When they started they barely could hold a pencil right never mind write letters. Since they have been there within a month they not only can hold a pencil right but write letters (and enjoy doing so)!! They love going to this school. They especially love the science lab (we do too) and the indoor playground/gym. Unlike their previous school, this school doesn't keep the kids outside when it's too cold (30 is the cutoff) and when it is too cold or rainy they still get to spend their energy in a warm setting in their indoor playground which is the equivalent of those indoor playgrounds with safe and fun climbing structures. Another positive about this school is that the directors And teachers listen when you have a concern and make Sure it's addressed. Oh and meals are included although I tend to send my twins in with extra food because they are going through a growth spurt and are picky eaters. While this school is double what we used to pay it's absolutely worth it. My kids have flourished there and it makes going to work easier. Thank you OFLC for a job well done!

One of the things that had initially drawn us to FCS (and what I believe makes them so special) is its amazing nature-based curriculum. We had sought out opportunities for education outside of the "traditional" classroom setting and FCS is exactly what we hoped it would be. The opportunities for children to learn through exploration, outdoor experiences, and have meaningful connections with nature, create a rich and engaging educational environment that is truly unique. After spending this past year amongst this community, it became apparent that we absolutely made the right decision for our daughter. The unwavering support, love, and kindness shown by the learning coaches and staff is something I imagine would be hard to find elsewhere. Every member of the community is deeply invested in the well-being and success of each child. They meet students where they are, recognizing and celebrating their individual strengths while providing thoughtful guidance and encouragement in areas where they need support. They also work continuously to foster relationships among the community (cross classroom learning, "Friendship Fridays", etc.); to help each child grow not only as learners, but also as compassionate and capable individuals. Our daughter has absolutely thrived at FCS this past year, both academically and socially. Her confidence, resilience and curiosity has flourished and that was in no small part to her being surrounded by people who truly care about her growth and happiness. We are endlessly grateful for this remarkable community and cannot recommend the Fitzgerald Community School enough, to any family seeking an educational environment where children are genuinely supported, challenged, and celebrated, each and every day. My husband and I were looking for a nature-based preschool for our son in Central Mass. A friend recommended Fitz and we fell in love with the program. The school has before care, after care, summer camp and holiday programs. It's our one-stop support system since we came from out of state. The property backs up to a nature reserve, and the kids spend hours outside learning and playing. The class ratios are small, and the different age levels interact with one another. My son loves having an older reading buddy and playing with older and younger kids. I love that my child is getting fresh air, sunshine, and learning through play. One of my favorite parts of the school is the support we got as parents. The owner of the school is an experienced child education consultant. She regularly hosts parenting classes and community events. My child is strong willed and stubborn, and the school taught me how to work with his personality so that everyone in our family is happy and harmonious. One of the core values of Fitz is preserving childhood. In this day and age of stress and sensory overload, I'm so glad there's a place my child can go where he gets to learn and just be a kid. Developing curiosity, relationships, and critical thinking are some of the positive traits we've watched our child develop at Fitz. The only "negative" I can think of is that once you experience this education model it's hard to go back. Once we learned that most of the public schools have 15 minutes outside per day, we re-enrolled for kindergarten. The school currently runs to grade 5. I'm so glad we found it.

Three separate times they called to say my son had a fever and I would pick him up and take him to the doctor and the doctor would tell me he didn't have a fever. When I brought my concerns to the school I was dismissed saying they have a state of the art thermometer and that it was accurate. Another time we picked him up and brought him home and changed him and found three ticks on him, one of which was attached to his foot. Again, I informed the school and they told me that they haven't had a tick on a child in years and that they treat the play area regularly. Why try to justify or defend yourself in this situation? He was at daycare all day and we came straight home and found the ticks. Where else could they have come from? All a parent wants to hear is that you understand the concern and you will address it. This place is more concerned with gaslighting you to protect themselves than actually taking concerns regarding the safety of children in their care seriously. Their illness policy makes absolutely no sense. My son was not allowed to come to school because he had an ear infection which is not contagious yet when I called to tell them he had pinkeye, they said he was fine to come in as long as he didn't rub his eye. He had just turned two at the time and there's no way a barely two year old isn't going to rub his eye. I was disgusted at the thought of children being allowed in a classroom together with something highly contagious like pinkeye. Also, my son was at the age to transition from day care to preschool and I reached out several times about the process for moving to preschool and for more information about the program. No one responded to my inquiries via email and I never saw administration there after 4pm when I came for pick up. One day while I was at work, out of the blue, I received a message via the school's app, which they typically used for communicating quick information like event reminders, saying that because my 2 year old son doesn't make eye contact and can't sit still during activities, they would not allow him to move to preschool or stay in his current day care program at Skribbles and told me his last day would be August 25th giving me little notice before he would be unenrolled leaving me scrambling to find a new childcare facility. This should have been an in person conversation, not an emotionally disruptive instant message in the middle of my work day. I also had an issue with a teacher who felt it was appropriate to make a comment about my son, who is autistic, saying: "It's too bad you didn't name him Dennis so we could call him Dennis the Menace." If you're not trained or equipped to support a child with special needs then maybe you should have a serious conversation about your concerns with the parents. I consistently communicated with the school about his developmental delays and how to best support him. Every day I would pick him up and his teachers would tell me he had a great day and how impressed they were with his progress. No concerns were ever expressed to me about their ability to handle my sons needs. There's so much more I could say about the terrible experience my family had with this place. At a certain point I just stopped bringing any concerns to the administration because I was constantly gaslit and it was clear they didn't want to take ownership of anything. We've found a much better environment elsewhere and now my son actually gets excited to go to school instead of crying every drop off like he did with Skribbles. After starting at his new school, I've meet a number of people who had less than pleasant things to say about Skribbles. This establishment needs to learn some empathy and compassion and needs a serious lesson is communication.

The majority of the staff that were there the day we joined the NGCC family are still there today, and that says everything. I was very impressed with the diverse curriculum and the attention they give each child. NGCC having an onsite kitchen and chef that prepares healthy, kid friendly meals for the students was a life saver for this working mom because I didn't have to spend the time packing up meals each night. Instead, I was able to spend that time with my family which was invaluable. Nashoba Montessori is a wonderful, bright, open and well set up learning environment- a perfect, safe setting with wonderful outdoor learning/play area. The fabulous teachers show attention to detail and professionalism in everyway, always with patience,love, respect and kindness. We really feel like we are part of the family there. Every day my little one continues to grow in confidence, independence and is always learning new skills. As I said I can not recommend this wonderful school enough! It felt like my directions as a parent were ignored. The turnover is out of control -- teachers come and go constantly because they are clearly underpaid and unsupported. The director changes so often that there is no leadership or accountability. The classrooms are dirty, the toys are old, and kids are always sick because the place is not properly cleaned. And if that wasn't enough, their billing practices are a complete disaster. Despite my child being on a voucher, they suddenly decided I owed them $4,000 because they didn't process payments correctly for months. Then they had the nerve to demand I pay it all at once, as if their incompetence was somehow my fault. At the end of the day, I pulled my daughter out because I could no longer trust them to keep her safe, clean, or cared for. I put her in an at-home daycare and the difference is night and day -- she is calmer, happier, and thriving. Guidepost Montessori in Marlborough is nothing more than a glorified, overpriced daycare that fails children and families. They are disorganized, careless, and completely unprofessional. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the stress, the money, and the heartache -- your child deserves so much better.

The Cottage…read morestood out to me due to their extended staff retention, friendly and patient teachers, community social events, and their offerings of additional activities (karate, swim, yoga, etc). After my first child was born (because you can never predict how it will go), I ended up pushing back my start date and changing it to part time for the first month. They were very accommodating, although I'm sure it was a scramble. They have lived up to everything that was reviewed back when I was interviewing. When I had my second child, I briefly considered hiring a nanny for early morning flexibility and not having to take time off due to child sick days, but I ended up enrolling her at the Cottage because I felt so comfortable with the infant teachers and the school. We remained at the Cottage into 2018 when we moved out of the area, but experienced safe, reliable, and friendly teachers and helpers from infant, toddler, to the 2's classroom. I wouldn't say it is perfect, but the director does her best to communicate changes and any concern I've had was quickly addressed by the teachers and never had to be escalated higher. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a center based childcare.
