I love to smell candles. Turns out they have a lot more than candles! From soaps to a selection of Yala brand clothing, Uncommon Scents is full of things to help me unwind after a long day. I didn't have a lot if time to look around initially, so I decided to sample oils from their bath oil bead bar and come back to try out their scent bar full of essential oils and other scents. They have a bath bomb that smells exactly like Oregon rain, so I grabbed that, too. The oil beads add the perfect amount of smell to a bath and I'll definitely be restocking them regularly! For my second trip to Uncommon Scents, I arrived with a vague recipe my mom gave me for the blend of essential oils she used to mix and spray when I was a child. One of the kind women that works there explained how the bar worked and mixed the recipe for me. It was exactly like I remembered it to smell, even though my mom had forgotten the exact measurements. I gave it to my mom for Christmas and she was so happy!

Their selection of organic herbs is incredible -- everything I've ordered has arrived fresh, fragrant, and high quality, and I really appreciate that many of their herbs are locally sourced whenever possible. Shipping is always fast, and I love that they offer back-in-stock notifications so I can keep track of harder-to-find items without constantly checking the website myself. It's clear they've put thought into making the experience easy and supportive for customers. What really makes them stand out to me is that they're more than just a place to buy herbs. They also offer books, classes, and educational resources that help connect people to the wider herbal community. Whether you're completely new to herbalism or have been studying plants for years, they make learning feel accessible and welcoming. Mountain Rose Herbs feels like a company that genuinely cares about plants, sustainability, education, and the people using their products -- and that's rare these days.

Show up and plan to stay a while. Everything about this place was fascinating. The wall of looseleaf tea was particularly astounding. They have a small magnetic display of containers that lets you visualize and smell each type of tea before you purchase. I was particularly enamored with the vanilla rooibos. I love the vintage setting in this aging building. The coffee shop next-door is phenomenal and the local home goods store across the street is a personal favorite. The trio would be an excellent way to spend a meandering afternoon and indulge yourself in fresh coffee, natural products and a few things to upgrade your home interior. Parking is really easy in the dedicated lot and the location is quite central. Prices are very reasonable and the employees were very friendly. I didn't see a bathroom so you might have to go next-door to the coffee shop. Next time I visit, I want to try the shortbread near the checkout counter.

One thing I like about this place is you can get samples to take home to try out colors, or to see if you break out from face cleanser, or moisturizer. I have very sensitive skin, so this is really important to me. They seem to have hired pretty knowledgeable girls who know the right color matches. In the past I would not have said this. I am very picky when it comes to my hair, and make up products. There are a couple of products I recently tried, and I have been really liking them with no break outs. The Ole Heneriksen lines, and the make up wipes by Sephora. I don't care for the cucumber scented ones I recently purchased...I liked the coconut one better. I also really am liking the Born this way concealer by Too Faced. I sampled some foundation which was the Lancôme ( I use already) and Laura Mercier. I think I like the Laura Mercier better. I have been a faithful Lancôme user for many years, but I hate the scent they put in the foundation. The Laura Mercier powder I tried a sample of as well, compared to the Lancôme, MAC, and Clinique. Laura for the win. There are too many favorite shadows to list, and eye liners I have not tried here. I use MAC. I did really like the Too Faced mascara, but it doesn't last long. It seems to flake. It is beautiful on. I just can't stand the flakiness. I went back to the MAC. Might try another from here. Also the Benefit brow bar rocks! Danika is legit! She gets your Oscar the Grouch looking brows looking happy in no time. When she gets a free second she is great at helping chose the right colors, or product.
