Let me tell you this place is the best if you actually want to feel better. A bit of back story. I am a veteran who was referred here by veteran affairs. My previous job as a firefighter/emt in the service, beat me up bad. This was my 3rd or 4th experience with a physical therapist for my shoulder issue. I was extremely extremely skeptical because I had seen so many before and I felt they didn't help me much if at all. Well I was wrong, Johna is AMAZING, 3 years of bouncing from PT to PT with the same issue only to go to her and after 2 sessions. Yes.Just 2! I have immediate declining pain & such a better understanding of my issue. I feel like my past PTs were good and they gave good advice but Johna and her team added that extra step my body really needed. I don't often write reviews but when I do it's because I have something really special to say! I called progressive PT in tears due to my low back pain needing to establish care asap! The first available appointment was weeks away. I spoke to Johanna (spelling?) who was so nice and lovely to talk with. Despite their completely booked schedule she took the time to figure out how to squeeze me in and she did! That's when met Megan! She is so knowledgeable, professional, and kind! She had some ideas where my back pain was stemming from, made up a plan for me and recommendations, about 2 months later I feel soooo much better! No more tears! If you are reading this, I am sorry as you clearly are shopping for help with a physical problem. But good news. You may have found your solution. I did! Progressive Physical Therapy in Tarzana has been the solution to my issues...and I have many. A quick story, I had spine surgery in August of 2018. A UCLA surgeon at a UCLA facility. Needless to say, it went bad, and I have suffered, greatly, for far too long. The folks at UCLA just couldn't figure out what to do with me. Bill Carey at Progressive Physical Therapy took me under his wing and several months into my care he asked me if I had a recent X-Ray of my left hip, the left side is where most of my pain was focused. I looked at him with puzzlement and asked, "Why would we care about my hip? My back is the issue?" Bill patiently explained the correlation between my hip, my back, and pain. I followed through and the X-Ray of my left hip showed serious degeneration with bone-on-bone ball and socket. Ouch! Bill patiently explained the issue and suggested that I pursue a hip replacement which happened in late December of 2022. Bill also informed me that while a "new hip" would be immensely helpful it wouldn't necessarily help with all of the pain. I still go to Progressive PT to gain greater mobility, increase my strength, and learn how to best navigate the world. And my pain level has diminished significantly. I share this story to illustrate just how proactive and creative Bill and the folks at Progressive are in treating their clients. They are the BEST!! I started coming here for PT only 2 weeks ago after a bad experience somewhere else. My friend did PT here and said they were good so I gave it a shot. I've been working with Miral Bhakta and she is so amazing. In the 2 weeks I've been coming to progressive physical therapy I've felt better than I ever did in the 2 months I was at another office. The staff is attentive and kind and genuinely cares about your recovery. The front desk staff, PT aids, and therapists are all amazing. First Johnna is so dedicated from her vast experience and expertise to customize your personal therapy, while all the time Johnna makes the session almost a pleasant joy to be there. I started going to Progressive about a year ago for back issues. The treatment has completely changed my quality of life! I primarily work with Megan who is fantastic. I was in a car accident in February as well as being a Dwarf. Cameron did my initial evaluation and I was in so much pain he handled me like fine china. Then I was assigned to Johna as my Physical Therapist and her assistance Ashley and Andrea. Johna developed a special program for me to work with my dwarfism. She also instructed her very patient and kind assistants Ashley and Andrea. Each visit they were concerned with my progress inside and out. I want to start by saying I am incredibly picky when it comes to healthcare. I only have one body and after surgery I took my time and tested out multiple physical therapy places before I settled here. This place is AMAZING! First of all here's a staff that actually knows what they're doing. Jason is incredible my knee has never felt better and he was so kind and understanding after my surgery. He helped alleviate my fears of walking and putting weight on my knee. The girls Andrea and Ashley are always on top of it helping out making me laugh even when the exercises are suck. Patrick at the front desk is incredibly friendly and so nice he even make a Christmas bow tie for my little cousin. Honestly I wouldn't go anywhere else. I had a very good experience at Progressive's Tarzana location. This is my second time using their services. I just finished 8 weeks of treatment for my right shoulder. The care I received from therapist Johna and assistant Ashley was excellent. I began with numbness and pain all through my shoulder, elbow and arm and am now mostly pain free. I have worked with several of the therapists and aides following surgery for a dislocated shoulder in July and to a person have received exceptional, focused care throughout my rehab. I have primarily worked with DPT Megan and Aide Kaci and they are my go to faves, but I have also worked with DPT's Johna and Bill, and Aide Alex and they are as skilled and talented and I trust their care and expertise. Progressive Physical Therapy is probably the most caring, skilled, and and truly progressive physical therapy office I've ever been to. Johnna and Megan, along with Hiek, and the rest of the staff have truly gotten me back in shape. Honestly, everyone that works there is exceptional. I have a recurring knee injury and started out in January with Johnna. I was planning a trip in March. Not only did she help strengthen my knee, but also helped me figure out what shoes I needed for cobblestones and hiking all over Europe. I did 22,000 steps almost daily! Switching to Megan after my trip and with Johnna's continued support I have strengthened my knee and am ready to do more strenuous activities at the gym. I appreciate their humor and kindness. The PT was okay, except that most of it is done in a big room with other people. The problem was that after my first appointment they only had a follow up appointment that was 6 weeks away. The front desk said they would find another appointment for me and would call. They never did. Why go to a place that does not want your business. I had hip repair surgery back in May of this year and have been going to Progressive PT in Tarzana for about 2 months. I have gone here a few different times in the past for a few different things and have always had a good experience with everyone that works there. That's why I go back when needed! This time, I started out with Ruth who was so caring and worked very well with me, emotionally and physically. I cried the first day because I had very little strength and had no idea how weak I was. She was great and helped me through it, which I really appreciated it! I am now seeing Brian, who has been absolutely wonderful and hasn't let me get away with anything. When I'm tired and try to get out of things, he doesn't let me. He pushes me (in a good way) and he works pressure points which has really been helping my pain! He is very knowledgeable, and answers all of my questions in detail (as I tend to ask a lot). He motivates me! Cindi, at the front desk, has been so patient and kind in scheduling my appointments as I tend to switch around a lot. Julie, one of the assistants, has been encouraging me to push myself and she always says "you can do it"....even when I don't think I can. I have progressed quite a bit since I first started with them and the pain has decreased tremendously! My doctor says I'm doing great in my recovery and when told that I went to Progressive Physical Therapy, he stated, they are very good (and I agree)! I enjoy everyone in there and EVERY time I go they all have great attitudes (positive, encouraging, and friendly). I thank them all for helping in my recovery! I have to unfortunately go here because they are affiliated with my insurance. If I had it my way, I wouldn't step foot in here. First of all, the physical therapists spend maybe 4-5 minutes with you. The rest of the hour, they have an "aid" do exercises with you. Sometimes this aid doesn't even know how to do them correctly! It's a total waste of time. They pack as many appointments as they can since the aids do most of the work. I can do everything they teach me to do at home... Really no need to go in. The 4-5 minutes the physical therapist does spend with you is somewhat helpful. The rest of the hour is a bunch of wasted time and energy. read more

All in all, a very disappointing experience. Tons of miscommunications over billing and how much I'd be charged. Some of their staff do not know how to treat problems effectively. My advice, if you have a limb injury (dislocated shoulder, knee, broken ankle, whatever) is to go online, especially to Youtube, and learn how to do the exercises on your own at home. My orthopedic doc referred me to this clinic - this was not my first PT experience, so I knew what to expect. But all in all it was just a bummer. Not recommended. Maybe they're better for more severe problems, like if you were in a 5-car pile-up, broke both legs and all your ribs and an arm or something and were learning how to walk all over again. But make sure they outline how much they're gonna charge you (above what your insurance is paying them) or else they may do to you what they did to me, and spring me with the bill months later and then claimed "we thought we did tell you that"...yeah you thought wrong! BTW, scheduling appointments here was very difficult. They're packed with patients so it was very hard to get in. Seriously try another PT clinic. read more

I've been seen here with Brian for a disc compression between c4-5-6. I'd been in quite a bit of pain, and in an attempt to avoid pain medications and surgery I gave physical therapy a shot. I can't say that it helped improve the pain in a significant way but it's nice to have some ultrasound massage and the electric pulse pads massaging the back while your there. Besides that it really did nothing for me. It didn't help that even tho I was trying to be consistent with my appointments the staff was 90% of the time unable to get me in. Availability here at this facility is pretty much impossible. Not sure if I was able to get in regularly it would have helped with my symptoms. read more

It was just about a year ago, that I was introduced to Progressive PT. I had a double knee replacement and needed to find a place that was up to the task of helping me walk and regain full functionality again. This was the right place. I worked closely with Colleen and she was absolutely fantastic. She was not only very good at her job, she was also just a joy to be around. She was detailed, patient, encouraging and positive. I also had a great experience working with the aides who assisted, they were very good to work with, all very competent and sweet. I spent most of 2016 going to Progressive 2-3 times per week, first to complete PT then I continued my therapy by working out with Ron. I thought it was quite "progressive" of this place to offer the services of a highly qualified personal trainer, but they are lucky to have found someone like Ron. We signed up for about 12 weeks worth of sessions, which I highly recommend. Ron worked with us to customize a workout that combined routines with weights, bands and the balance ball. He was also very competent, encouraging and ensuring we had the right form. For me, he worked around my knee limitations until I had built up the proper strength again. I rarely give 5 star reviews. I'm truly grateful to have found this place. The staff made a very daunting task of recovering from a double knee replacement into a very positive experience for me, thank you all very much. read more
