I shoulda got the pork chop. Instead I got the roast beef over Texas toast with potatoes. It was a thin piece of meat, like lunch meat, and it was black. By the time our plates came our family was almost finished with theirs...they had the pork chop and it was really good-fried, tender, flavorful. SIL had a bunch of veggies, including a tomato pudding/casserole that was interesting and tasty. We tried the house made carrot cake and the German chocolate cake-both tasted like they were made from a Betty Crocker box mix. The best thing I had was some cinnamon sugar butter they served with the sweet potato. That butter was memorable! I went home and made some! read more

I personally love the food and I'd say it's pretty affordable, nice people that work there.

The food is always good here. I like that they spruced the place up with decorations as before it was rather plain inside. Though the prices are WAY TOO HIGH for what you get and the portions seem to have shrunk. When I got the chicken breast the other day, the piece was so small, at the most, you could have gotten 3 bites out of it. Until the prices change, I think I'll skip and go somewhere else. We asked for water several times and never got any. The eggs were runny and all the food was cold. After eating I immediately got sick. When we told the lady at the checkout that I had threw up she just shrugged her shoulders and smiled. I have been here many times and everything was great. Standard southern country fare, healthy portions, and very inexpensive. Lots of desserts (pies, crumbles, etc.). The food is not fine cuisine, but you wouldn't expect that - it is solidly good - a real taste of local cuisine, and hard to beat at the price. The food is rich and heavy, the desserts a little to syrupy and sweet, the frying heavy - but that's pretty standard southern food. The staff is very friendly, and the restaurant is extremely popular with locals. It's a good experience to have, but don't eat there regularly unless you are trying to gain weight. read more

Don't get me wrong, the food is always good, but this place used to be reasonable for breakfast. My son and I stopped by a couple weeks ago, both had 2 eggs, bacon, grits and toast with 2 Waters! The bill was $18.00 and they charged us $1.25 each for a glass of WATER! Really? Water right out of the spigot! I think I'll be wandering over to Lake View or Crooked Creek Diner for breakfast! And please mop the floor and wipe the walls off, it was pretty filthy! read more

Breakfast is ok, but not great. The food portions are a bit sparse, although the price partly reflects it. The country ham is small and dry. The grits tasted stale - with salt and pepper not helping much . Service was good. Value for the price is ok. read more

Went here for breakfast based in some prior reviews--should have noticed they were 2 years ago. I had an egg and sausage sandwich which was ok--cheese was just slapped on the top, not melted as I expected, but that was not a hill to die on. My husband had the breakfast special--sausage gravy and biscuits with 2 eggs over easy. His meal was not good--eggs were basically uncooked and slimy-his gravy was cold. The place needs a good cleaning and some new chairs--they were falling apart. I would not recommend this place. The egg sandwich at the local gas station was much better! read more

This place was ok. Me and my brother went he found a seed in his Mountain Dew. I didn't like that the waitress kept correcting my brother when he was ordering just because he didn't say ma'am. The food was ok I got the burger and onion rings the onion rings didn't seem all the way done. They forgot to give me napkins and silverware so I had to get up and get them my self. We probably want go back to this place I tought would be good the way people talked about it. read more

A great hole in the wall, local place to eat. A few locals sent us here for breakfast and the prices remind me of what we paid 20 years ago. The food isn't gourmet by any means. It's a step up from the Waffle House. Meanwhile at this price point no one should complain. It's a great option for a local breakfast with solid service and won't send you home hungry. Much less greasy than a Shoney's or Denny's too. Try their buckwheat pancakes (if they have them that day). Interesting flavor and something different! Dont expect to be wowed here, but do expect to be joined by locals. read more

If you want low prices and low quality of school food it's great. I had scrambled eggs that were not cooked fully I nearly puked. They make southern food that only northerners and the elderly can enjoy . Unfortunately all great restaurants that once we're in galax 15 years ago were all bought out by the same person . So I can not recommend a real homemade southern restaurant that is worth your time or money. read more

I grew up eating at County Line. Although the ownership changed a couple years ago the quality of food, friendly service and unbeatable prices remains the same. County Line is definitely a staple in Galax and the go to place for country home cooking. I love the rustic feel to the place and it is fun running into people you know. Although I no longer live in Galax whenever I visit we try to make it into County Line. You definitely get more than your money's worth. read more

If your looking for simple country food at a great price this is your stop in Galax. I eat here at least a couple times a month, and the food is always good and the wait staff wonderful. They offer a good selection of vegetables, and the usual country fair such as fried chicken, and hamburger steak. The prices are even better than the food, almost everything on the menu being under ten dollars a plate. I have eaten the breakfast special there many times and left with my total being under five dollars! The place is nothing fancy, but it's not trying to be. County line is simply good food at a good price. read more

We had dinner here tonight, the second time in a couple weeks. We chose from the specials list both times and so far have been fully satisfied. Our food was straightforward comfort food, well prepared, and delivered very quickly. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. To sum it up County Line Café is a place with decent food and decent prices. The service was pretty good considering I went on a crowded morning. The food was ok. You could get the same food, service and price from Hardees. Honestly, I would prefer Hardees. There's more space to move around in at Hardees.
