I highly recommend Mountain Valley Plumbing & Heating! I had a furnace installed six years ago by a different company, Steele Bros Heating, Inc. located in Denver. My furnace is a high-efficiency condensing furnace, yet they never installed the condensate drain line-- a huge mistake -- it's not only dangerous, but totally embarrassing to overlook such an important part of the installation! I had Mountain Valley Plumbing & Heating come out for a furnace tune up, and their technician, Scott realized the issue. The motor in my furnace was underwater due to the lack of the drain and my furnace wouldn't turn on. I called Steele Bros Heating to fix the problem, and they placed the blame on me, saying I should have had the furnace inspected and that because I didn't have them out once a year for maintenance, they would also void my warranty. I immediately called the City of Boulder inspectors to figure out what to do. They were appalled that a HVAC company wouldn't take responsibility for such a gross error and said it was definitely a civil case. In the meantime, Mountain Valley Plumbing & Heating offered to come out and do the labor to install the condensate drain and fix the motor free of charge! Vice President, JD stated he felt that was the right thing to do and wanted to help out. Scott came back out, installed the drain line and fixed the motor. Anyone but Mt Valley! New owners as of June/July 2022 Previous to the current owners never had a problem in 20+ years. New owners winterize the cabin and the following spring - We have a busted pipe and we were informed that our toilet, which was less a year old also cracked. Toilets are winterized with antifreeze - thus this should never happen. Long story short, the toilet was not busted at all. It was perfectly fine. The busted pipe was due to poor winterization - the line was not completely blown out. Not to mention the plumber left one of our door unlocked when they came to do the work prior to our arrival. Have used this company multiple times prior to the new owners. The old company was fantastic. New owners not willing to warranty work of past and charges are now exorbitant. As a General Contractor and designer have worked with multiple subs and their prices are insane. That a plumber from Vail or Denver is less money in Estes Park than these guys. Will never recommend nor use again. A simple Home depot bucket and hosing that cost 39.00 in Materials and took 15 minutes to install to Dryer in crawl space they charges 759.00 for. Total rip off. Mountain Valley Plumbing & Heating are not very capable tradesmen. They installed a tankless water heater in my home in December 2023. They left my home, leaving my place a mess and failed to complete their work (photo of extension cord running into separate room shows this). For the past 11 months we have had leak issues due to the faulty workmanship of Mountain Valley. Every heavy rain we are dealing with a leak. They have returned to my home five times (owner included) within the calendar year and STILL cannot fix the issue. They were here last week and tried to blame the roof. They are supposed to show up 11/14 to take a look again but I have serious doubts as to their ability to fix the problem. We will be calling a second contractor to fix their work. read more

Mountain Valley replaced out furnace and we were very pleased with their work. Beginning with technician Gabe who diagnosed the problem with the old furnace and returned almost immediately when we had additional questions; to Zack who was very patient with our questions about new furnaces, to Owen who was polite and respectful in his evaluation of our ducts, and, finally, to Danny who is the SUPERSTAR installer of our new furnace. He patiently answered our questions, talked us through a complicated new thermostat, and left the furnace area cleaner and more organized than it was before we started this process. No show/No call After some hassle trying to communicate through the company's text bot, I was able to schedule a consult at my property in Estes. I called to confirm the appointment and left a voice message but nobody returned the call. Then I got a call from the company asking if I was still interested in scheduling a visit. I told them I already had an appointment scheduled and they "found" it on the calendar. The day before the appointment, I got a call to confirm the appointment but they had the time wrong, which I corrected. Then the day of the appointment, nobody showed up and nobody called me. Once I call their office, my needs are scheduled according to their calendar, and the work performed satisfactorily, in a timely fashion, and at a very reasonable price all the time. My boiler quit working and I called Mountain Valley plumbing and heating.and that was definitely the right call. It was kind of late in the day and I didn't know if a technician would be available. Lindsey the lady who works in the office was very personable and she communicated the urgency of me having no heat to their technicians. She lined up a technician to services my boiler. Had heating issues (temp regulator out then leaking and needed new soder), they came promptly second time and, first time, they called to let us know they'd be late. Had some billing issues but owner clarified and corrected. Otherwise, they did a really good job getting fixed in a timely manner (didn't linger around, adding time for billing). Call someone else!!! This company tries to upsell!!!!!. Their plumbers work on commission. They price by pre-established fees, not by the hour and recommend unnecessary services. I was charged $2800 for what should have been $500 to $600. Their technician was here for two days. I had to call them back to ask for a different technician because the heat still wasn't working after he's been here all that time. Even after the third visit, there were issues. I called another company, and spoke with a technician who I had used before and trust. Apparently Mountain Valley recommended services that were not needed in addition to the valve replacement. They replaced all of them instead of just the faulty one. I was hustled out of $2200. In addition, their technician hung out at my house for probably an hour, trying to help me get financing for a future job that was hugely overbid. he was asking me when I would like to begin the project and said he couldn't guarantee the estimate later. read more

I needed a basement Lift Station (which evacuates waste out to our septic tank/leech field) rejuvenated and Pump replacement. Within 48 hours we had a plumber at our door. Oliver Whitney was extremely professional and it was obvious he took pride in doing a great job. He gave us a deal on a very expensive, but top of the line, pump. He left the area clean with no sewage scum in sight! On his way out the door we chatted and I told him I was gonna make him my personal plumber. We live in the mountains south of Estes and sometimes it's difficult to get any home service fixes to happen in a timely manner. Couldn't be happier, thanks Oliver! read more

We had our furnace blowing cold air on a very cold morning so we called Mountain Valley, hoping we could get someone out sometime that day but were worried that we'd have to wait a day or two in freezing temps. They said someone would come by to look at it in the afternoon. Just a couple hours later - still morning - the technician showed up (wearing a mask), quickly determined that it was a bad ignitor and returned to his shop to get a new one. He returned in about 20 minutes but the new ignitor was bad so he made a second trip back to the shop for another ignitor. He came back in a few minutes, replaced the ignitor and got the furnace running before lunch time and did not charge us for the extra trip to the shop for the bad ignitor. It was one of the quickest and most painless repair experiences I've ever had. I would definitely recommend them to others and will use them again in the future. read more

They don't stand by their work or the products they sell. We have to spend around $1500 a year to keep our system working a lot of the time they will only do a temporary fix but charge you like the problem was solved. To date our hot water system that was purchased from Mountain Valley Plumbing and heating has cost at least $12,000 for a 7 year old system. They over sold my mother on the most expensive option when all she really needed was a $800 water heater. Do your self a favor and shop around. read more

They claimed the work they were called for was complete and left without having someone check their work. The issue was the exact same with little to no work actually being done. They had very little knowledge and absolutely to trouble shooting skills to complete the task. I am now worse off then before they were here. If you want your issue/installation fixed work with a different company. read more
