We started using MountainStorm as our insurance broker in mid 2022 for car and home insurance. At first they were great, very attentive and we felt they were working hard to get us the best deal possible. But two years later that all changed. Our rates started to soar and we began to have a hard time getting ahold of someone or even getting a promised return call. We finally decided to stop doing business with them this year after we kept calling for over a month trying to get someone to shop around our policy due to huge increases in our premiums (we've never had an accident or filed a claim on our home). When they finally did get back to us the conversation felt very steered towards insurance companies that would benefit them and definitely not us (ie best commission for them) We went with another company that saved us over 3k on our policies and will be proactive in making sure we have the best rate and coverage each year without us having to call in and ask for it. I was referred to them by my realtor and find their lack of professionalism astonishing. I reached out to them July 2nd and it took 9 days (July 11th) to even respond to me about revisiting a quote for insurance. After the response, it then took them another 7 days (July 18th) to reply to me. Keep in mind that this is coming off of the original engagement in which I contacted mountain storm and didn't receive any follow up or quotes for over 3 weeks due to an employee termination. On top of all of this my realtor sends me an email where the owner Jeff finds it appropriate to personally attack a client prospect, ME: "He is so price sensitive because he wants the best coverage in the world for nothing. I've done all I can do for him. I fill in the gaps in his coverage and I tell him to go back to his agent to do this. He just keeps complaining about the price. My price is going to be higher because I'm not gonna sell a crapy policy." Let's be clear: 1) Your job is LITERALLY to find me like-or-better insurance coverage at a like-or-better price. My second request to you was an attempt to move business to you because my existing Allstate policy was going up $700. It has absolutely nothing to do with price sensitivity. 2) I have never ONCE complained about price, because in the entirety of our working relationship, it took nearly a month to even seen pricing information. 3) I'm not looking for the cheapest crappiest policy, that's why I reached out you professionals like you for your guidance. For your information, I reached out to another insurance broker and within 24 hours he (like you said originally) recommended that I stay with my existing policy even with the $700 price increase. I had been introduced to Jeff Douglas through my realtor and Jeff had helped me put together an insurance package for car and house. This was back in 2009. Over the years, I've added other cars and motorcycles. I've finally decided to split off with another agent as Jeff and his entire office have unfortunately dropped the ball with customer service. I'm not entirely sure what has happened but when I try and get a hold of Jeff or anyone else in his office I'll end up going a week or more without a response. Calling every day so I can add a new car I've purchased to my policy seems a bit excessive but even that doesn't get the job done. I've also found materially cheaper rates with other providers that Jeff doesn't carry. Mainly I'm disappointed by the unacceptable level of service. If I need to reach my agent once a year I don't think it's too much to ask to return a call. I'm even having a hard time right now getting someone to return my call so I can cancel my current policy. Years ago I had recommended Jeff and Mountain Storm to friends who were looking for insurance options. I've recently followed up with them as I've been having service issues. I was told similar stories about lack of service and followup. This reflects poorly on Mountain storm as well as myself. read more

I've worked with Jeff for years. Him and his team have been by my side as I've bought and sold cars, needed to change policies, and even when I bought my first home and needed a homeowners policy. He's always been an agent that I could count on until recently. I've finally decided to split off with another agent as Jeff and his entire office have unfortunately dropped the ball with customer service. I'm not entirely sure what has happened but when I try and get a hold of Jeff or anyone else in his office I'll end up going long periods of time without a response. My current policy is expiring and I wanted to look into changing policies so I reached out to Jeff and his team when I received my policy renewal notice in the mail and asked for his help. A week went by with no response so I reached out to them again to make sure they received my email and their only response was that they received it and would get back to me. Another 2 weeks went by without receiving anything so I reached out to them again to make sure they hadn't forgotten about me and I got the same response. Another week later, over a month after my initial request, I still hadn't received anything from Jeff or his team so I reached out to them again asking what information they had for me as my policy was only a few days away from expiration. Jeff's only response was that sticking with my current policy at the rate listed in my renewal notice was really my only option. While waiting for a response from Jeff and his team I had requested quotes from several insurance providers online directly through their websites and was able to find much cheaper rates. When I let Jeff know that I had found some less expensive quotes, he responded letting me know that he's appreciated my past business and referred me to another agent. They really dropped the ball on this one and chose to make the situation even worse, rather than taking responsibility for their shortcomings and working to improve and move forward on a positive note. I actually contacted the my current insurance carrier directly to discuss renewing my current policy, but separating from Jeff and his team, and they were so disappointed with how I have been treated by Jeff and his readiness to throw away my business that they offered me an even lower rate than I was quoted online so they could keep my business and not let Jeff tarnish their good name. Mainly I'm disappointed by the unacceptable level of service. If I need to reach my agent once or twice a year I don't think it's too much to ask to return a call or email. After separating my auto policy from Jeff and his team, I am now looking into separating my homeowners policy as well so I don't have to go through this again. I have several friends and family members who also have policies through Jeff, and after hearing about this ordeal they are all looking into changing agents as well due to his unacceptable level of communication and service. read more

Some of the friendliest insurance people you'll ever meet! Jeff Douglas is a personal friend of mine because of how he conducts himself and his business. He and his wife and his partners are all ultra professional with a very human and friendly side. When they quote you, they will give you a low quote, but they will also explain the value of sometimes A higher quote with greater use for you. They are not a lowball insurance shop, but rather a value-based insurance provider looking out for all of your interests and needs. They are at least worth the phone call at any given time as all they do is a great job day in and day out. If you're thinking about renewing your insurance or changing your station in some sort of way such as a home purchase or a new car, give them a call and talk to them about all of your options. We have had our homeowners insurance with Jeff Douglas for 6 years. We filed our first claim in September 2015, and the process was seamless.
