I started using this service four years ago in 2019 and cancelled the service a week ago. When I first engaged them they were Joshua's Pest Control. I don't know if it was just a coincidence, but with the name change there was a distinguishable downgrade to their service. Before I cancelled the service, I offered them an opportunity to comeback and do the job that was expected. We set up an appointment for the following week. I was sent a text or email stating they would be back on a specific day and given a time frame of between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. I waited until 4:30 pm at which time I called them and canceled that appointment. The next time I called I asked them to delete my on file credit card and asked for half of the payment, since they did a half a _ _ job. I was told that wouldn't work for them. This morning I was very upset about an issue I was having. I was not very pleasant to speak with but the young man on the other end stayed very calm and told me he would look into my problem and call me back. I told myself I would leave a review if I did not feel the problem was resolved fairly. He did call me back and he did figure out the problem and he did make good on getting me taken care of. So I think because I was ready to write a bad review I should in turn write this good review. The service it self is about the same as any other large pest control company. But I feel they really worked at resolving my issue and I would definitely recommend them. read more

I just canceled service after a year because I continue to have an ant problem in my master bath. The sole reason I signed up with Moxie. The service guys are messy while spraying chemicals. Actually sprayed chemicals in my dogs food and water bowl!! And I was allowing these people in my home while I was at work. Could be the very reason my dog has had on going stomach issues. This business has unacceptable customer service. We called to treat an issue at our house and were talked into quarterly service, which we were happy with as it was explained to us. The technician addressed the initial issue and said he would need to come back to spray the rest of the house because he ran out of time, which happened a month later. What was not explained to us is that each quarter past the first treatment would cost more than the technician quoted. It was also not explained that the visit to spray the rest of the house ONE MONTH LATER would be considered the second treatment. When I called to discuss the issue, they claimed that we were sent a schedule and cost breakdown (WE WERE NOT SENT A SCHEDULE AND COST BREAKDOWN). We are left paying $190 for them to fog our chimney and do a basic spraying of the house, which should have all been included in the first visit for $85 according to the technician when we signed up. Their excuse is that we didn't call them back to schedule the remaining treatment (though they still charged us the full amount), and that this is the typical service for all quarterly customers (that's fine, if they had actually accurately explained the service to us). Do not pay a dime to these people without clearly having the services explained to you in writing. read more

Stay away! Read the fine print! No customer service!! I get a voice mail from MOXIE PEST CONTROL telling me they want to come out and do a service the next day. I am trying to save some money...like everyone these days....so I call to cancel service. They tell me that no matter what...I am on the hook for the $80 dollar service because I signed a piece of paper a year and a half ago saying that I have to give a 30 day WRITTEN notice to cancel service. I told her that I don't want the service...and...I don't want to pay for something I don't want. She quickly goes into threatening me that they would send me to a collection service if I didn't pay. This is all over $80... I think the most interesting and telling part about the conversation between myself and the first person that answered the phone...and then the "supervisor" or person that claimed that she is in charge is....neither one bothered to ask why I wanted to cancel the service. This tells me that this is a common call...and they have been instructed to grab for that last $80. Never once did they try and "resell" the service to me and retain a customer that has been with them for a year and a half. The sad part is the field technicians have always been very nice and pleasant to work with. Stay away! Should leave zero stars. Very concerning. Had a service done on Tuesday January 3rd that I thought went fine. Come to find out today, via a phone call with Patty, the inside as well as the back yard was not done. Why this is concerning is the fact that my aunt who was home at the time was told to stand outside for half an hour while the inside was done.... If the inside was not sprayed why was the technician inside my home for half an hour?? If he didn't feel comfortable doing it why was my aunt made to stand outside while it was supposed to be done?? What was actually done inside my house?? Absolutely disgusted with that. I also understand there being more activity after a spray, but if nothing was sprayed why all of a sudden were there flies in my house?? It's too cold outside for them, but yet I was told (again by Patty) that they probably flew inside through the doggy door, mind you a doggy door that has been there for a few months and I haven't seen a single fly since as it's been too cold. We started service with Moxie Pest Control on August 4th of 2021. As of September 15th, 2021 they have been to my residence 4 times. Two of those times were scheduled (August 6th, and Sept 7th), and two I requested (August 9th and September 1st). They stated each time they treated the entire yard and paid special attention to obviously infested areas, which I can verify due to visually present granules. However, their product has not effected any of my insect infestations. All of the ant hills are still thriving, along with an abundance of wolf spiders and other species they say they can prevent. Upon calling to cancel they stated I had to pay the $139.64, as agreed upon for the service being provided for September, October, and November along with a $180 cancelation fee. Contacting a lawyer as their end of the agreement was not met and it is unjust that they requiring me pay almost $350 for a future service that I not only do not want but does not work. read more

We have been using this company for more than 5 years and over the course of time have changed so many technicians. They sent me kids before who while very polite and courteous did not do the best job. We finally settled with a senior technician whom we absolutely loved till a couple of weeks ago when he didn't show up for the appointment. I just learned yesterday that my technician quit and that they tried to reach me to re-schedule. As far as I was concerned no messages or missed calls and I've always gotten their calls or messages in the past. Perhaps two weeks ago was the exception. I talked with the manager because I was quite irritated to have stayed at home on a weekend so I can let them in the house. The manager who was polite on the phone told me that there's really nothing they can do about it and if we were unhappy we can close our account! Hah! I feel so very valued as a customer! Really! So if you want to look for a business who does not give a crap about you and get inconsistent pest services go to Moxie!!! read more

Moxie, treated my house for fleas. They were prompt with there appointment time and very good communicating with me as a customer. The price was very reasonable and the charged me exactly as they told me it would cost up front. After the initial treatment almost all fleas were gone and I called them and they immediately scheduled another time to come out and retreat. I highly recomend them. read more

Originally hired them for moles in my yard, that was over three years ago and my yard is worse than it was before. I've given them chance after chance and listened to their excuses on why they can't control the moles. I finally cancelled my contract with them because of their slow response and poor customer service. I would not recommend them for any pest control. This company came to my house unapproved without a schedule appointment. Did not wait for me to schedule an appointment. Typically, they treated my garage and other locked areas of my home. They came unapproved without permission for any service, supposedly came to my home walked around the exterior and sent me a bill for $80. The bill doesn't even state what services were performed. It only states "Quarterly." And they "treated" the exterior of my home in the dead winter, immediately after a snow storm in February. They told me on the phone that I was in "breach of contract" because I didn't call them back to schedule an appointment, and their policy is to come out and service homes when "customers" don't call back. Since when can a company can just come to a house and claim they treated it and then bill you? Now they are claiming to send me to collections because I refuse to pay for services unordered. We were recommended to Moxie and have been entirely unhappy with our service ever since. They did not explain their pricing or fees clearly and we were surprised with a bill, which once explained, we paid even though we felt it was a bit unfair and unclear as to why it was not explained BEFORE being charged. We were willing to give Moxie the benefit of the doubt that perhaps we had misunderstood and we proceeded forward. We have since had to schedule multiple times for repeat treatments as the product either does not work, is not being applied properly, or both. They advertise free repeat treatments, but having to repeat treatments multiple times only to still have the same problems is not only ridiculous, but an incredibly annoying waste of time to have to being home and plan for in the middle of the work day. Who wants to spend their free time dealing with scheduling appointments and planning to be home for pest control? We have also had billing issues and been told conflicting information regarding our bill more than once and continue to have the same problem. At our last scheduled appointment for a repeat treatment I was told that because I am pregnant they cannot complete the treatment as it is "unsafe" and "against the company policy" to do so. I was NEVER told this during our other MULTIPLE appointments and no employee ever verified or mentioned this policy prior to treating our home even though I was pregnant during those treatments as well. Once again we were left having to reschedule yet ANOTHER treatment after wasting time being available for this one. When I called to inquire why this all the sudden is a safety issue and how no employee ever cared to verify or mention this before I was met with unprofessional attitude and rude, useless repetitive statements that, per the one year contract, it would cost money to cancel and that it is not the employee's or Moxie's responsibility to verify they are following their own safety policies, rather it is the customers job to pay a "professional" to not follow their own safety guidelines and to memorize every line of the contract prior to each scheduled treatment to ensure policy is followed. No apology for the mistake on Moxie's end or acknowledgement of error or lapse in professional judgement. If a bartender is required to check ID prior to selling a drink even though the law states a legal drinking age, why is Moxie not responsible for verifying they are following their own policy prior to treating a home? When I asked to speak with a supervisor I was told they were not in even though it was still during normal business hours. I asked for a call back the following day and did not receive one. We called back the next day and no one answered. I called again today and was told the supervisor was not in. I cannot express how unhappy we are to have the misfortune of working such a pathetic and unprofessional company who treats their customers in such a way and disregards their own policies and guidelines at the risk of their customer's wellbeing and then fails to follow up on an issue they themselves have created. I would NEVER RECOMMEND MOXIE to anybody unless you prefer to waste your time and money dealing with people who do not care to provide the service they promise and waste your time and money endlessly with no regard or acknowledgment of the situation. read more

I originally signed up with them when a deal came across on Groupon or LivingSocial for their company. However, I was very unimpressed with them. The first scheduled appointment, the service technician did not show up on time. We had a problem with mice around the time we started with them, and they were not very helpful in fixing that problem. In fact, our cats did all the work there. They said that all they could do for mice problems was to lay down glue traps. Goodness! I know how to do that and can do it for much cheaper than $95! Also, I have not noticed decreased bug activity in our house. In fact, if anything, there may be more bugs in our house now than there were before. For one of my quarterly appointments, Moxie came at 8 AM on a Saturday morning because they failed to call the correct number to let me know to schedule my next treatment. I did not get up to answer the door because no one should be ringing a doorbell before 9 or 10 AM on a Saturday. They treated the outside of the house and left the bill on the front porch. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with Moxie and will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Customer service is very poor. Read your fine print. I completed one year of service per our agreement and then emailed them to cancel. I was told that since I did not cancel within 30 days of the next quarterly service due, that I would still be responsible for another quarterly service. I was a good, paying customer for one full year and completed one year of service per the agreement that was sold to me yet they would not honor my cancellation due to timing. I'm sorry that is very poor customer service. When I asked if I could speak to the owner of this supposed local company, I was told "the owner does not speak to customers". That is very unfortunate and says a lot right there. I'm certain there are better pest control options available in the Kansas City area that will recognize what is best in the name of good customer service. read more
