I have never been treated like just a number when I go to my eye appointments with him. I have been going to Dr. Coon for over 15yrs and now my children see him as well. I have two examples of why I put my faith and trust with Dr. Coon. The first time I had a major eye Injury was about 7yrs ago, at the time I didn't know it but I had scraped off half of my cornea. I woke up in major pain and went to the ER they treated it like I had a small scratch and had me go to TVC the next day. The doctor there gave me antibiotics and that was it. First thing Monday morning I went to see Dr. Coon and he figured out what was wrong right away. He explained the severity of my injury and why I was in so much pain. Once he correct my proscriptions and helped me fully recover he also informed me what to watch out for because I could get an edema from where it healed ect... My eye healed perfectly without any lasting side effects from the injury. My second example is his patients while preforming an eye exam. I know we have all been in that same place were A & B both look the same when the doctor is trying to figure out the perfect prescription for us. Sometimes an eye doctor can get frustrated with going back and forth to A & B or they can be in a hurry. But not Dr. Coon he always makes sure we figure out which one is better before we leave his clinic, even if that means we have to take a small break. If you are looking for an eye doctor I would highly recommend Dr. Coon. I would also like to complement the staff and the optician's for always being friendly and thorough. I would like to give recognition to Paige Raugust that works in their frame department. She helped my middle daughter pick out some amazing frames that fit her to a T during the trunk show. Being in Jr. High they can be very picky, but Paige was up for challenge. A few weeks ago my daughter was hurt at school by another student and he broke her new frames on purpose. It was documented by the school, but this other child was just given a small slap on wrist and didn't even have to pay to replace the frames. We couldn't even get the name of number of the other parents, so we could talk to them about what had happened. Paige heard about what had the incident and talked to her boss. The very next day I received a call from her boss advising that she heard what had happened to my daughter and they were going to replace the frames for fee as a onetime warranty fix. Not only did this make me happy but it made my daughter extremely happy as well. Paying $400 would not have broken us, but it would have sucked. Especially with it not being my daughter fault. The Eye Clinic Of Fairbanks didn't have to replace them for free either, but they did because of the circumstances. This one act of kindness that Paige did taught my daughter a very important lesion on helping others even when you are not required to. And about going above & beyond and making people feel important and cared about. Because of people like Dr. Coon and Paige, I will always recommend the Eye Clinic Of Fairbanks. I will also take the time to explain why this local business should be supported and how amazing the doctors, opticians, and receptionists truly are.

I have been waiting for the contacts I have ordered from them since May. This is over a $500 purchase that I have not received for almost 3 months now. Further, when I first left the clinic I asked if there was a copay and was told no. The clinic has the audacity to call me repeatedly for a $10 copay that I was originally told didn't exist when they owe me over $500. When I first went to the clinic, the technician dilated my eyes when she was not supposed to, so I had to come back a week later. When I came back, the scheduling team had incorrectly scheduled me so that the test that Dr. Wilbur had ordered was not available to be done that day -- so again, I had to return a week later. Since then, I have had to repeatedly call to ask about my contact order. At one point, I was initially told that my contact brand was discontinued, and that I would hear from the office within the next week about options after they spoke with the doctor. That did not happen, so two weeks later I called back. I was then told that the contacts were not discontinued and they were simply on backorder and I would receive them in a week. That was in late June. It is now August. Since then, I was told that my order was cancelled by the manufacturer twice, only after I called to ask for an update. One of those two times, it appeared that the staff had no clue that the order was cancelled until I asked them to check. I have had to drive back to the clinic 4 times to pick up sample contacts because they have failed to fulfill my order. The last two times I was offered bi-weeklys (I wear dailies) that I was told were a "slightly incorrect fit but should be fine" then most recently I was offered the choice between bi-weeklys that were the wrong prescription ( a +0.5 difference) and monthlies. I have been wearing the monthlies and my eyes have not stopped burning for the past several days even after stopping wearing them for a day.
