I've boarded two horses at Mountain Meadow Equestrian Center for the last six years. My Thoroughbred mares were spooky and difficult to handle when we arrived from Pennsylvania. Louise is gentle, consistent, and gave my girls the time they needed to settle in. They responded and relaxed. The pastures are maintained extremely well with plenty of space and good grass. The barn is always clean with great air circulation and the wash stall has hot and cold water. The indoor arena expands riding opportunities to rainy days. Louise is the best! read more

We've been attending Miyas Horseback Lessons for about a year now, and we truly couldn't be happier with our experience. The grounds are always clean and well maintained, and it's very clear that the horses are healthy, well cared for, and loved. In the entire year we've been there, we honestly haven't had a single bad experience and look forward to many more years to come. Ms. VanCleoff is an incredible instructor -- patient, knowledgeable, and wonderful to work with. She takes the time to provide quality one-on-one instruction and creates such a welcoming and supportive environment. I do not recommend doing business with this barn owner. On the surface the facility may appear acceptable and Louise may have been an accomplished English style equestrian, but my experience over several months showed significant concerns that prospective boarders should be aware of. I boarded my horse here from September 2025 until March 8, 2026. I paid the $600 monthly full board on time each month and also paid the full month of March even though I removed my horse early. Before describing my experience, it is important to note that horses have been a part of my life since childhood. My family owns an 11,000-acre ranch in the western United States and my former in-laws own a 7,000-acre ranch. I have spent years working around horses and livestock, breaking, riding, and training horses and working in ranch environments. Because of that background, I came to this barn with a well-established understanding of horse care, forage-based feeding, and livestock facility management. Full board at this barn included services such as stall cleaning, unlimited hay, water, feed, grooming, exercise, and turnout/bring-in. Although these services were offered, I chose to handle most of my horse's daily care myself because I prefer to personally manage my horse. I made that clear from the beginning. I paid the full board rate primarily to have access to a stall and turnout rather than pasture board. My biggest concern during my stay was forage. Horses rely primarily on hay for their diet, so it was very important to me that my horse always have consistent access to good quality hay. I found communication with the owner disrespectful, dismissive, and often confrontational. My attempts to discuss my horse's care were repeatedly met with condescension and pressure to surrender control over my horse's feeding and management. I came in with an established, comprehensive and successful feeding and handling program for my horse and made clear that, although I was paying full board, I would continue to manage her grain, supplements, and much of her daily care myself. That boundary was repeatedly challenged. I was frequently told I did not know what I was talking about, pressured to let the owner take over my horse's feeding, and corrected or criticized while working with my own horse. Per the owner's request, I also briefly helped the barn when they were short staffed and ended up doing substantial work including stripping stalls and scrubbing water buckets. Although I had been offered $15 per hour or board credit, I was later told the barn could not afford to pay those wages and I ultimately accepted only a partial board credit. I observed periods where hay quality was poor and sometimes inconsistent in availability. At one point the owner herself commented that several horses in the barn were looking "ribby." After that point, my horse was repeatedly singled out regarding her body condition because I would not allow the owner to take over her feeding program. Other horses were subsequently given significantly increased grain mixed with corn oil to increase their weight, while I chose to address my horse's condition through forage and my own feeding program. This difference in approach became a continuing point of conflict. During the same period that I was raising concerns about hay quality and dust, my horse developed a minor respiratory symptom. At the owner's insistence, I had a veterinarian come out to evaluate it, which resulted in a $575 bill. Out of caution and to maintain a cooperative relationship at the barn, my veterinarian and I proceeded with antibiotics even though I did not believe they were necessary. The lab results that arrived afterward showed bacterial counts too low to necessitate antibiotic treatment, confirming that the situation was not serious. The timing of the issue was one of the reasons I had been concerned about the hay and barn dust in the first place. Finally, in my experience, management by Louise at this barn often reflected older horse care practices that did not align with current evidence-based guidance, including a more traditional deworming mindset rather than the surveillance based approach now recommended by organizations such as the AAEP. I want to be fair and note that David, the barn's fulltime staff, was extremely hardworking, kind, friendly, and knowledgeable and was the bright spot in my experience, as were other boarders. This review reflects my personal experience boarding here. I am leaving it because I would have wanted this information before boarding. I personally would not board here again. read more

I feel blessed to be at the stable. My horses are well taken care of and very content on pasture. The facility comes amazing amenities and Louise is very knowledgeable and dedicated to the care of the horses. It's a very peaceful place to come and spend time with my horses. read more

I absolutely love taking my daughter for lessons here. We have learned so much from Louise who knows a tremendous amount about everything related to horses. Her experience and knowledge make her the best instructor I have found and I highly recommend her. read more

Great Stable! Louise has gone above and beyond for my horses and I. We moved to TN 9 months ago from South Florida and she helped my horses acclimate to the colder weather without any issues. She is extremely knowledgeable and has taught me some great tips on how to keep horses happy and healthy up here. her facility is so beautiful and peaceful. she is truly a great person and I cant recommend her and Mountian Meadow Equestrian Center enough! read more

I have two mares boarded here and I cannot express my satisfaction enough. They are well cared for and their health & safety is top priority. I don't have a single worry about their well-being. Louise is top-notch and definitely knows what she's doing. For the type of care that is provided, she could charge a lot more than she does. If you are looking for a safe & responsible place to board your horse, take lessons and just enjoy the slice of heaven that this property is, I highly recommend Mountain Meadow Equestrian Center. read more

There is no place I can think of that I would rather have my horse and no one I would trust more than Louise to take care of him. Mountain Meadow is beautiful, the stalls are spacious, both the covered and outdoor rings are well maintained and Louise is great with the horses. I have both had riding lessons from her and observed her teaching others and know she knows her craft. No matter when I have stopped in during the 8 years or so that I have been coming to Mountain Meadow I have never had a bad experience either with Louise or the center. My horse is thriving here and I have no worries when I can't make it out, I know he is being taken care of by the best. read more

If I could get away with never having boarded my horses there, I would be a happy camper. I originally contacted the owner, stating that I needed a place to board, but my horse needed a specific diet. She both demeaned my feeding schedule (which had worked beautifully before and since) and insulted me as not knowing any better. She assured me that her feeding schedule would be better. Instead of feeding my horse what she advertised, she fed him a combination of whole oats (which we found in his 'droppings'), senior feed and a 10/5 feed that I think should have been branded for goats. He, naturally, dropped weight like a stone at sea. He, and my yearling, showed signs of severe stress, and there were multiple occasions where she was out of feed, the pipes were frozen, and she was snowed in to the location. So... how did my horse eat or drink?? I kept before and after pictures and still have them from this time. I hate to look at them as the big guy dropped half the weight I had spent so much time and money on building. Then, when I left, she threatened a law suit for slander (it's only slander if it's not true) then accosted the other boarders for "bullying" me away from her farm when it was all her. She's erratic, irresponsible, and self-justified in all she does. DO NOT BOARD HERE EVER! It's a pretty package, yes, and her first impressions are great, but the truth always comes out (all ex-boarders know each other and are wryly amused when we all have the same horror story). read more
