Please do not patronize Creek Bottom Brewing…read more It is not a safe place for women or children. Creek Bottom is at the center of a local controversy involving a young man named William Ayers. In 2023, Ayers was convicted of child rape (carnal knowledge of a child) and abduction. He was released from prison last year, back into our community. Upon his release, Creek Bottom Brewing began employing him to work in the brewery--as a known convicted child sex offender. In February, while working for Creek Bottom, Ayers was arrested AGAIN for ANOTHER sexual assault, strangulation, brandishing a firearm, and abduction by force. It got a little media attention as the "Valentine's Day Rape." Recently added to his list of charges is possession of child porn and sexual abuse of an animal. Where does Creek Bottom come in, beyond offering a job to a known child sex offender? William Ayers' parents are the owners of Creek Bottom. They made the choice to employ him at their brewery, along with their many young women employees and the families who visit the restaurant. Our dollars spent at the brewery unwittingly went directly towards Ayers' paycheck. Many community members feel that Creek Bottom's owners have made horrendous decisions that endanger our community by choosing to have their son employed at the brewery, and by supporting/enabling him in other ways. It is readily apparent that Ayers' parents employ pricey high-powered out-of-town attorneys to defend their son from his charges. (Courtroom interactions between those attorneys and the father of William Ayers reinforce this, with the attorneys pulling Daddy Ayers aside for extended conferencing before making motions.) A couple of days ago, Ayers was offered bail set at $900,000. That means that if his supporters/enablers come up with a $90k bail bond agent fee, or $900k on their own, Ayers will AGAIN be released into our community. All of this is a matter of public record: past convictions, state sex offender registry that showed Ayers working at Creek Bottom until his latest arrest, ownership of Creek Bottom, recent charges, and ongoing court case with private legal defense. All members of our community can and should make their own INFORMED choices here. Sending your money in Creek Bottom's direction could literally help lead to this individual being released into our community once again. Endanger the wealth that is supporting him, and we may be able to make a real difference for community safety. Please don't unwittingly contribute to a William Ayers legal defense fund or to bailing him out to walk among us again. If you see fit, stand by us in this effort.

The waitress came out and got our drink orders and delivered them fairly promptly. She said just to let you know it will be about 25 minutes before you get your food. There were 4 people in our area. Over an hour passed before the food came out... Missing the French fries. We had to go and locate the waitress twice to tell her we had not gotten the fries They still didn't come out. In about 30 minutes they finally arrived after asking twice. They were fresh and hot so obviously they had not been cooked 30 minutes earlier. Offered dessert because we had to wait so long. We took it but around 25 more minutes before it was delivered. Not great at all. Brownie obviously old and dried out. Waitress told us there were 3 cooks in the kitchen. Not sure what they were doing. We watched the second half of the Arizona v somebody game and the first half of the Duke v Virginia game. You just can't make this stuff up. Maybe worst service ever!

Seriously, the sandwich selection is where it's at...tho other menu items look incredible, including the buffalo mac n cheese Awesome spot too! Old US Post Office bldg w/what amounts to a museum of old and collectible tchotchkes that you can peruse while you wait for your food. Great ambiance, especially at the bar! Only thing is the inconsistency w/service here; thankfully I've only had one time where it was snail-level slow. In the end, all's well that ends well. Highly recommend the Pendleton & the Sherlock Holmes!

I pulled in and wasn't exactly sure what my next course of action. Large menu boards outside and people eating in their cars suggested a drive-in but I had kind of wanted to eat inside. Now I wasn't sure if there was an inside. A server came to my car window and asked what I wanted so I committed to dining in the vehicle. The server was friendly, took my order, and headed back inside. From my car, I could watch the Christmas light display on the ball fields below the restaurant. The server returned with my order and I decided to return to my hotel to eat. At least, that was the plan, but my small peanut butter milkshake was gone by the time I parked at the hotel. Very creamy (soft serve I think) with a touch of milk to make it drinkable. Went down quickly - tasty! I also got a hot dog, corn dog, and tater tots. The hot dog was good. A classic mustard, chili, slaw. Cold by the time I got to the hotel but that's not Dairy Bar's fault. The corn dog was good too. Fresh from the fryer though the mustard I had asked for got left out. Tots were crunchy and hot. With I had gotten more than a couple ketchup packets but I could have asked. All in all, I'd recommend Dairy Bar and I'd return to try their other items and get a larger milkshake next time!

I got hungry and decided to head to the closet town to me, and happened upon this place after getting some gas and snacks at a gas station heading into town. My girlfriend is not from North Carolina, so I wanted to give her some NC BBQ experience, and this place DID not disappoint, in fact, they inspired me to smoke my own baked potatoes at home, who knew the smoker could make a mean baked potato? Well, these guys (and gals) apparently. The inside is a typical NC BBQ joint - old cigarette advertisements, as well as Pepsi, metallic sculptures, folk art and the like. We both got sandwiches, as it was just lunch and we had a nice dinner at home planned, so I got the brisket sandwich, and she got the pulled pork, both were good, but we both really enjoyed the brisket. The sauces on offer were also great, I tried them all, as a few were to spicy for her, but none the less, they all had great flavor and depth, and even the spicy ones had different elements other than "heat". The star of the show was the "Smoked mashed potatoes" they potatoes on the smoker and smoke them for a few hours and then turn them into mash with butter, some cream and garlic and onion power, topped with cheese these mashed potatoes changed my world. As I said at the start of this review, I will be copying this idea at home, very shamelessly. I am glad I spotted them, and even happier that our lovely waitress told me they were life changing.
