We loved our stay and experience! First off....we can't say enough great things about both Ryan and Rachel. They were incredibly helpful during our stay going above and beyond in helping guide us in our decisions with GNP hiking and local dining. Our room was super clean, comfortable, and had all the essentials. In fact, they even loaned us a screwdriver for a few days to help us tighten hiking poles during our trip :) I love the fact there is a second sink/vanity area in the space ...super helpful and convenient. While I know they can't control this....we found all the people staying at the motel equally friendly in the common area and it made it such an overall warm and welcoming experience! You can believe the reviews. This is a 4th generation owner that cares about his product. The room was spotless, everything worked, and the bed was fine. It has basic accommodations, but the price is appropriate. I felt safe and was quite satisfied with our stay. The motel has a very cool history, and the owner was proud to share it. He was also very helpful pointing out places to go (and not go) in East Glacier. We were thrilled parking directly in front of our room, vs. climbing stares to the third floor, as we had to at Glacier Park Lodge. read more

A very nice place in this area, superb host and fantastic location. The hose allows you to cancel anytime before the day of your stay, which is a very nice thing to have when you start to make plans but don't have everything finalized yet. After spending a few nights at different towns close to the park, here feels like back to the modern world. The room is a lot bigger than other places we've stayed, here has double queen beds, very clean bathroom; and all the basics you need. The host is one of the best I've encountered. They have bear spray for you to borrow for free. The hose Ryan is knowledgeable about the park and shared lots of useful info with us. His family has a rich history in this area, I enjoyed the conversation with him a lot! Two Medicine is 20 minutes by car. From here to St. Mary and Many Glaciers are not too far either, especially you don't have to meet the crowds on the Going-to-the-sun Road. I definitely recommend this place to anyone wants to check out the east side of Glacier NP. read more

After dinner at Luna's and some great conversation with Luna, I made my way to Sherburnes Mountain Pine Motel. Luna told me that this family owned inn has been in business and in the family for years. The family actually used to own a store and took a lot of business on tab. Eventually they acquired the land from so many unpaid bills. Or something of that sort, I should have taken better notes. My room was exactly what I expected for the low price I paid. It was impeccably clean, quaint, woodsy and yes, outdated. I loved it! I checked in fairly late and Terry, the son of the owner, stayed up late for me, walked me to my cabin which was already perfectly heated and made sure the lights were on. He was also there when I checked out in the morning and gave me a map and lots of tips for my trip through Glacier National Park. The rooms are nestled among the trees. The air crisp. It was just a great place to be. I would gladly stay here again. read more

Thank you, thank you yelpers! What a great place! Updated with love and operated by the grandson of the previous owners. They took the original footprint and updated, but kept the character of the rooms. It was homey but cool, clean and comfortable. Then there was the hospitality. We took every one of the host's recommendations and were never disappointed. Even after reading lots of books and blogs about Glacier, we found the host to be the most helpful. He directed us to two days of memorable hikes. Then needing fuel, he sent us to great restaurants. Freshly ground coffee for brewed in our room was the better than our coffee at home! read more

The motel is situated in a quiet area (caveat that this was not during peak tourism periods). There are approximately 15 different rooms to rent, and they have different bed options (double queen, king, single queen, etc.) The rooms are extremely neat and clean. There are windows that provide a good chunk of natural lighting if the day isn't overcast. I can't vouch for every single bed that they have at the establishment, but I found the bed to be extremely comfortable (double queen room). The room I stayed in had two sinks, one in the bathroom, and one in the general sleeping area which is useful should you be sharing the room with another. The room comes with a couple of fans (for the summer months, I imagine), a mini fridge, and a microwave. A small TV was also provided should you have need of it. The bathroom was simple, but clean. Water pressure in the shower was great, no issues there. The lights in the room were sufficient for after dark hours once the sun goes down. Each room comes with a designated parking space that's generally right in front of the rooms for easy access, and there are a few chairs kept outside each unit should you choose to sit outside the room. Each room comes with two physical keys (non-keycards) that may be dropped off at the office or in the key box kept outside of the office. The only downside to this spot is the lack of a hair dryer, so be sure to bring one if you usually use one. Otherwise, no complaints. Should I ever be in this area, I'll definitely look to book again as the staff were friendly/helpful, and the establishment met the needs that I had for a few days while visiting the area. read more

Amazing motel! Guy at the front was Incredibly knowledgeable about the park and saved our butts from going on a snowbound hike! Talked with him for over an hour, great guy!! After a very long day of driving from Yellowstone on June 25, 2011, we finally arrived at the inviting Mountain Pine Motel. The owners are extremely nice and welcoming. After checking in and chatting with Terry, the owner, I realized I hadn't paid for the room. I returned to the office, almost in a panic. Terry wasn't worried and said he figured he'd be paid at some point. That's when I knew I wasn't in California any longer. Our room was very clean, very retro, and quiet. The location, to the north of the Glacier Park Lodge, is what I would consider the better part of East Glacier (the main drag was rather run down and had a not great reservation vibe), close to some restaurants and a laundry facility. We really enjoyed our stay here and can't think of any reason not to give this motel five stars. Note: For a great dinner, visit Luna's, where I had a wonderful tri-tip steak. Being on a reservation, most area restaurants don't have very difficult to get liquor licenses, but diners are free to bring their own beverages, which can be purchased at Brownie's (a store and Internet cafe), right down the street. The joke goes that every restaurant in Montana has the best huckleberry pie, but the pie at Luna's was outstanding: a thin graham cracker crust with cream cheese spread on it, then piled high with huckleberries. That pie was a highlight of our road trip! read more

I spent 6 nights here in early September as part of an organized hiking group. I love rustic little mom and pop places like this, so I was perfectly happy here. The hotel itself is not very modern, the beds and pillows weren't great, but I wouldn't expect them to be in this kind of place. If you want fancy, stay down the street at the Glacier Lodge. The location is great - you are within a short walk to several restaurants and shops and a bit longer walk to the train station (they will pick you up) and the "downtown" area of East Glacier. If you are looking for a room to crash in after a day of sightseeing, I would definitely recommend this place. I believe the rooms were less than $100 per night but they do book up early. read more

It's an okay motel overall. Though they have small room and bathroom, you won't find any larger one in other hotels in this area. However, if you spend days in park or any hotel near park, you will feel you come back to modern life: they have TV, coffee machine, microwave, power outlets, and most importantly, WiFi, which allows me write review here. It is nowhere near the main entrance of Glacier National Park. Two Medicine is close by with less to do there. The upside is the place itself at the price you pay. The room has little to offer other than the standards. The bathroom we were in had been remodeled recently and was very nice. The room is tiny and rather dark. Brighter lights would be nice. Every evening we found a ton of mosquitoes in the room of which minutes had to be removed. For a basic room, it was perfect. When you flushed the toilet, your neighbor did lose some water pressure if they were in the shower:) The owners were friendly and helpful and tried to help whenever they could. This isn't a bad low price option. read more

My cousin booked this place and when we rolled up to it, I gasped in fear that all my worst nightmares were about to come true. Needless to say, this is not my typical kind of lodging. When she said, "there is no air conditioner," I about fainted! We walked inside and I was pleasantly surprised with a very clean room and a well appointed bathroom. The night air quickly cooled the room to a comfortable sleeping temperature. The outdoors area was pretty cool with a totem pole, flowers, and picnic tables. The owner was so sweet and made sure we had everything we needed, including extra pillows and mail service. I must admit, you can't always judge a book by its cover and I would gladly stay here again if I'm ever in the area! read more

I really enjoyed my stay here. Happy to give my business to a local, family-run place like this instead of a chain hotel. The host was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I had just done some backpacking in the national park and he was more than willing to give us a place to store our extra gear and allowed us a place to dry out our wet tent and hiking equipment outside. In addition, the host offered us a range of recommendations for local restaurants and provided me a free ride back to the Amtrak station when it was time for me to depart. The host clearly understands and anticipates the varied (and sometimes unusual) needs of tourists and is ready to help. For example, when I mentioned that I was taking the Amtrak train, he clearly knew the schedule of the train without having to look it up. Without me having to ask, he also pulled up the website that tracks the location of the train and let me know that my train was delayed and offered to allow me to leave my gear there while I waited. The accommodations themselves are very clean and well maintained and the staff is friendly. While it is not a "luxurious" place, everything about the place was very clean and in good condition. According to the owner, all of the rooms had recently had new mattresses installed...and I had no reason to doubt it: the beds were actually comfortable and I slept well. The grounds were immaculately kept and the wifi works well. If you're looking for a clean, safe, no-fuss, reasonably-priced place to stay while you're near the park, I highly recommend it. read more

They should bottle this place up and ship it to hipster cities to sell as a going back in time, old-school motel experience. It's no frills, and the rooms are stuck in the 80s (wood paneling and wood laminate everywhere), but everything is extremely well cared-for and clean. The family-run front desk was very friendly and helpful so we could find places to eat, since cell reception was sketchy there. At $70 a night, and one of few decent options in the area, I was very very satisfied. We were pulling a trailer with ATVs and the host Ryan was very helpful with finding us a room with good parking as well as providing great suggestions for fun nearby trails to ride. Unbelievable place; a very, very well-kept "old-style" motel. It is both charming and rustic with a casual, relaxed atmosphere. The innkeepers, Terry and Doris, are the friendliest people you would ever want to meet (exactly what you would expect in Montana). This motel is super clean and fresh. The rooms are roomy and omfortable. It is very convenient to Glacier National Park (east and west entrances). It has clean linens and towels, and basic stuff. There was an older TV, but there was no cable (I can't say for sure, since I didn't really watch the TV). There was free wi-fi. I stayed in May 2010, the off-season. The rate was super-cheap. $57 a night. I don't know what the rate is during the season. I highly recommend this place, not only for the convenience to Glacier but also for the sheer charm of it. Book your room early because it is filled up during June, July & August - the peak season for Glacier National Park. Even though the place was older, I still rate it 5 stars for cleanliness and friendliness. I really loved the retro feel of it; it reminded me of when I would vacation on the Florida Keys in the 60s when I was a child. Very small room which when you look at the town of East Glacier Park, it is not a flaw. The room was very clean! The bed and pillows were terrible! Worst night sleep I ever had. Also the room was hot even with the Thermostat set on 62 degree. We had to open a window. read more

Ok, I'm a tough critic, but this place deserves five stars. We had no reservations coming out of the park, needed a place to stay, and found this gem, it was end of peak season and we checked out this motel and found no issues with it prior to saying yes to staying here. The front desk was nice enough to let us see the rooms first. It was a clean place to stay at and dirt cheap. You can park right in front of your room. The biggest plus it is walking distance to Luna's restaurant. Finally we didn't have to drive ions into the dark roads in the middle of nowhere to find a decent sleeping place. Out west, the hotels/motels/inns are few and far in between. I'm pretty sure this motel is much more expensive during peak season. read more

Clean, compact and comfy. I loved this motel- from my parking space which was right next to my room (#18) , which made it easy to load and unload after long days in the park, to the location, which was within walking distance of the Lodge, the Whistle Stop, and Brownies. The beds are very comfortable, there is plenty of light in the room, a fridge, MW, coffee maker and cable TV. Clean towels, bedding, etc and very nice owners. I recommend it highly. read more

If there was ever a place that says "Montana Charm" this is it. The start of my experience was with Terry who was so friendly and kind plus offered loads of great history on the area and the hotel. The check in process was a pleasant moment as you felt like family right away (I should have asked what was for dinner... darn, missed that opportunity). The room is spacious and clean, best I have had since visiting this area from Seattle. The price is perfect too, $98 cant beat that. If visiting East Glacier and the Two medicine area, make this your destination to spend the night. So glad I did. read more

Wow - this hotel is the real deal. If you need something less expensive than Glacier Lodge, but still want clean, friendly, and personable - THIS MOTEL IS WONDERFUL!!! My husband and I loved it as it's a relic - an old-school motor inn - but we were amazed at how wonderfully kempt it is! Pristine, super-clean, no odor, the fixtures, though dated, looked brand-new. The property is likewise - clean, well-kempt, flowers everywhere, great service. SO GLAD we found this play to stay in East Glacier and we will definitely use them again next trip! I never take the time to write reviews, but Sherburnes Mtn. Pine deserves some praise. It is the best small private motel we've found in the Glacier area. Managers are friendly and responsive. Rooms well maintained and clean. Beds were terrific! We stayed off season for $61. There are not a lot of extras that some travelers expect like a coffee pot, but we will return to Mtn. Pines as often as we can. read more
