I love this place! First off, let me tell you that I'm not a big seafood fan, but my husband loves seafood and we came here to eat. This best tasting taco a 4 ingredient taco with amazing sauce that comes with it 10 out of 10. Food like this makes me think of real authentic home cook meals. Normally I like to share my positive experiences on Yelp but after what I encountered with Mr. Clamato, I am a very unsatisfied customer. I was really looking forward to sharing the great experience and food I had with my family and close friends. I asked on my last visit if I can have a gathering of maybe 15-20 people (taking the distancing into consideration) for a birthday celebration. The staff member who assisted my friend and I, said that it was possible but they were very busy on Sunday, so please call ahead and they could save the benches in the patio. I was very excited and made the arrangements with family and friends. I called a week before and Alexis said that was fine just to call a few days before to reconfirm. I called a few days before to finalize the date and time. Noemi was very nice and helped make sure her manager was aware. I show up 30 minutes ahead of schedule to prepare. When I arrived, I notice all the tables in the patio were filled and proceeded to find the first staff member available. She seemed puzzled. I mentioned I had reserved tables for a birthday and confirmed with Noemi; who spoke to a manager named Victor. She assured us she would call the manager out to help me. Victor (manager) approached my mother and I, just as I was getting ready to greet him, he immediately started asking me who in Bakersfield would ever book a party of 20?! Also, they are monitored and would immediately be shut down if they allowed a table of even 10 people. He asked if I knew the laws during this time and that he didn't know who I spoke with but no one in Bakersfield would allow that many to one party. As I am trying to keep my composure, I notice to the right of me a table of twelve people and they were definitely crammed. So how is that any different? To me, they made a mistake and this gentlemen was just not willing to admit it. I was pretty peeved at this point, especially because I had my group on their way and was told by his staff/management that they could and would reserve the tables. Did I assume we would be split up? Of course, I did. Was this a huge let down for all involved? Definitely. I think what upset me the most was his lack of customer service and accountability. Also, they were so packed, orders were an hour and a half wait. Yes, I enjoy their unique dishes but no it is not worth the treatment I received that afternoon. What they don't understand is how inconvenient their mistake was for all involved. We had people driving far to try this place out for the first time. Needless to say they probably will not be returning. I really enjoyed this place prior to this disappointing experience. I am sure they will continue to succeed and I hope their service continues to improve as they grow. read more

The aguachiles here at phenomenal! But be AWARE of your change!!! The lady that took our order STOLE our $10 change and gave it to herself as a tip... I'm sure.... Joana was rude from the start. First she didn't start my order until I got there (25 mins after I called), she was rude to me & as I was waiting for my order she kept looking at me almost trying to fight. I was charged for Extra avocado & I still didn't receive it. I also asked for a good amount of Mayo & she only gave me 2 packets. When I asked for extra tostadas she told me she can only give me 3 tostadas for each order. I bought TWO LARGE CEVICHES smh I come here all the time and I've never been upset with anyone that works there until today. Terrible experiences, two to be exact. A week ago I went for fish ceviche(weekday, five-ish). They took my order after twenty minutes they told me that they were out of it and if I wanted to order another dish. I got a full refund. Today, I called it in they took my order for fish ceviche and I paid over the phone, I get there picked it up and took it home to enjoy. We'll to my surprise this ceviche is EXTREMELY Salty as .... I Will Not Ever Go there, I have no idea what's going on with their service. Only if there were a negative star rating. I don't tend to give awful reviews, but it's unfair for other customers to go spend their money on unworthy food. read more

Great food with an interesting menu of options, clean, cute, roomy with indoor-outdoor seating & mister fans, the best Red Beer and great service! Had Modelo Red Beers, shrimp tacos, chicharones and marlin tacos...delicious!We'll definitely be back for more.Wish I had taken pictures, but I think you "get the picture". this place is SO good. definitely the spot to go to if you're a fish food lover. every time i come here Mr. Clamato never disappoints. they have indoor seating and outdoor (with fans & a must to keep you cool on hot days). they have music playing and have a lot of seating (place still gets very packed on weekends). highly recommend! i ordered the shrimp ceviche & wow! i was shocked at how much shrimp i got. they're very generous with their amount. you don't get 3 pieces of shrimp like red lobster hahaha. you get your money's worth for sure! read more

Ordered the grilled shrimp tacos, Campechana and taco Loco. The taco loco had marlin, octopus, shrimp and cheese. They were good. The shrimp tacos were called tacos gobernador, they had grilled shrimp, grilled onion, Serrano chiles, and Monterey Jack cheese. The tortillas were bomb. Maybe this will get his attention. I am sad to have to do this but I made efforts to advise the owner/manager of Mr. Clamato and received no response. My husband and I have been supporters from the beginning. We even own Mr. Clamato GEAR but our most recent experience took us by surprise. With the covid-19 concerns in Kern County we knew that we still wanted to support our local favorites and also keep the tradition of weekly date nights alive. We traveled to Mr. Clamatos as we have many times, placed an order and waited. 30mins later we inquired with the girl at the window who seemed confused as to what order we were talking about. Then we stepped back and the person behind us had arrived to pick up a phone order. A different girl assisted him at the window and became agitated with him after he asked about a missing part of his order. She walked away, took a few minutes, returned, and placed the missing order right outside the window and said, "there you go." She was visibly upset and was completely rude. He looked at us and made the comment, "I don't know why she's so mad" and we all laughed. He left and we attempted to order another item and the girl stated, "oh we ran out." So we continued to wait and could see her making the same exact order we wanted to place, over and over again. It was safe to assume she lied. We received our order 50mins after we had placed it. At a time live this, the last thing customers deserve is poor customer service. We haven't been back since and for us, that's a long time. So beware! read more

This is my favor mariscos place in Bakersfield. Seafood is fresh, Michelada mix is amazing and over the winter season, I just can't get enough of the clam chowder in the bread bowl and grilled shrimp.
