I would NOT recommend this company if you value your belongings. They are not trained, they don't know the first thing about packing or stacking inside a storage trailer. They stacked furniture pieces that have metal feet on top of other wood furniture with no protection at all. The tops are scratched badly. They put heavy boxes and large taxidermy pieces on top of leather chairs, permanently damaging the leather. Heavy boxes were stacked on top of other boxes that caved in from the weight. These people should not be in the moving business. read more

If I could give this company negative stars I would. The company did not live up to it's obligation and Marvin, the owner, flat out lied! Do not use them. Period. For those of you wanting additional information: After getting a written bid and scheduling the date, my mother's moving date arrived. What was supposed to be a crew of 6, was a crew of 2. They only worked part of the day, showed up with several boxes no packing materials (when the bid included the cost to fully pack a 2500 square foot house and packing was described by the owner as "boxing and bubble wrapping" items) and failed to do the job they had committed to. The crew stopped work in mid-afternoon, lied about "coming back" (they never came back) leaving my 70 year old mom and (temporarily disabled) stepfather to try box and try to move themselves. When confronted with angry phone calls, the owner lied about the actions of he and his crew. Big, heavy items are still left in the house. What kind of a business or business owner does that? Someone disingenuous; and certainly no one that you want to enter into a business arrangement with. read more

DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED. We moved from a large house in Idaho to our second home in Arizona. Since the Arizona house was already furnished, we only needed to move 8-10 large pieces of furniture (dining table & 6 chairs, patio table & 6 chairs, pier group for king size bed, air bed and platform, dresser, armoire, TV table and TV, sofa table, and a grandfather clock). We walked through the house with Marvin Howard (owner of Mountain Movers) pointing out all of the furniture we wanted moved. We told him we would also have lots of boxes since we were packing our stuff ourselves. He said it would fit in a 17 foot truck and even talked me out of taking a 6x12 Uhaul trailer load earlier, saying there would be plenty of room on the truck. He texted me a quote for $4787.87 plus $400 for packing TV and pictures. As we progressed with our packing, we realized we had a lot more boxes than we originally thought and communicated that to Marvin. He said not to worry. One of Marvin's main guys (Larry) did a walk-though the day before the move and we again noted everything we wanted moved and showed him the boxes. Marvin told us he found another load to fill out the truck so was going to use a bigger truck. However, after they loaded the truck, Marvin called me and said we had way more stuff than we told him. He said that we told him the furniture that was to be moved was staying. The reality was that we filled a 26' truck. Larry told us he told Marvin, after the walk through, there would be room for another load on the same truck only if the other load was one box. Anyway, Marvin called me and said his breakeven on the trip was going to be $7500 and wanted me to agree to pay that. At that point, since I did not have any documented specifics in the quote (my fault) and that he had all of our stuff loaded, there was nothing I could do but agree and pay him. Wait, there's more. The driver arrived as scheduled. However, the moving crew that was supposed to meet us early that morning to unload before it got hot (Arizona, August) never showed up. After trying to get someone to find a crew for us to unload (both the driver and myself are old with bad backs), the driver and I drove around our small town and found several young guys willing to unload. Luckily, the driver had the money to pay the original crew so I did not have to pay them out of my pocket. However, it was noon and over 100 degrees before we started unloading. Wait, there's more. We found the truck was packed very poorly. All of the glass shelves in a curio cabinet were broken and most of the furniture was marred from rubbing on things. Thankfully, the grandfather clock came through unscathed. I have yet to pursue compensation for the broken and damaged items since I don't even want to talk to Marvin again. In hindsight, some of this was my fault for not getting things documented with the quote or even recording the walk-through with Marvin. However, Marvin is very personable and seemingly trustworthy. I also let my guard down since the daughter of a friend of mine is a friend of Marvin. read more

A decision to hire a mover is not one to be taken lightly, after all, the mover hired is handling everything you own! I did my best to research and discuss my moving plans so as to find a mover who could handle the job. Unfortunately, it turned out that was not the case...at all. I should have known that after phase 1 of the move when the actual costs were five times the amount in the bid that there would be continued problems. However, since my belongings were already, at that point, in the possession of this mover, I did my best to work through and resolve issues. Even with daily calls to the owner and lead representative handling my job, texts, emails, and a very thorough and detailed spreadsheet inventorying all items, my move was riddled with problems. From items moved from my home to the wrong destination to items damaged and broken. From an incomplete inventory by the mover to regular changes in schedule. All that said, perhaps the most egregious problem was that a number of iems were "lost." I got the remote to my tv but not actual tv. I got the lamp shade, with no lamp. A queen-size bed disappeared. While mistakes happen, what was done here was clearly not a mistake. No responsibility was taken, no accountability was assumed. There has been no follow-up or initiative taken to resolve the issues. So, then, I took it upon myself to research and determine costs for replacement and suggest a more than reasonable solution. That, too, was ignored. The owner did not want to file an insurance claim. Contracts were signed but promises not kept. High dollar was charged, but service was rock bottom. After spending more than $10,000 on a move, I was certainly not expecting to have so many items mis-directed, damaged, broken or lost. read more

Two months later we found a quiet cabin in Wilson and requested Darian help get us settled in. Darian remembered to treat all of our antique and expensive pieces with care without supervision. I moved from Jackson to Denver recently and had many items I was reluctant to entrust into someone else's care but my fears were put to rest when everything showed up in perfect condition. I was moving the contents of a 2300 square foot townhouse in Jackson Wyoming to the Los Angeles area. I contacted Mountain Movers and met with Marvin the owner. I had his company come to my place and pack a number of prints and paintings. They did a good job. The cost was $450. Reasonable. We weren't going to move for about a month. My daughter and I packed everything else in the house. I told Marvin I had gone on line and was going to rent a smallish U-Haul and take a load of boxes and smaller items down to California myself. The estimated the cost of the truck online plus gas and insurance was $1200. Marvin said he had a truck going to Los Angeles and would add my items for the $1200 and save me the trouble. Please realize there were no large items in this load. Simply boxes we had packed and the pictures they had packed. There was no truck. He showed up at my place with a small U-Haul trailer and loaded it in 40 minutes. He said he would meet me in Los Angeles in a few days. He had a stop in Las Vegas. He showed up at a storage unit in Los Angeles 3 days late and presented me with a bill for $3400. $1200 plus the packing he had done totaled $1650. He is not to be trusted. There was no reason for the almost $2000 extra he demanded. I should have reported him to the government. read more
