Amazing views of the city both during the day and at night! Curbside parking can be a bit hard to find on some weekends, but I don't think most people stay too long, so spots should come up. There are several observation decks and some coin operated binoculars. From here you can see the two stadiums, downtown, and several bridges. It's gorgeous at night when everything lights up. I even saw someone doing a proposal on one of the observation decks. Many people come here for casual photoshoots too. These views are definitely worth checking out!

Such a beautiful view, I want to mount it

Martha liked to be on top. Each night she would, as legend goes, Mount Washington, and ride him until dawn. It's how he drew his strength - although I didn't realize he was a sketch artist until now. Mount Washington is the type of neighbourhood that dreams are made of, as Bogey would say. It's one of the most beautiful places in the Pittsburgh area, and is both inspiring and moving. The views here are second to none. They might be the most awe-inspiring city views in the world. It's in the West End of the city, close to downtown, far up on a mountain overlooking the skyline, and all the bridges and rivers. Surely there are very few neighbourhoods this picturesque and gorgeous and breathtaking in the entire country - or in fact the entire world. One of the greatest sites in the United States of America one of my favorite places.

If you live in the city or you are visiting, this view and perspective of the city line is worth your time. There are several balcony spots that jet out from the sidewalk that gets you even closer to the view so you have 180 degrees of free and clear view. There were enough pay and park street parking spots when we ventured here. We did not take the vernacular. Go, beautiful!

A must see if you're in the city of Pittsburgh. It provides the best view of the city. Worth checking out multiple times. Great place to be during the 4th of July celebration. If you visit the city and want the best way to view it. You go here. This is a no brainer. I've been here so many opportunities and each time gets better and better. It's the best view of the city. It's our HOLLYWOOD SIGN of Los Angeles.

Pittsburgh has the best city views with Mount Washington overlooking it, and touring around those sights makes it even better :)

Drove here for sunset and was able to get a great view of the city. The Duquesne railway incline also isn't too far from here. Parking spots/street parking are available.

This is "the place" to take a "Pittsburgh" photo. It seems like every good city or vacation destination has a unique place where locals and visitors go to take a "postcard" photo. This is Pittsburgh's place. The top of the ridge offers a number of scenic vantage points that provide some stunning views of downtown Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. Once you've gotten your photo fix, there are other options available including some trails, restaurants and dessert spots. If you plan right, you can make a day out of it.

Mount Washington also has areas that don't face downtown Pittsburgh. I didn't go that way, sticking to the railing and the lookout points that offered some incredible views of the city. It was a mostly clear day so I got some terrific pictures of the skyline and enjoyed my time up here. Ride the Incline!

Many cities have their "look-out" spot, you know that building that towers above the rest with an observation deck that gives you that picture perfect view from XXhundreds of feet in the air. While I'm sure there's a building within the city of Pittsburgh with this, there really is no better vantage point than looking out on the city from Mount Washington. To visit Pittsburgh, especially if driving in, you'll notice that you seem to be driving in through forested hills for miles and then all of sudden a city pops into your view seemingly out of no where - pretty sweet. It's these very same hills that surround the city of Pittsburgh and atop one is Mount Washington, not a mountain in the traditional sense per se, but certainly a worthy long and winding drive up to a small neighbourhood build right into the side of the area - and we're talking hella fancy homes with views. for. days. The main road opposite these homes is where you'll drive along in search of parking - it wasn't overly hard to find and it was free. Then you can walk along the side walk for views OR walk out onto any one of the many pods the extend out from the street over the forest and roads below to give you the best views of the city you could hope for. Luck was on our side this past weekend as the sky was clear, the weather was crisp and the leaves had almost all turned a Steelers Gold. Colour me mystified! This was the last thing we did before hopping back in the car home and was the best way to wrap up our weekend. A must see when you visit

This is a MUST see in Pittsburgh. You absolutely have to see the view from Mount Washington - preferably at day AND night, so you can see the city with the beautiful lights and the amazing view without them. There are plenty of great restaurants for dining while enjoying the view, too.

This is a must-see when in Pittsburgh. I can't vouch for the view in the daytime but at night it is absolutely breathtaking. You can see all of Pittsburgh lit up.. including all of its beautiful bridges. You can purchase tickets to ride the incline tram up and down (roundtrip is $3.50 for adults. Free for seniors 65+ and children under 5). On top where you get to take in these beautiful views is actually a neighborhood of houses and a church, etc. I saw a lot of cars just parked temporarily on the side of the streets, not sure how strict they are with patrol there. Anyway, it was gorgeous. I loved it. Definitely highly recommended. It's also a great idea for date night for all the couples out there ;)

Free look out over pittsburgh ... Three rivers stadium in left to the right 200° .... Only 35° this evening. Two nights ago it was 19°! This is an easy 5 Stars.... We've been here 30-40 minutes! Freezing our tails off!

Although some also say it is from the strip mills that were once in the area. Regardless of how it got its name, it is a wonderful place that anyone spending time in Pittsburgh should visit! There are restaurants of every variety. Polish, Vietnamese, seafood, Italian and the original Primanti Brothers location! There is a winery, butcher shop, places to buy kitchen items, a spice store, tons of Pittsburgh themed sports and souvenir shops. Candy stores, Pittsburgh popcorn. Maybe the most known entity is Wholey's Market with their amazing selection of fresh seafood. The strip is always busy during the day, especially on Saturday and Sunday. It is a little less crazy in the evenings because a lot of the retail stores are only open until 5, but there are still plenty of great spots to grab a bite. It is easily walkable and there are a wide variety of parking options (a municipal garage near one end, surface lots, metered spots and some businesses (like Wholey's) have their own lots. What is great is that anyone can enjoy the Strip District. You can enjoy time with your family, wander on your own, have a girls day our or have a date day. So many fun things to choose from. During this visit, I noticed the Dollhouse building has been completely redone. The new exhibit is much darker and heavier in tone, which honestly made me a little disappointed since the dollhouse installation used to be a staple of my visits and something I always looked forward to. The third building had construction going on on the first floor, but from what I could see it looks like it's going to be an incredible new display once it's finished. I was also a little sad to see the delayed recorder projector piece gone, but the new installation in its place was still interesting. One thing I still absolutely love is the water flowing down the handrails--it's such a small detail but always one of my favorite parts of the experience. Overall, it's still a place I enjoy visiting and seeing how the exhibits evolve over time.

If you are coming from the north on 279, you round a corner and then bam, there it is, the skyline. Additionally, you can get amazing views from up on Mt. Washington. When I have out of town visitors, they often ask about a rooftop restaurant and I say you don't need one, you just need to go to one of the ones in Mt. Washington. There is a nice variety of modern vs historic and the signature bridge color and style complements it well. One of the great things about Pittsburgh's skyline is the variety of options you have to view it. You can be ground level at Station Square or on the North Side. The best view, though, is from Mt. Washington. Definitely take the time to view it during the day, at night and in different seasons for different perspectives.

If you get drunk in Pittsburgh, and then need a bathroom, you may have trouble finding one, hence the nickname "P*ssburgh", but what some people that don't know P***burgh very well don't know, is that this city has one of the most beautiful skylines in the world. Still one of the most beautiful skylines in the whole world. You got to see a little of it during the recent "Grudge Match" boxing movie, but it's still so unheralded and unappreciated compared to other, often inferior, skylines. Los Angeles is amazing with the mountain behind it (from a distance), whereas San Francisco and its bridges is incomparable, and Rainier as a backdrop to Seattle is incredible. Don't forget Philly, Houston, Dallas, the spectacular lakeside Chicago, and the blue tropical-scape of Miami. While New York City probably wins, I'd actually put Pittsburgh at the top of the list for the runner up spot. The best place to view the skyline (and there are many, many options) is Grandview Avenue, which is also listed and reviewed on Yelp. The viewing platforms up there are incredible. Another great view is on your way through the tunnel from the West... it's a low trajectory view, but it's breathtaking. I love heading into Pitt on the interstate from the North (I-279 I believe), and seeing it unfolding behind the gorgeous mountains. So indeed. It's one of the most incredible skylines in the country, and one which always takes my breath away and has ever since I first saw it a long time ago when I came to Pittsburgh to play a concert, so many years back, but it meant a lot to me, and the City of Pittsburgh totally changed my life for sure. I certainly think it's one of the most underrated skylines in the history of skylines. No matter what angle you see it from - especially if you're coming over a hill and then you see it - it just takes your breath away. Especially considering there is really nothing in the way of cities for hundreds of miles, in at least 80% of the directions from Pittsburgh. If you head Ohio way it's a little bit different, but still it's just amazing of here. One of the most amazing parts of the country that's for sure. If anyone ever tells you Pittsburgh isn't beautiful and spectacular, they don't know what they're talking about. Even if a lot of the guys here have an attitude, hence the nickname "Pr**ksburgh."
