place is a feast for the eyes. So many beautiful frames to try on. Eclectic, funky, artsy, and unique describe what they have to offer. After a few minutes of browsing, Emily came over to assist us. She is awesome. She stayed with us during our entire visit. My husband tried on several different frames, asked lots of questions, and we were in and out in less than two hours. We never felt rushed while we were there, despite how busy they were. Frames are organized by designer. Bargain frames are in the basement. We intend to go back and check those out at some point. They had a trunk show going on the day we visited, so it was quite the overall experience. Snacks, CHAMPAGNE, and a prize basket (we received $30 off a pair of frames). After having double by pass open heart surgery I began having eye problems, I called for an appt at…read morethis place and was told they couldn't make an appt because I had a $95 balance i was no aware of but paid it immediately over the phone. The day if my appt the dr requested $360 up front, even tho I have insurance. Because if tge seriousness of bypass surgery I went ahead and paid them to be able to have my eyes checked. They should have let me know this when i made the appt or I wouldnt have went in the 1st place but since I had a driver I went ahead and gave them the money, 2 weeks later eyes are still the same. I call back, drs wife says he'll call in a script for me and made another appt fir a week later. I mentioned to her I do not have anymore $$ to give them up front ad AGAIN I have insurance, and she also tells me I have a credit there, so ok. 15 mins later dr himself calls, left a message and says hes not going to call in a prescription unless I pay him $120 first. Now ive had enough of them! I said forget it, I'll go back to my eye Dr I had in CR for years. 2 weeks later went to other dr, turns out my dx was incorrect from this guy and I STILL dont have my $$ back. Btw I dont even need to pay a co pay with my insurance at my old dr let alone pay for the entire visit up front. I would never recommend this dr in Anamosa hes ripping people off. I rs my EOB from my insurance saying where they paid for the entire bill except $20 and hes still sitting on my money. I called asking for my money back and they gave me story about blaming the insurance, never ever will I ir my husband ever go back . He also made a comment that he "doesn't see patients for free" in his message! I never ever said anything about a " free" visit. My optometrist in CR is extremely thorough and excellent, I will never go anywhere else again, especially to this place very rude and unprofessional and didnt even dx me correctly. PS if i dont receive a check from them in the next day or so I will filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
