I was originally referred to PT West by a family friend when I was looking for a new clinic. It is always great to have a personal referrence. Lucky for me, the location is very close to where I live, and I'm so glad that I found it. The first time that I was a patient, I had been given a particular diagnosis after an MRI. I was dealing with bad pain and came to PT West for several weeks without much improvement. I was doing everything that I was told to do, but there was no improvement. Well, my great physical therapist thought that maybe my diagnosis wasn't the cause of the issue after working with me, and it was suggested getting a second opinion. Well...I did that and it ended up leading me down the correct path that was needed! After two surgeries, I have been coming to PT West for PT, and everyone at the clinic is great! I love everyone at the front desk...they are super helpful and kind. Big shout outs to Abby and Darlene! My amazing therapist is Jiggs, and he is someone that I have gotten to know well over the years. He is a top-notch professional and I trust him implicitly. Parking is validated in a covered parking structure. So many healthcare providers no longer provide parking, so this perk is one that I love. On this particular day, I was introduced to a physical therapist named Alex, a first-time interaction, who said he would be applying heating patches as part of my treatment. I consented to that procedure. What followed was not that. Without warning or consent, Alex reached beneath my clothing, stretched my underwear away from my body, and inserted his fingers into my backside. I was in shock. I froze. And like so many women who have been conditioned to stay quiet, to not cause a scene, to not make things uncomfortable for the people who harm them, I walked out of that clinic in silence. That silence ends here. I called the clinic days later and spoke with the manager, Beatrice. She offered an apology that felt cold and dismissive. She then requested that I come in for a face-to-face meeting with Alex present. As a survivor of sexual violence who has spent years healing from the shame and guilt that was placed on me by others, I could not subject myself to that. That request alone speaks volumes about how this situation was handled. I am a rape survivor. I know what it costs to speak. I am speaking anyway. I am filing a formal complaint with the California Physical Therapy Board and working with my family's attorney. Alex should be held accountable. And anyone within this organization who chose to protect him over the patient he violated should be equally ashamed. No more hushing.

My second treatment regimen at Ho Rehab Center was just as successful as my first!!…read moreMy first experience was about 2 years ago for spinal stenosis. 20 sessions of some intense therapy combining heat, ultrasound and muscle strengthening around my upper body brought total and continuing relief from the tingling and numbness in my left arm. I'm asymptomatic. Recently, hip pain was diagnosed with a decrease in joint space and arthritis and instead of expecting suggestions of hip replacement surgery the doctor suggested physical therapy. It took 30 visits to relieve the arthritic pain in my right hip. Again, combinations of heat, ultrasound and very directed exercises to strengthen surrounding support muscles. Everyone in the office is professional and caring. Dr. Der-How Huang leads a team of highly skilled therapists who seem to work so well together. I rang the discharge bell as I left today!

For context I'm in PT for foot pain from plantar fasciitis combined with an ankle ligament tear. Before my podiatrist even diagnosed the ankle ligament tear correctly, Doctor E could see ankle stability and hip strength issues contributing to my walking issues. So he had me on the right PT regiment based on his own expertise and the time and care he put into my assessment. His thorough assessment from our first appointment taught me how to incorporate best practices into my day to day life. Our weekly sessions are what finally helped me feel like I'm getting better, feeling less pain, and getting stronger.
