My vehicle was towed while I was actively unloading photography equipment for a scheduled job. My car was left unattended to run upstairs to collect the rest of my photography equipment. I also had proof that I paid for parking, I was only loading up to leave. When I went to retrieve my vehicle, I was charged over $400, including what appeared to be a full day's rate and additional labor fees, even though I recovered my car in one hour and six minutes. As well as suspicious credit card processing fees. (Hello, illegal!) Because the charges didn't seem reasonable to me based on the situation, I disputed them through my bank and provided documentation. The dispute was resolved in my favor and I received a permanent refund. Based on my experience, the way this situation was handled felt very predatory. (Wasn't surprised after reading these reviews) I strongly encourage anyone in a similar situation to: * Keep your receipts * Take photos and document everything * Advocate for yourself and question charges that don't seem right Know your rights and don't be afraid to follow through. The front desk lady was super rude and became defensive when I questioned the fees but I got my $ back and I want you all to do the same. My tow was in January. All I wanted to do was retrieve my car and pay the fees I needed to get it back but all these reviews were not lying when they said the employees here are bitter and angry. All 3 girls sitting in that office can't even form a complete sentence let alone say "please" or "thank you" when asking you for something. Super shady business. I have time today so BUCKLE UP! Backstory: My husband bought a new car. Yay for us. He left his car that we were going to trade in near the dealership on the suggestion of the dealership employee (bad call but whatever). The car's tags were expired. Got towed by Mr. C's on June 5. We got the letter that it had been towed on June 5 and impounded on June 10. On June 12, we got another notice that said the car would be auctioned on July 16 if we didn't claim it/pay the lien on it by then. There was a "current total due" of $360, a storage fee of $45/day and towing fee of $170. I called Saturday evening, around 530 to see what the total cost would be to pick it up Monday (today, June 17). I was told $870. Bullshit but ok. We got all the paperwork done, and went to pick up the car, they said it was $1225. I said absolutely not. They argued that they received a letter from the police station to raise their prices (when does the PD ever get to dictate what a business charges?!). I said "you got a letter between Saturday night and Monday afternoon?" They said yes, and they could prove it. Ok, prove it, show me the letter. "Oh well I can't show you the letter because it's private" (watch out, starting to trip from backpedaling!). I said I want to document it so I can build my case because the notice I have about then auctioning the car had a rate on it and it was signed under the penalty of perjury. He said he would take 2 days of storage fees off. No. Not good enough. And here's why: 1. IF they actually got that letter, it would be in effect as of today, so why is my daily storage fee being increased back to when you took my husband's car? 2. The tow fee was increased to $230, per the "letter". Why? The car was towed on the 5th. All that to say, bring ALL of your documentation. They are trying to rip people off that either won't talk back or don't understand. Oh, also, they only take cash or card and have signs EVERYWHERE that they won't split payments. My review is based solely off of the pricing and service of the company. First pricing is crazy, my car was towed at 930pm,I called them at 10:50pm, and was on my way to pick up I asked if it could be reduced since they have only had my car 1 hr 20 mins they said nothing could be done even though the cop I spoke to told me the business should not have towed my car until 10:30pm when the business(Shakey's) closed. Also, the treatment I received after I paid the tow was ridiculous. The tow yard forced me to go behind there gate to get my car instead of bringing it out to me. Please note I'm a young female. To start off, I hardly ever write reviews. So my husband and I rented a u-haul truck through them. Our pick up time was at 8:30PM... when we arrive we show them our reservation and they happily brought out the truck... However, when they brought out the truck we all noticed that there was a HUGE THICK LOCK, making it impossible to open the back of the truck... The people who rented out the truck before us, never took the lock off... and without us even asking, Arik and his WHOLE crew, literally tried to get the lock off the truck. They called their bosses, asked several other team members on how they could get the lock off. And when we mentioned that it was okay, we told them we were going to find a different place and we were about to walk away... BUT THEN Arik, got a call from the back and his coworker told him that they wanted to try one more time. And seriously after 2 hours of them sacrificing their time and energy, they were able to get the lock off and we were able to rent out the truck. I know they don't have the best rep, and I get it it's mostly because cars are getting towed, it's part of their job... but truly without their help we would've wasted so much money renting out a random truck that we couldn't even open. DONT RENT UHAULS FROM THIS PLACE Borrowed a $20 10ft box truck 2 weeks ago. Took forever to get the truck, when they finally gave it to me it had no gas. I used the truck for 3 hours and returned it with half a tank. Gave the guy at the window the keys and saw someone drive the truck into their lot. Several days later i finally get a charge from uhaul for $375. No receipt or anything. They claim i never returned the truck and have no record of it ever being dropped off. Apparently the towing company isn't even in charge of checking the uhauls back in. Theres a regional manager who is in charge and each time uhaul tries to get a hold of her it goes straight to voicemail. That had me more pissed at uhaul than anything so i didnt want to give this place a bad review. But now all of a sudden i get a random charge for $23 on my card and its from Mr Cs Towing. Ive called them 3 times already and i get put on hold indefinitely, or hung up on. This place is super shady. Avoid these idiots and rent a uhaul directly from one of their locations unless you want mysterious and inflated charges 2 weeks after dealing with them read more

I echo the sentiment of everyone giving these crooks 1 star. On Friday, I went to Del Rio Bowling lanes on a Packed night. At least over 12 cars parked on the the entire row next to the lingerie and small business that were closed, staying away from the Amapola empty lot. A 12:50 they towed My Car. After calling Downey PD over 30 times and getting no information, I finally connected with this establishment who confirmed at 4am (just 4 hours after the pick up), that they Had my vehicle. I arrived shortly after, as I only live 5 minutes away, only for them to tell me that it would be $430, to get my car out. When we asked why the price was so high, the man at the reception said that fee was based on the City of Downey and not them, but when you receive the receipt it has an $85 charge for a Gate fee, which is ridiculous when my car was not there for even half a day, as well as $85 for labor?! I don't know how much truth there is of the fee being based on the City, or, if the City is in fact getting some kind of cut in this ongoing scam.
