Morgan is an amazing photographer with an eye to take the most beautiful shots. He truly is as good as it gets - just check out his blog and you will see what I'm talking about. His laid back style and easy going personality just makes it so much easier to work with him. He is one creative photographer who always tries to come with original photos. Browsing through his work you will notice that he doesn't have those set poses that keep repeating photo after photo seen a lot with other photographers. In fact, every time I see his photos I feel that I'm re-discovering Morgan all over again. He did our engagement session (complimentary) as well as shooting our wedding last October and the result is simply amazing. We have had so many compliments on the photos, that even today a friend e-mailed me saying that the photos are so beautiful that she doesn't get tired of looking at them - now that's a compliment! From the get go, we didn't want to be posing for photos, we wanted our day to be described through the images as spontaneous as possible, and that's exactly what he delivered. We hired him for the full day (he will leave only when he feels everything has been covered even if it goes beyond 8, 9, 10 hours and believe me it does make a huge difference) with a second photographer, which I highly recommend, because it makes him free to completely focus on special moments/details. Besides, if there is a particular shot that he missed, the second photographer will cover it. For the quality of work he delivers, his prices are very reasonable without blowing out your budget. Morgan is a phenomenal photographer. He shot my wedding in February 2010 in San Francisco. Today I received the photos and it truly made my day, week...year! The photos are absolutely AMAZING. The way he manipulates lighting and colors is so unique and unlike any wedding shots I've seen. Being self-proclaimed foodies, we wanted to have our engagement photos revolve around our favorite thing in the world. That's how we found Morgan, because he does food photography too. We did an engagement shoot with him to test it out and as soon as we saw the photos we knew we wanted him to shoot our wedding. Best decision we made in the wedding process! His packages are super reasonable (Morgan - you should increase your prices!) and I know we will have these photos displayed in our home for years and years. Morgan is an absolute pleasure to work with, he recently shot our engagement photos out in Bodega Bay with and I couldn't be more pleased! We booked him to handle our wedding this fall, and I recently moved around my Bridal Shower to ensure he could be there to shoot that as well. Neither of us are entirely comfortable with sitting and "posing" so we mostly did candid shots, and Morgan has a great way of capturing the moment without interrupting it. I don't even know where to start with this review, but all I can say is when I looked Morgan up on Yelp, I wasn't the least bit surprised that he had 5 stars for all of his reviews, and here I am, still compelled to add another, because true talent, an excellent work ethic, and professionalism are hard to find these days in a photographer. I'll start with a little background info and should note that I didn't work with Morgan directly. He was the photographer for my sister's wedding, a mini-destination wedding with the ceremony held in an underground cavern. Yup, you read that right... an underground cavern, where the lighting alone would be a nightmare to most photographers, and a formidable challenge at the very least. My sister is very particular about photography, as she has a great eye for it as well, and I know she interviewed many photographers before she found Morgan. The first thing I noted about Morgan was his professionalism and easy going personality. He was a constant presence during our three day trip, so it's a lot to say that we (well, my family at least) felt comfortable with him from the beginning. He managed to take these beautiful pictures (more on that later), without being intrusive, and most notably he happily accommodated requests, and did it with a conscientiousness about his work that's rare to find. Morgan has a humble, easy going personality that makes it easy to feel comfortable around him... almost like having a friend along... and I never saw him once have an attitude or display signs of impatience. My sister is very particular about how she wants things, not in a bridezilla sort of way, and I know she chose to work with Morgan because he accommodated her requests and worked with her to fit what she wanted into the budget she needed. If this is your first time working with a photographer, I cannot emphasize how important it is to work with someone you feel comfortable with, who doesn't have an attitude about their work, and who is willing to accommodate your requests. The photos.... like one other reviewer said, go see for yourself... sorry to throw in this cliche, but a picture is truly worth a thousand words. I never thought that any photo could capture the ethereal beauty of the ceremony and setting, but Morgan did just that... and that was with the lights available down in the caverns. During group shots, Morgan didn't stop until he had the right picture. He adjusted arrangements, changed the lighting (as best as he could), took multiple pictures until he got the right shot. I have to note this because I don't know how many times I hear brides (including me) complaining that their photographers would rush through the group shots- people not looking at the camera, people missing, etc, bad arrangements, but Morgan took the time to take care of all the small details, for each and every group shot he took. Morgan captured the simple and significant moments of our trip with grace, professionalism and artistry... I tend to write these super long reviews when I feel strongly about something... but to sum it up, my sister said that the photos posted on his blog were only the tip of the iceberg and that there were hundreds more she thought were even more beautiful. What really stood out to me was his professionalism, work ethic and a noticeable absence of that divatographer attitude people who like to call professional photographers these days often have. My husband and I wish we knew of him when we had our wedding, but he was probably still in high school at that time. =) read more

Morgan was recommended to us by Olivia Smartt (who shot our wedding reception three weeks later, but was already booked for our ceremony date), and he was amazing to work with before, during, and after the big day. We met with Morgan a couple weeks before the ceremony at his studio in Uptown Oakland to chat about our expectations and get comfortable with one another, and he was great throughout that process. We got married in the morning at a friend's Victorian home in SF, with a crowd of 35 friends and family. Morgan arrived bright and early (8am!) to get set up and shoot us getting ready for our 10:30am ceremony. He did a fantastic job throughout the event of getting some staged shots but also staying out of the way for more candid opportunities. His laid back personality was really lovely and fit right in. He even rode to the airport on our shuttle bus and shot us as we walked into the airport to fly to New Orleans for our honeymoon. He's sent us about 50 selected shots from the day so far (more to come!), and we've been blown away with how beautiful they are and how well they capture how the day felt to us. I particularly love how the photos are composed (several feature some really gorgeous cropping), and lit. Initially when we planned our casual morning wedding, we were uncertain what level of photography we wanted for our events. We are SO HAPPY that we had Morgan photograph our ceremony. I used Morgan for my January 2011 wedding in Cave Creek, Arizona, and i could not be more excited with the results. Morgan has such a great eye for composition, lighting and "the right moment", he is truly spectacular. I basically told him to do his thing, and he captured every moment, beautifully, timelessly. He got the detail shots, so many candid shots, and all the beautiful portrait shots. Corralling 30+ people into a group picture is a tough feat, and he not only managed to do that, but made it fun for everyone involved. Morgan is not only easy and a pleasure to work with, but his finished product exceeded my expectations.
