We are new to the area and I wanted to make a good decision for our family. The center is really diverse which was a must for me so that my daughter can be well-rounded. I love her teachers; Ms. Chrae and Ms. Qeyera show my daughter the best care and attention. They are a breath of fresh air. The transition has been smooth and so relieving. My daughter is also a pescatarian and the center accommodates her dietary restrictions with ease! They inform me of everything going on whether big or small. I love it here.

When 3/4 of the parents at this school had enough and decided to leave, the director would belittle and send out manipulating and unprofessional emails. The school had great teachers, but most of the teachers had a mass exodus from getting tired of the unprofessionalism shown by management. They also did not follow their own set of rules in their own handbook about giving deposits back. A vast amount of families had been owed next years deposits but the school decided to not abide by their own rules, leaving these families out of a lot of $. Our time spent here, was way too drama filled for a preschool! I would not recommend going here.

Before sending my son to Davenport, I visited A LOT of preschools. I can say that I couldn't find a stronger preschool or a better preschool for my son than Davenport. My husband and I are very picky and I can tell you that our son has thrived so much in this learning environment. Our son is a stronger critical thinker, more curious about lots of new ideas and concepts, and most important to us a better human because of his experience at Davenport. Obviously, as parents we talk to him about being kind and compassionate but Davenport helped him live out the principles we've been teaching him in his inclusive classroom. Our son has been exposed to students with learning differences and he's learned how to be in community with all types of learners. We are so grateful for that. I know that he will be a better community member in his next environment because of the exposure he received at Davenport. Additionally, our experience with the leadership has been very positive. When we first toured the school, we shared that we may have a foster child in our care due to the some challenges facing a family member. Liz and the team were incredibly supportive and were open to that possibility. I was so grateful for that. While the young boy didn't come to live with us, I had comfort and slept better at night knowing that if he had come, he would have had a home at Davenport. I also appreciated how forthright and transparent the leadership was when the Towson campus closed. I can only imagine how difficult that situation was for Liz and the team but I appreciated how they shared information about the campus closure and transition to Sparks before our enrollment forms were due. They had multiple parent meetings, made themselves available for individual meetings, and stayed in constant contact with the Towson community. I couldn't have asked for more out of the team. And they did all this while dealing with their own experiences of loss. Because of our previous research, it wasn't even a question. We were going to Davenport Sparks! And we made that decision even though my husband has a 90 minute commute to pick up our son in the evening. I have also found them to be incredibly supportive of my son. They have always put him in the right classes to foster his development. They really know what they are doing when they pair students with teachers and they set up classes. Each child has a different personality and yet I have always found they have the right mix and my son always has a great community of students and a great teacher. I have loved his teacher each and every year!!! Finally, I have found the leadership to be very open. For example, diversity in the student body and faculty is very important to me. I've shared my commitment to diversity and the importance of diversity. The leadership took my commitment to heart and I am so proud of the increased diversity I've seen in the school community over the past few years. I honestly cannot write enough positive things about Davenport and the team there. I am so grateful and I cannot imagine what I would do without them.

We have had both of our kids at Govans for one full school year, in the PreK class and the 2s…read moreclass. We moved to town a year ago and were lucky to find this great preschool! Both of our kids settled in well, were cared for, challenged, and more. They are play-based as a school, especially for the younger ages, and spend a lot of time doing play, music, crafts, etc. And our son in PreK made excellent progress on "academic" curriculum as well -- Spanish, sight words, writing, math, etc. In addition, the teachers and admins make investments in their character development -- learning to be empathetic, kind to others, etc. They've also been very easy-going in terms of scheduling the care we need for the kids. They are willing to work with part-time schedules, and you can take weeks "off" from preschool/childcare during the Summer for vacations without having to pay for the spot. We've been very pleased and would recommend this preschool to other parents without hesitation.

My child was enrolled here for several months, and while there were a few positive interactions…read morewith some caring teachers, my overall experience raised serious concerns. The biggest issue was inconsistent basic care, specifically around diapering and hygiene. There were multiple occasions where my child was not changed in a timely manner, including at pickup. This led to repeated and severe diaper rash that required medical attention. This was not a one-time incident, but a pattern. In the two's classroom, under Ms. Shy, these issues were especially noticeable. Despite raising concerns multiple times, there was little consistency in improvement and retaliation to the parents and the children. Ms. Yamuna is amazing!! I also observed safety concerns, including cleaning products being left within reach of very young children. For a toddler environment, this is unacceptable. What was most frustrating was the response from administration. Concerns were acknowledged, but addressing them required repeated follow-ups and extensive back-and-forth. It did not feel like there was a strong commitment to making consistent changes. Additionally, some of these concerns actually reflect issues that had been documented previously at the state level, which made the lack of improvement even more concerning. To be fair, not all staff contributed to this experience. However, the inconsistency in care and lack of accountability ultimately led me to withdraw my child. I'm sharing this so other parents can ask informed questions and make the best decision for their child.

As an employee of the Little School (6mo-5 years), I get to nurture and mold the youngest of the students on campus. My Toddler class loves to ride in the buggies around campus, say hello to students & staff, as well as enjoy the many views and sounds that they encounter along the way. This is a place of great tradition and quality. Many who are employed here, like myself, tend to stick around because the experience is hard to replace, and impossible to duplicate!

Come to find out, The Young School keeps your info on file indefinitely even if you never tour or enroll your child. I inquired years ago when my middle child who is now 9 was one. They had no openings then. This means that they have had my info lying dormant for 8 years which I signed nothing agreeing to. I've gotten married, changed my name and had another baby since. None of this would have been an issue if the rep didn't respond in a suspicious tone when I provided my name. Instead of saying, "hey, I see you may have inquired about our center in the past, have you had a name change or gotten married?' It was more of a tone that conveyed suspicion. Just a weird interaction altogether. When I brought it to the attention of the rep she began to raise her voice and ask for even MORE personally identifying information. Lady I just want to know if you have any openings to start! May be a nice center maybe not, I would never know thanks to this initial interaction.

They canceled a virtual tour of their facility twice. Also, Jessica Trail - the head of the school - takes too long to respond to emails. I figure they're not going to miss our business since they seem to have a long waitlist (this is just conjecture since I can't really get any solid information). Be that as it may, I still think it's reasonable as a prospective patron to expect follow-through and timely responsiveness (meaning no more than two business days). In the interest of fairness, I must add that Jamie Sultz (admissions?) has been quite lovely to speak with.
