This is the best gun shop I've ever been to! Doug Henry is an outstanding gunsmith and has reasonable prices.

I brought an 1940s rifle to this gun shop because it was missing a very special part which opens the gun so it can be loaded. I was a little unsure that it could even be fixed, or that it would be worth it. The owner was very patient and carefully looked the gun over and told me he would see what he could do. A few weeks later he called and I came to pick up the gun. He had somehow found the very antique part that was missing, and had cleaned, polished and fixed the gun up so much, I was just elated. Tucked away in a wooded area in the outskirts of Luray, Virginia lies a gun shop that's been around since 1968. Doug Henry runs the place and he's quite knowledgeable with respect to firearms. We went there looking for my girlfriend's first handgun. He was quite patient with her and we narrowed it down to a compact Smith & Wesson 9mm. Since my girl works for the government, her background check took mere minutes and just as we were about to pay for her gun, holster and ammo, I noticed the hand-written sign stating that they do NOT accept credit or debit cards. REALLY? So there we were, Saturday afternoon, out in a remote area and had to drive into town to get cash from an ATM. We stopped at four machines and they were out of order (or out of cash) and then we tried two others - from larger banks - and they would not dispense that much cash. Divine intervention? It was becoming more and more of a pain, since Doug closed up shop in less than an hour - at 4pm. So we just gave up and took it as a sign that she should not own a firearm for now. I did call Doug to inform him that we would not be back since we had a hundred mile trek back home the next day. He lost about a $700 sale because he would not accept cards. It should also be noted that they're closed on Wednesdays and Fridays. Nice guy and a very informed gentleman, but lame policy. Let me just say i just found this jem of a shop while on a family trip to Luray Va. My wife and her family have delt with this shop for 20+ years They have a nice selection of handguns and a Huge selection of rifle's and shotguns and there prices are unbeatable . Doug the shop owner was very plesant and helpful on my selections . I found the VERY BEST price on an excellent 22mag bolt action rifle with an excellent Scope. I no longer have a ground hog problem. Mr. Henry found me just what I needed at the price I could afford. It is a pleasure to look at his stock. No pressure, no sales rap, just facts. He does give it to you straight. There is no haggling here, the prices are right. There is no junk here. My husband took me to Mountain View Gun Shop to buy my first gun and the place was crowed with guys, but Doug make me feel like I was the only person in the shop. Of all the gunshops in a 1 hour radius, this is the best. The staff is helpful and knowledgable, the prices are the BEST, and you can guarantee they will have ammo when you need it. I can get similar, if not better prices on guns than you can find at the major gun shows, and ammo is competitively priced with Wallyworld.. which is hard to find from a gun shop these days. They always have a large inventory of everything you need, and will have plenty of info for you if you need it... The only "con"(I say "con" because it is far from it, but the only negative I can find) is their oddball hours. 4:30-7:30 on Mon/Tues/Thurs, 12-5 on Sat and 10-2 on Sun... DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THESE HOURS, GIVE OR TAKE AN HOUR FOR EACH DAY... but they are closed Wed/Fri... Best gun store ANYWHERE. Doug treats you like you are somebody and always takes great care of you while in his store and on the phone. I have to drive 45 minutes to get there, but it is so worth it! He has a large stock of pistols, revolvers, rifles , shotguns, ammo, optics, hardware and the skill to install that hardware as well. SERVICE WITH A SMILE! I will not buy my firearms anywhere else! On a scale of 1-10, this business is a 20. The odd hours are the only so-called down side, because a shop this great needs to be open EVERYDAY. Awesome. Doug's prices are the lowest you will find. Doug is the best at what he does. His knowledge of the products he sells , no matter what it is he is on top of it. I live four hours away and when I need a quality gun I always no matter what , I get it from Doug. I live twelve miles from Basspro and still I would rather get my guns from Doug. Well enough said.
