Love the Mountaineers and have been coming to games here my whole life but the wait at the concessions for food, water or beer is simply too long. The band is great and the show that the mountaineer football team puts on is always great! If you are new to Morgantown and it is a fall Saturday home game this is the place to be. If you keep hearing the sound of an avalanche, you probably have a condition called Mountain Ear. Don't worry, it won't last (and neither will your boyfriend). First-Hand Experience: Info on my personal visit to this stadium - I've been to the stadium 3 or 4 times, but only once inside. It's absolutely amaaaaaaaazing. The noise of the crowd is matched by the grandeur of this huge monolith of a stadium. Some of the loudest fans in the country and one of my best ever college football experiences! Amazing that this is sleepy little Morgantown. I've been to every cool stadium in the UK & North America, due to my obsession with travel & sport. I've toured America as a musician for 7 or 8 years. In that time, I've seen sports games at, or visited when empty (and usually both), at almost every major stadium in US and Canada. I have pictures of most which I will upload at some point. Also, on future travels, I plan to take new pix, and add more stadia! I went to the November 9th Texas vs West Virginia football game. A few takeaways: 1. WV fans are hands down the nicest most welcoming I have encountered at a college or professional game. During college football season (fall semester) this is probably the heart of Morgantown, WV. There are without a doubt more people getting ready to pregame/tailgate at 7am on game day than any day of the week for class. The energy around the stadium on game day is palpable and the students are always rowdy and energetic. The "LET'S GO...MOUNTAINEERS" chants will give you goosebumps. read more

As a NYC product I really didn't know much about college football in comparison to everything basketball on every level. Yet and still that all changed my first game at Milan Puskar Stadium. Here I cheered on some great guys who were not only great athletes but great friends and they took the Mounties into a great dynasty of Football Greatness! There is nothing better than the Mountianeer Fans the whole stadium in full support of a team that brings extreme happiness not only to the fans in the stand but rumbling the ground and making noise bringing a great sense of happiness for the loyals across the street at Ruby Memorial Hospital who can't make it! I'm not really sure what can be gained from a review of a football stadium, but I'll attempt it anyway. If you're travelling to Morgantown for a game, be prepared for a traffic nightmare. It can seem at times that Morgantown was built for 8,000 residents. Add another 30,000 on game days and you'll suddenly be extolling the virtues of horseback riding. If you are coming to support the away team, expect some good natured ribbing. Contrary to what the popular notion may be, WVU fans are pretty friendly, especially to our new Big 12 opponents. Unless you are openly supporting Pitt, you'll have a good time. Some things to remember: 1. Cell phone service is not the greatest. If you have AT&T, you simply won't be able to text or call at times (and I sincerely hope I can edit that statement soon). 2. Traffic sucks. My advice would be to research the various shuttle bus services that go to the fringes of town, or at least plan to walk. Most of the lots around the stadium are reserved. Also, this season (Fall 2014) will see the biggest construction project in several years clogging up traffic in front of Ruby Memorial. 3. They sell beer at the stadium. Enough said. read more

Wow, coming from a school that doesn't have a strong athletic program WVU is a culture shock. Especially on game day! I was impressed with how serious they took their football and showing off Mountaineer pride! Great atmosphere in the stadium as well. Food is pretty cheap in comparison to other stadiums but I learned that they just started selling beer in the stadium. This means you can't leave during half-time to go tail-gate and then head back for the third quarter as people used to be able to do. WVU has an amazing band and it was pretty cool that they were able to form the state of WV while they were performing. read more

Went to see a WV/OK football game, stayed at the Hampton Inn which is within walking distance which is nice as I didn't have to worry about traffic and parking. Easy to get to the stadium, they has some good food and drink choices, it has bench seats which is the same as I have when going to a Boston College game, the scoreboard was nice, plenty of fan participation, a fun evening out. read more

This is definitely one of the best college football parks in the country for a number of reasons. It is easy to navigate, the field is very visible from any seat in the house (even the front row), there are new display screens, and the food and drink options are vast. Food and drink: Martin's BBQ, Stadium brats & hot dogs which also serves 10 draft beers, including gluten free cider, WOW Chicken tenders and fries, nachos, parfaits, wraps, and the usual stadium fare (candy, chips, popcorn, pizza). I am happy to say that along with the draft and bottled beers sold, they also now sell wine! They usually have white zinfandel, moscato, and merlot. This gluten-free and allergic girl is very pleased! read more

Have been to several other stadiums for college games. This is hands down the most electric place to be for a college football fan. Even if you aren't a Mountaineer fan the experience will impress. Tips: Parking and post-game traffic are a major issue. If you don't have a parking pass or want to be on a shuttle bus you should enter and leave the stadium via Exit 7 off of I-68. From I-68 it is 857, left on 119, and right on 705. At the bottom of the hill take a left onto Don Nehlen Drive/Willowdale. There will be lots of people selling parking in their yards on the streets off of Willowdale. Be prepared to spend $25-50 cash. The bigger the game the earlier these fill up. If doing this option and have a 4 Wheel Drive, bring it. From this area after the game you can be on the interstate in 15 minutes!!!!!. Going past Willowdale you will be on the wrong side of the stadium and cannot get back to I-68. If you don't mind walking a little, get there really early and do a U-Turn at the Don Nehlen/Willowdale intersection and head back up 705. Parking along 705 is FREE!!! However you need to be facing up hill to exit quickly. Going through town or to I-79 Star City Exit post game will take you up to two hours in traffic. Visitors - Book your hotel the day the schedules are released. Hotels are at a premium and will sell out within a 60 mile radius very quickly particularly for the Oklahoma and Texas games. Many of the hotels will require a two day minimum and double their rates for game weekends. The bigger the game the harder the find. Game times are typically driven by TV contracts and are not announced until two weeks prior. Don't wait, book ASAP! read more
