It took me the better part of a year to find a rolfer that I wanted to go through the 10 series with, and this is the one thing I stress to everyone. Find the right person, as you will be spending 10 sessions (in my case, 12) with this individual. I did the 10 series as a way to learn more about my body, correct issues I had noticed, and to steal Theresa's words 'be the best version of myself.' I went from being able to tell when something was wrong with my body and the reason, to constantly checking in with my body and noticing small things I did throughout the day that could/would add to pain I experienced later. Yes, this is very focused on myself, my experience, and how my body feels now. This is ALL due to Theresa, and her way of understanding my ramblings of how I was feeling. She worked on areas that didn't match what I had just described, but she was quick to explain why. She would also check in before, during, and after the session. This impacted my ability to understand my body and taught me so much more about my body. She is also amazing at talking about the most random things, which is nice when you are going to be spending 1.5 hours with someone every week. I have had 12 sessions with her due to needing to take a break at two points to focus on pressing issues. The first time was to focus on some shoulder pain that I have experienced on and off for years, and after Theresa's attention, the pain started to disappear and I was able to understand what I was doing to add to the pain. The next time we took a break from the 10 series was when I had a sinus infection and came into her office just crying due to the pain I was in. I had seen a dentist and, eventually, a doctor. Neither of them relieved the pain the way Theresa did with a face massage that left me not needing to grab pain killers. Please, please find the right person when you decide to go through this process. I am pretty sure Theresa will be that person for almost anyone. :) And if you aren't big of Rolfing or completing the 10 series, Theresa is still your person in addressing issues you are experiencing with your body.
