His experience and knowledge result in highly effective workouts and I feel like every session I have with him is a well-made investment in my health & well being. I've worked in the fitness industry for the past 25 years, and have observed and trained with a lot of fitness professionals around the country, I rank Bob in the top tier of personal trainers I've encountered. In addition to his wealth of knowledge and years of experience, he is very personable and sincerely cares about his clients. I started training with him in January (after a hiatus of several years due to personal reasons) I'm so glad I finally decided to stop wasting time and money on facilities and programs that didn't lead to results, and return to what I know works-Bob Alessi Personal Training. Since January I have lost over 20 pounds, and several inches. His facility is spacious and well equipped with top of the line strength and cardio equipment. I feel very lucky to have access to a trainer of Bob's caliber in Buffalo. If you're looking for fitness, wellness, weight loss, muscle gain, and a better overall life in general, Bob is the person who can help you get there.

Body & Soul Transformations - 25 pounds lost in 6 weeks

Full disclosure, I joined this group of studios. I tried them last year and found it too pricy…read more But then as I went around to other places in town, I just kept thinking about this workout format and the way I felt after doing some of the workouts. I did a trial run earlier this summer, and just bit the bullet and joined after that. As a result, Ive been to this studio a number of times recently, I found tis location to be perfect some days. Its much smaller than the Tonawanda location, which is good and bad. Good because there are fewer people in each class, bad because its often full for each class. Ive never been here with more than one instructor, and at Tonawanda's there is almost always 2, if not three but I imagine that has to do with size of class. The format is this - They create 6 workouts (Mon-Sat) which they then do for 4 weeks. Each workout is designed to hit different areas of the body, and some days have more weight and less cardio than others, they mix it up. Each class starts with the same tape to get everyone stretched out and ready for the next 50 min. Then there is a short cardio burst to get the blood flowing, and a longer section with some burpees or squats or whatever they think of. Then you pay attention while the instructor shows you what each exercise of the day is. By week four those demos don't take quite as long, but they still cover them all each day, and show you the various different levels for each exercise. Well trained group of instructors. Then the class starts, usually that portion is between 22-25 min. as you go from exercise to exercise. There may be some sort of 3 min end exercise, they often involve squats Ive found. Then the same cool down tape plays and everyone does that. Class ends as the instructor brings everyone into the middle for a "tip of the day". Sometimes those are super interesting, other times they are so-so. I don't think those are spelled out from corporate, I think they make them up themselves, which could explain why some are better than others. They have improved their website experience by joining mindbody, so that's nice. There is another location coming in Cheektowaga this fall. I look forward to checking that out too. This place is the home of the "6 weeks 20 lbs" challenge, and you'll have challengers in most classes. I cannot stress enough how much support these people get from the instructors and members in their goals. Most hit the goals if they show up to class and follow the diet plan. If you want to come try a class, PM me and Ill see if I can help make that happen.

I used to think a personal trainer was only for Oprah or some other fancy tv personality who could…read moreafford to hand out cars to everyone in the studio audience. But as it turns out, that's not the case! (Or I'm fancier than I realized.) Believe it or not, it's affordable to have a personal trainer. I used to make a monthly donation to a gym just like you probably do. (Be honest; how many times have you gone to the gym since joining?) If you consider that I was paying $40 a month for the length of a two-year contract, and I went a total of three times, those were some seriously expensive gym sessions. Look at it that way, and personal training is VERY affordable. Truthfully, Warren charges what I consider to be a very fair price for what I'm getting: a true professional who has put together a personalized routine according to my abilities and goals. What's more, at the very beginning, he weighed me, took measurements, figured my body fat, and had me answer a bunch of questions about my history and what I was hoping to see in regards to gains. (Ha! I've always wanted to talk about #gains. I'm going to see if I can also work in the words "pre-workout," "swoll," and "#gymming" into this review.) I'm probably not the easiest client. I had spinal fusion surgery a few years ago, and I'm not as flexible as I used to be. I was in a car accident about 18 months ago, and I've had some neck issues from that. And I've got bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome, and I'm no longer able to grip weights. Still, Warren has found ways to modify my workouts so that I do not have to focus on what I CANNOT DO. Instead, he has shown me what I can do, and he is there every step of the way. That means setting up the workout, showing me the proper form, counting my reps, and putting things back when we're all done. After I've been working out and I'm all swoll, it's hard to put all that stuff back where it goes. It's way easier to let him do it than for me to try to do that at home. In our last session, I got a little dizzy before I could complete my last set of battle ropes (isn't that just the coolest thing? Battle ropes! Like in PE when we were kids!). I told Warren I was starting to get dizzy, so we stopped and talked about what could have caused it. We were safe to keep an eye on my heart rate the whole time, and we decided, in the end, it may have been that I am still new to the diet I'm following, and I probably could have used some MCT oil or pre-workout. When you hire Warren, you get a guy who has been where you are. He knows how difficult it can be to go from the couch to the gym, but he's there to help you with it every step of the way, building your confidence, helping you achieve things you never thought possible, and making you so sore that you cuss his name the next day. Actually, I've been cursing his name for two days this time, but I'll be back to #gymming again tomorrow. If you're not sure whether you're ready to hire a trainer, check him out on Instagram or Facebook. He's got some great advice when it comes to nutrition and working out. And, if your schedule doesn't allow for you to go to the gym and work out the traditional way, Warren offers some personal training a la "the Modern Age," online.

This time, my fiancé found Pro Muscle Lifting Club on Instagram and reached out, and from the very start, the owners (or account manager) were incredibly communicative and welcoming. The gym is in Buffalo, about a 15-20 minute drive from Lewiston, but it's absolutely worth it. The equipment is some of the best we've ever seen--seriously impressive--and they even have dumbbells that go up to 150 lbs. they also have cardio machines. We were there during Thanksgiving week and wanted to workout on Thanksgiving Day. To our surprise, they responded to our Instagram message promptly to let us know they'd be open! Meeting them in person only made us more impressed. We liked it so much we upgraded our day passes to a weekly pass, even though we were only going to be there three days. The gym itself is spacious, well-organized, clean, and free of clutter. They have a few machines and attachments we'd never seen before, which made for exciting and challenging workouts that left us both sore in the best way. There was no crowding at all--maybe 20-25 people when we were there--which made for a comfortable and focused workout environment. For bodybuilders, this gym is a dream--there's even a posing room! On top of that, the owners suggested a really tasty and healthy lunch option that we truly enjoyed. This gym has officially become our New York "gym home," and we can't wait to visit again. Highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for a top-notch workout experience!

When I entered I was greeted by the EMW front desk staff and directed back to the Pilates room. The room itself is quite beautiful and well appointed. There is some Pilates equipment (forgive me that I don't know the name of all of it), but the course that I was taking focused on mat work. There are plenty of mats available if you don't have one. Larry was our instructor and he was outstanding. He walked the class through a series of warm ups and then the Pilates exercises. Larry was clearly an expert in anatomy and physiology, which really impressed me. He walked us through each exercise and made sure that we were all attending to proper form. Since the class was small, Larry was able to give lots of individual attention (which I loved). After class was over, he checked in with me to ensure that everything went well and that I felt comfortable in the class. I even forgot my water bottle after class and he ran it out to me in the parking lot. Overall, I would recommend the Pilates loft if you are looking to get friendly and personal Pilates instruction in a location where you could also get your yoga on. The workout wasn't as intense as I generally like, but keep in mind tha this was only my second Pilates class and I'm sure that with time it can be intensified.

I feel like I actually understand what I am doing when I'm in class here. Wonderful open loft/factory style space with large windows. Max I've seen in class here is four people, so you can really get the customized attention you might want. Parking is a bit of a pickle, as the spaces are two deep and you may get blocked in by someone at a longer yoga session. So just be aware when parking. If you know you have to leave in a hurry you can let the front desk know and they'll stick a cone behind your car.
