If you're using Mountaineer Pest Services, I was strongly urge you to find another provider. They gladly charge $59/mo for service, but when I called to check, because I couldn't remember seeing a notice of a visit for a couple months, the receptionist acknowledged that they hadn't been out since Jan 30th, which was the first time since Helene at the end of last September. I left multiple messages for several days for the owner, Michael Pace, with no response. I found his cell phone in an online listing and he pretty much told me to "go f--- myself" and that he didn't care or have any reason to refund for not providing any service. I hate blasting small businesses, but this is basically theft at this point and the owner's response is to pretty much laugh in my face. If you are using them, please call and check to make sure you're actually getting the service you're paying for, but I would suggest moving along to someone who actually wants to do the work they're being paid to do. The sign saying "looking for good hearted people" is an absolute joke. He has my number. All I was asking for was a conversation from a reasonable human to discuss how to make this right and move along... but, here we are. read more

Technicians that show up will sometimes do the work.....but often will give an excuse why they can't do the work. We were skipped one quarter, asked to be refunded for that quarter and they are not willing to agree with that. Instead, the owner thought it best to terminate our relationship. Currently in the process of disputing money taken out of my account due to them terminating my contract when I moved even though we discussed my service moving with me. Then they charged me twice and can't tell me what they charged for, amount is over usual amounts. Then on top of that, I was told I would receive call backs..have not. Was told I would receive an email..have not and when I call them I get no answers and wait on hold for extended amounts of time to be told they will have to call me back..but don't! This company has no clue how to respect their customers. I needed a termite letter for closing after being with this company for 4 years. A week goes by and no letter. Realtor calls to see if she can get it. Girl tells her that it takes 3-5 days, which it has already been a week, so the girl tells her to call back at 430pm. Realtor calls back girl gone home sick, understandable, but still need a letter closing is in 2 days and you have already had a week. No one can do it so have to wait. Then they have the nerve to ask the realtor to recommend them to the new owner, are you serious??? When speaking to them they then told my realtor we owed $65 for the treatment the same week we asked for the termite letter. Now we don't live there any more and they did not call and tell us they were coming out to spray. Tech was awesome, ran into the future owner and explained everything to him. Put the bill in the flower pot on the front door where no one lives and expects us to find the bill, when we come back a week later to get the last stuff out before closing. Now if you would have called we would have paid immediately. Realtor got another pest control company to do termite inspection which is funny cause they were cheaper than getting the letter from them...Just do not do business with this company. Too bad too, because most of the techs are good people. Their representative stated that I could cancel services at any time. It turns out I was signing a one year contract. I specifically asked about a time-limit contracts, and he said that there were not any (again, he stated that I could "cancel at any time"). I just tried to cancel, and they stated that I have seven more months on my contract. I told her (Brandi) that I was specifically told that there was not a time contract. She did not care. I will be looking into this further (legal services) to see what I can do about their unethical business practices. read more

They left my gate open which allowed 2 stray dogs to come into my backyard and attack my cat. She was nearly killed and the vet bills for emergency care and surgery were astronomical. I have trying to get mountaineer pest services out to my home to treat for termites that was found directly after closing (even though the inspection letter stated that all was clear). They have felled to show up to 3 scheduled appointments over a period of 6 weeks or more. I do not recommend this company to provide any type of pest control services. WRB read more

I had them come out to the house to sprayed was not happy with the service and also they signed me up with a contract and never told me that I was signing a contract. 3 months later I get a collections notice that I have not paid for my monthly services that I never received. After 2 visits the bug problem was not even close to gone, they said it could take several more visits when I called to complain. I called another reputable company and they took care of the problem in one visit! And told me everything that mountaineer did wrong. When I asked for my money back I was told they were goin to charge me almost 400$ and that they would "destroy" my credit if I didn't pay!!! Read these reviews. THEY ARE THE TRUTH. Vague underwriting in the contract. They will stick you with bad service then make you pay a year for it ($980) Then send you to collections... My wife and I hired this company for pests on October 12th. The customer service rep led her to believe that the only option for service was through contract. (Which was false) When my wife heard this she asked about cancelation policy due to our family possibly making a move within 6 months. The rep reassured her she can break the contract at anytime. She then signed and setup services. They came out the same day. Two weeks later my wife called the company requesting someone to come service the house early due to unsatisfactory services. The representative kindly said she would send someone out free of charge. Due to that being their policy. When nobody showed up on the scheduled appointment. I called the company and the same rep that spoke with my wife a few days prior. Let me know it was going to be an additional $85 for someone to come out in between services.. (Voided the contract within the company) The next day my wife called to cancel services due to a voided contract. Talked with the manager and she informed my wife there is no breaking of the contract. That we are legally binded to it and the entire year of services will be sent to collections. My wife is 4 months pregnant with our first child and already has medical issues prior. So she did not handle it very well. I then called the manager and tried to resolve this issue. I work out of town and attempting to put a foundation together for my family. Due to Covid I had to accept an out of state job. I explained that to her and that money is very limited. However, all I have to offer was a $150 payment. (Which is what they would charge for a one time spray, considering that's all that was performed.) Which includes the $135 first initial that we paid upfront. She mentioned she would get back to me once she let her boss look at it. I did not hear from her the rest of the day. I called her back the next day and she said there was nothing that she could do. This company has less than satisfactory customer service, unprofessional performance and an unethical contract that is written then misrepresented to intentionally bind people with financial fallout. Mountaineer Pest Services never disclosed to me that they were having me sign a one year contractual agreement. The representative of their company gave me the price for the individual services and had me sign the receipt without ever verbally telling me that it was a contract or pointing out on the paper that I was signing some sort of contractual agreement. Their pest control services are of poor quality as well. We have had two applications thus far, one being recent, and the bugs are no better than they were when their company began service. I also paid for tick and flea control for the entire yard and my dog has had problems with both since the most recent treatment. I requested to cancel the service without penalty and informed the company we were a military family. The director/owner of the company refused the cancellation without penalty, told me that I could make a complaint if I wanted to and that "a contract was a contract." He also told me that my account was being sent to collections as of that same day, however I have never been late on any payment and my account was not delinquent to warrant his threat of collections or his threat to damage my credit. The company is threatening to damage my credit without justification and they have been deceitful in their business practices in having a customer sign a document without disclosing the contents of it. After attempting to cancel the contract, once in June 2017 and once in August 2017, two different employees gave different answers on where the contents of their so-called contract are located on the receipt they presented. One employee who is no longer employed by the company told me that the contract was on the back of the receipt and the other employee told me that it was on the bottom. After further inspection of the receipt, I see that the contract they had me sign was actually on the back which further supports my complaint of their underhanded business practices. The companies deceitful behaviors in order to obtain customers are highly unprofessional and fraudulent. I have reviewed the other customer complaints with the Better Business Bureau and each of these customers had problems with the rude behavior of the owner, poor customer service from other employees, as well as threats by the owner to send the customer accounts to collections. My situation has been no different than the others. It appears to be an ongoing pattern of behavior with this company deceiving their customers and using collections as a means to scam the customer for more money without having to actually complete any services. All consumers contemplating on doing business with Mountaineer Pest Services should think twice before doing business with them. Military and civilian consumers do not deserve to be treated in this manner. We work hard for our money as the consumer and when the consumer is treated poorly by a business such as Mountaineer or the customer receives subpar services, we have the right to say that such services did not meet our customer expectations without threats from the business to harm the customer. I would not recommend this business to any military or civilian consumers. Mountaineer should consider their business practices and how they treat their customers, because they would not be a company without their customers. CROOKS. Very unprofessional. Took advantage of my elderly parents that was using them for termite protection. Claiming to come and check bait monthly without ever checking. We removed the bait from several traps to see how long before they noticed. It was never disclosed over the phone that by agreeing to a one year service that there was a 1 year contract. After receiving 3 services we were supposed to move into our newly built home. The home burned to the ground the day we were supposed to move in so we needed to find another rental home. They told me I had to pay the $79 for the FINAL payment to finish out the 4 services. I told them our house burned down and we didn't need the final pest contraol application. They insisted the $79.00 HAD to be paid to finish the agreement. I had them service the new rental we had to quickly find, (despite pest control being part of the new rental) to finish the 4 services. I was under the impression that I had fulfilled my obligation. Then 6 months later, Mountaineer shows up and services my new rental without my asking for the service. When I called up to express that I had spoken to numerous people in the office about having fulfilled by year obligation and did not request the service, they said I was supposed to sign a written document cancelling service. No one ever told me that. When I said I was not going to pay for a service I did not give approval for she said she would sent the $79 bill to collections. She was extremely rude, unsympathetic, and not willing to find a solution. Run from this company! I recently moved to a home and the previous owners had services with Mountaineer Pest Services. A representative came to my house and tried to pressure me into signing a contract to continue the service, which I refused to do. Two months later, I receive a bill for $298. I called the Evans Office and told them I received a bill and I never had service. The man I spoke with told me they didn't send bills to people who don't have service, in a very condescending tone. He did look up the account and found the previous owners had the contract, not me. He told me that, if I didn't pay, they would come out and remove the traps. I told him I expected them to fill the holes and he refused saying that wasn't his responsibility. He said if someone got hurt by stepping into one of the holes it would be on my homeowners insurance. He then said "I hope the termites eat up your home" and hung up on me. Customer service, sales department, and the manager of the office is all apparently just one woman named Megan. I wouldn't doubt it if she was related to the actual owner, she does not care about proper customer service or losing her job. If you ask her to repeat herself or ask her why she cancelled your appointment without telling you about the changes, then she gets really rude and defensive. Attempting to contact the owner of the company, or even a manager, to resolve the problem is pointless because she refuses to transfer the call. When the pest control person first came out to the site, they damaged the property with their vehicle. Also, they used our water hose to clean up the bed of their truck for approximately 20 minutes because apparently water is free. The owner never contacted us in reference to the damaged property and what action would be taken to resolve the issue. We keep having to call them, and dear Megan does not like to press buttons and make things happen. The follow up appointment had to be rescheduled on their end, and Megan was supposed to call us to let us know when it had been rescheduled to. She never called, so we waited for the pest control person not knowing that it had been rescheduled. When we called her, she said "I don't know what you're talking about, I talk to 120 people every day". We can understand that, but it only takes a few clicks on the computer to pull up an account and see where the appointment had been rescheduled, then simply inform us why it was rescheduled and to what date/time. Current BBB complaint pending for horrible service and incredibly unprofessional staff. If I had checked the BBB first I would have seen that there have been similar complaints made to mine. Do not use this company they will not do their job and then turn around and blame you claiming you are not "educated" about bugs and that you are not doing "your job" as a homeowner. I have a very clean uncluttered home, I "acquired" these creatures from a new piece of furniture brought to my home. I was more than willing to pay to end the problem but have now been told to "take my business elsewhere" for filing a complaint. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! PAY A FEW EXTRA DOLLARS AND USE A REPUTABLE AND PROFESSIONAL COMPANY.
