We used Lloyd's for a local move to a larger house. Having never used professional movers before, we weren't certain what to expect, but the process went well. The movers were all friendly and introduced themselves to us, which helped us feel safe, especially with our kids around. They worked quickly, padded everything well, and worked to get our things into our new home where we wanted them, despite some challenging home angles to work around. Moving is a stressful event, but Lloyd's Transfer & Storage helped ease some of the burden. We'd like to thank Richard W., Aaron G., Trent R., Jeremy, Hunter F., and Tia A. for all their hard work. Should be a zero. Contacted them to move my furniture via Yelp. Agreed upon a rate - they never sent a confirmation email or attempted to honor their rate after I called twice. Update: The manager immediately jumped on this review. I'm going to expand on it more: Got bids from 4 moving companies for a bedroom set, couch and up to 10 boxes (boxes were 1-10 on the Yelp form). This place was $125-$175 cheaper than everyone else. That equates to ~30% off of the others. I made the deal via Yelp 10/7 for a 11/3 move. No rate sheet sent. Double checked the messages, gave the correct phone/email address. Reached out via Yelp 10/8 - no response. Hounded this company the following week with multiple calls to hear "I'll send it when I get back to the office". Nothing. Kept checking my inbox & spam - nothing. Booked my move with another company and got moved. To me, sounds like this place underbid and bailed on a potential customer. read more

Outstanding experience with Lloyds. They did what they said they would do, they charged what they said they would charge, and they showed up when they said they would show up. We hired them to handle our move from Shepherdstown WV to Houston TX, and to store our belongings for 6 months while our home in Texas was complete. Everything showed up in perfect shape and everyone we dealt with on both ends of the move was extremely professional and nice. These guys did a great job moving me from Reston, VA to the West Virginia panhandle. They showed up right on schedule, quickly and efficiently packed everything and moved my belongings with care. Excellent experience. Found Lloyds from a friend who recommended their services for our restaurant's new furniture delivery and installation. Their estimate was lower than other's I'd received and I was impressed at how quickly they were going to be able to deliver. The estimate was correct and the service was impeccable. Ruben and his crew arrived on time (5am because we needed the job completed by opening at 11am) and worked continuously and carefully with our heavy wooden pieces. My husband and I moved in October and hired Lloyd's to transfer and storage to pack and store our belongings. It was a difficult situation - we had to move everything out so the new owner of our townhome could start showing our old place to renters, but we also had not closed on our new home yet. Lloyd's sent 4-5 movers on 2 trips. First they supplied the boxes and blankets. We packed everything. The movers arrived as scheduled and moved everything out. They were very friendly and professional, moving all the boxes and select furniture in a timely manner. Everything was taken to their storage center after a detailed inventory was created. Immediately before we moved out, Lloyd's returned to do a final move, taking the bed and remaining items to store. When we finally closed on our new home, Lloyd's returned with everything stored and moved all the items into our new home. The movers were very considerate of the new carpeting (which is cream white) and placed everything where wanted it. Everything that was inventoried and stored arrived in the same condition as which it had left our old home. We had a ton of unopened packages from our wedding, dark wood furniture, frames, etc. and nothing was scratched, damaged, or missing. I would not hesitate to use Lloyd's again for another move. They helped us transition smoothly into our new home. Their price for moving is also very reasonable, well worth it. What they did in a couple of hours would have taken us and our friends days. read more

Lloyd's Transfer and Storage is associated of North American Van Lines. Lloyd's moved us from Arlington, VA to Winchester, VA in March 2015. The movers arrived with 2 trucks and a crew of 6. They picked up all of our household furnishings and boxes on one day, put the trucks in locked storage overnight, then delivered everything the next day. The crew (and us) were fresh for the delivery. The sales manager, office manager, and moving crew all provided expert service. The moving team was experienced, on time, courteous, and professional. All of our items were inventoried, loaded and unloaded with the greatest of care, and nothing was damaged or missing. One challenge was moving a full upright piano, which had to go around a narrow corner and down steps - all done with precision, focus, and careful attention. Protective coverings were placed on the floors of our "old" and "new" homes. The moving crew placed each piece of furniture in the requested places at the new home. For a few large pieces of furniture, I reconsidered the placement, and the good natured crew moved the items a few inches to the left or right as directed. When needed, they disassembled and reassembled furniture with ease. Could not have asked for a better moving experience. Highly recommend Lloyd's Transfer and Storage. read more

I hired Lloyd's transfer for a cross-country move. Initially I was very pleased. The walk-through went smooth and I felt the quoted price was fair. The gentleman that loaded my belongings into the truck were on time and pleasant. I was told my belongings would begin the journey the following Monday. I was given an approximate 10 day time line to receive my things. It is now the following Thursday and my belongings are still sitting I'm storage and have to left yet. I found this out by contacting the company. They cannot give me an ETA until the truck has been loaded, and I do not know when that will be. Looks like I'll be lucky if I see my belongings within 3 weeks. I am now in a new city with nothing and unable to start my new job. I am very disappointed. I will update this review as things progress. Hopefully they don't read this and chuck all my things in a lake. UPDATE: I got my shipment within the scheduled timeline. The actual movers who unloaded my things were on time and very nice. They did an excellent job. I noticed a day later that a box containing DVDs was missing :( I feel lucky to have my things (17 day total process) Overall, communication could have been better. I felt like I was always chasing people down for info. All the workers I dealt with were pleasant and efficient. read more

The guys at Lloyd's - Ruben, Gerald and their crew - did a great job arranging for my move and making it happen. I had a few last minute changes and they adjusted no problem. All my important stuff made it. I only lost a bulletin board (big deal). Nothing broken. The delivery driver made sure we were on the same schedule and delivered on time. These guys are great. I would give them 5 stars, but my last minute changes caused some accounting problems. Ruben got on top of the accounting and we are square now. We very recently selected Lloyd's for our local move within Loudoun County. The sales rep who came to our house was very pleasant and professional, and he answered all of our questions completely and honestly. The estimate was very reasonable and ultimately accurate. Indeed, because we were only moving approximately 10 miles, we were able to move many of our small and loose items ourselves and saved some money off the estimate. The crew that arrived on moving day was excellent. They were all friendly, professional, pleasant, and polite. They were very careful with our furniture and placed things exactly where we asked in the new home. They disassembled and reassembled furniture as needed and without difficulty, and they were fast! I called a number of moving companies for estimates on moving my items from my home, which was for sale,to a storage unit not far from my home. Ruben came to do the estimate, and immediately made me feel comfortable. The price was firm and unless I changed the scope of the job, the price would not change which was not the case with other estimates I received. On moving day, Jason, Heath, and Richie arrived, promptly did a walk through and began wrapping and loading my furniture. We used Lloyd's to pack and move our home locally. They did come as promised both to pack and moves us as agreed upon. The issues we had seem to be a major disconnect between the sales or agreed on not to exceed quote and what it actually took to perform the move. For instance the mover tried to get us to sign a document saying that we would be charged for boxes that was more than what the sales guy had spec'd. "had to have a site visit with Management and Sales to resolve" They also did not have enough room in the truck to finish the job and I was told " I will have to get the rest myself" "Only after a call to the management" did we get the move to finish on the following Monday. We also spent many hours after the move was complete having to move boxes to the basement and vise-versa due to poor labeling and placement. All and all we where disappointed in the move as this is the 3rd time we have used the company. We also did have a couple of damaged items but there is a claims process to resolve this.. read more

I have moved with commercial movers 10 times over the last 30+ years. The last move with Lloyds is the only move where the movers refused to reassemble furniture they took apart to move or to uncrate artwork, glass doors and marble table tops that I paid extra for them to crate. While the items came through without significant damage, the delivery service was minimal in the extreme. I have five unopened crates in my garage and three large European Antiques in pieces around living spaces. Calling the company the following business day produced no results. The sales rep expressed concern but failed to follow up as promised with any resolution to the issue. Apparently after reading my yelp original review, Loyds called and scheduled to uncrate my remaining items ten days following the move. My wife and I had already reassembled the antiques. They did a professional job of uncrating. read more

We used Lloyd's based off of a recommendation from a friend. I was apprehensive because their pricing was higher than competitors ($184/hour) and didn't know if it would be worth it. Well it was worth every penny! It was our first time using professional movers, so a new experience for us. The manager came to our home to give us a more exact quote based off of what we needed to move. He quoted us a capped quote that we couldn't exceed no matter what and we get money back for any time we were under. Moving day, the guys were pleasant and awesome to work with. We had four movers (definitely recommend) and was shocked how quickly they moved everything. Also they're incredibly strong for small guys. We had this monster sized dresser that they couldn't get upstairs on the first try but they kept trying until they somehow got it upstairs. We really appreciated that because it was impressive that they could even lift the thing. Would highly recommend! read more

We used Lloyd's for a local move. The sales manager was awesome to work with and went out of his way- literally by delivering boxes to us when we called for more - to ensure we had the necessary supplies for packing ourselves. Our moving day didn't go quite as planned, and when we communicated our concerns to the office manager, they were quickly resolved in a manner that we felt very comfortable with. We would use Lloyd's again for another move because their integrity made it a great experience! read more

We used Lloyds Moving last month (Dec. 2017) and was surprisingly very disappointed with their service as we have used them in the past and have always been very pleased. It wasn't the easiest move as we were on the 3rd floor in the apt. building. The guys worked hard but were not very careful at all!! They damaged 2 pieces of furniture and dropped a couple of boxes that were clearly marked fragile. The problem was only 1 of the 3 men spoke/read or understood English and he stayed down with the truck. So they could not read what was marked on the boxes and just didn't understand us when we tried to explain to them. We decided to use Lloyds again for this move as we never really had any problem before but we could have gone with another company for a lot less money since there was no concern on their part for our belongings not being damaged. In spite of that, we still gave each guy a good tip but they didn't seem very appreciative. I spoke to the crew manager about the damage and he said it was our responsibility to call the company. They should have at least reported what happened. I fully expected to receive a follow-up call from Reuben or someone from the company to see how the move went and if we had any problems, etc. Never heard from anyone!! I can't in good faith recommend this company anymore and will definitely not be using them in any future moves. read more

I was originally going to only give this company two stars, but we are still trying to get over the memory of this move. I selected them for the ratings I saw, but unfortunately it turned out just the opposite. Locally they may do better, but across state lines and with storing of the goods, it was a nightmare. The salesman (Gerald) was very good, but the company did not deliver on the care and quality of service. They packed things in whatever box had room, so it took us forever to find thing. Some items did not even show up at our new home. The guys who packed the truck seemed nice, but it was like a three-ringed circus (very unorganized). It was too late by then to back out. Whoever they hired to deliver the goods, they were not movers. They showed up six hours late on delivery day with three guys, which made the finish time between midnight and 1 AM. I even assisted trying to hurry things up. It got so bad that they were just leaving boxes in the garage to get done. I can't go into the items that were broken or deeply scratched, but they loaded so much weight on top of our Kitchen table that it broke/crushed all four legs. The driver even ran over our lawn leaving grooves in the newly laid sod. I'll only say one thing about the "climate controlled" storage they promised, our fine antique dining set finish looked as if it started melting from some sort of heat. So I doubt if it was in any type of cooling environment over the hot summer. We have moved between states a couple times before and have not had any major issues. It would have been better to have sold everything and purchased all new furniture. There is much more I could say but I dont have the time. Just beware of what is actually happening during the move with this moving company, and get everything in writing. read more
