I reached out to Move Wysely to set up personal training sessions as a completely blind client…read more From the beginning, I communicated clearly, shared my previous positive experiences with trainers, and explained the simple adaptations that would make training successful. At first, Emily seemed open to working together, and I spent several days making arrangements, including coordinating orientation & mobility training so I could learn the best walking route to the gym. However, after I provided additional information to help her feel more confident, she abruptly backed out, saying she didn't feel comfortable training me -- despite my reassurances and past history of success in fitness environments. I'm posting this so that others with disabilities are aware that Move Wysely may not be prepared or willing to work with clients requiring any level of adaptation. If you are blind or otherwise require a trainer who is flexible and willing to learn, you may want to consider other options. I was disappointed by how this was handled, especially after not only putting in significant time and effort myself, but also involving my O&M instructor, who researched routes and adjusted her schedule to help me prepare. I hope Move Wysely takes this experience seriously and better prepares in the future to serve all potential clients.

Emily is hands-down the best trainer I've ever worked with. She takes a holistic approach that…read moremakes every session feel personalized to my goals, lifestyle, and even my mood that day. She's quick to adapt if I'm dealing with an injury, always coaches with compassion, and brings such a positive, infectious energy to every workout. Honestly, it sometimes feels like she cares more about my health than my doctor does! If you're looking for someone who truly listens, supports, and empowers you--Emily is it.

Members are issued a fob to use to enter the facility. The front desk person almost always greets us. There are plenty of machines, and many treadmills and stationary bikes - seldom out of order. Spray containers of disinfectant and loads of white wash clothes abound for members to wipe down equipment. I feel obliged to note that I was duly unimpressed by the group fitness class I attended. On my first visit, the instructor was curt and unwelcoming, barking at me that I wouldn't like the class, in front of the class. She never met me. Knew nothing about my abilities nor interest. The classmates were kind and told me I'd get "used to her". Ah. No. No. No; wrong on so many levels. Especially when a newbie comes to class, who might be self conscious or introverted or scared to attend an exercise class. People will never forget how you made them feel. (Said Maya Angelou) It is a joy to see people of all ages and abilities using the machines. I've seen elders on the bikes and tweens on the treadmills. Wee ones stroll by from the daycare area to play in their own area apart from the adults. There are large tvs and music is also piped in. It feels like a completely non-judgmental environment, and aside from the group class encounter, it's my kind of place.

There's also great amenities such as a cardio theatre, smoothie bar, and hydro-massage chairs to name a few. I only come to this location for classes and the hydro-massage chairs, so I can't comment too much on anything else. However the class instructors are extremely professional while fun, and will lead you through a great workout! That hydro-massage chairs are a great perk to membership and great way to relax for 10 minutes before heading out. I'm impressed with the safety measures they've implemented since COVID. On each visit they take temperatures upon entry and ask if you're experiencing any COVID symptoms. I've also seen employees cleaning the locker rooms more frequently than before. Additionally, they added lines to the floor in the class rooms to reduce capacity, and I personally love the extra space. I'd recommend this location if you enjoy taking classes, they offer a good variety at different times of the day.

I went for a gym tour about 3 weeks ago to figure out whether I was going to switch. The representative told me that for an additional $10 per month, I could switch to the ultimate membership but I would need to commit to that for a year. I was and am fine with that. So I switched and went to the gym today, eager to get going. Now for the switch. Mia says that an additional $10 per month (plus the $ I pay to active and fit) will only get me fitness classes - and none of the recovery amenities, etc. She made no attempt to discover how the miscommunication happened or what could be done about it. For context, it was completely reasonable to believe that they were up front with me initially because the difference in price between the normal membership and the ultimate is only $10 per month. It is a shame that this gym management is so poor. It seemed to me to be a gym I could see myself working out in regularly.

I am amazed at the value that you receive at the Maple Rd. location. You get a huge selection of all sorts of aerobic and anaerobic equipment, and for a small upgrade in your membership you also receive: message chairs/beds, hot and cold therapy, tanning and other perks. I recently went in for a workout to find additional equipment being installed which impressed me because facilities are making due with older, broken down equipment while PF is upgrading theirs. I am writing this review as someone who is not easily impressed but also as someone who is very fair when it comes comes to both negative and positive reviewing. When I see a corporation upgrading their product while holding steady on their pricing (unlike ALL streaming services) I felt the need to put it out there.

They have really high ceilings and the place is pretty well ventilated. There are also mirrors set up all along one side of the wall as well. The restroom/washrooms here are decently clean, but I did see some stalls that needed immediate attention in the women's restroom. :( The staff here is super nice and friendly too, which made the visit more positive. The only down side about the place was they didn't really have enough "free space" to put down a yoga mat and stretch or anything. Other than that, was good. :)
