Hi, I visit your drive thru service periodically to order one or two ground beef empanadas with steak fries. I've never had a problem until today. My first meal of the day, I ordered my usual and went home right around the corner to eat my food. Almost immediately, my stomach became upset and forcefully, I ran to the bathroom to vomit every last bit of the food I had eaten. Something was definitely wrong. Please ensure your employees are following proper food safety handling and health guidelines to ensure customers do not become ill. This place is so good! I've been ordering from here for years and realized that the orders are ALWAYS right, they are efficient & accurate and if you order on uber eats, they are so fast! Passed by here Saturday and decided to order a few empanadas, and we were not disappointed. We ordered the ground beef, chicken broccoli and cheese, spinach and artichoke, Italian sausage and cheese, the chicken and cheese, guava and cream cheese as well as the Spanish bean soup. It was all delicious. I've never have a chicken broccoli and cheese empanada, but I will absolutely order that one again. I really liked that the empanadas aren't greasy. The soup was good and the meat they put in it (not sure what kind) was really tender. The pricing isn't bad either. They even have a drive thru which makes picking up a few empanadas super easy. The beef and cheese empanada is my favorite! The buffalo chicken and pizza are also really good. Poor customer service, The racism I experience has been the most disturbing experience in life sad to say as a Latino I went to go and support and it left me with the worst experience ever. I walked in did not get greeted and was immediately asked if I was the uber driver. I was wearing scrubs with company name on it that you can not miss. After I enter behind me a Caucasian men walks in and he was greeted and treated with the most respect and was not asked if he was the uber driver, not to mention this man was dressed in normal clothing. My empanadas were very good... and I preferred the Picadillo, personally. Very tasty... although needed some heat to make it really good! Hot sauce was provided.. and that did the trick! My girlfriend opened up the Spinach, Artichoke and Cheese (they are packaged individually with clear labeling)... bit into it, and made a face. It turns out that somehow they had stuck a Guava and Cheese empanada in the bag, and it was not what she was expecting, obviously! She purchased a beef and cheese empanada for herself, which I had a small bite of, which was pretty tasty for never having a empanada with cheese. She also got a pizza empanada that was passed along to my son...... Let me tell you.... He devoured it! He kept saying "yum!"! Lastly for myself, I had the beef empanada (picadillo). We've eaten Cuban sandwiches here over the past couple years with only a couple small issues. However, today will be the last time they ever get my business. My girlfriend went through the drive through and got a salad and Cuban sandwich for me. I ate the salad then opened the Cuban sandwich which had a black hair right on top that looked like a pubic hair...also the meat on it looked old and nasty (it had a grayish brown color to it). We take the sandwich back and speak with manager. He said "ok, you want another sandwich!?" Of course we said no. He gave us a refund and said "here you go." That was it, no apology, nothing which you think management would apologize and feel a little embarrassed or remorseful but not there. The last dollar they'll ever get from us. read more

If I'm in Tampa, I MUST stop by Mr. Empanadas. It doesn't matter if I'm sticking to my low-carb lifestyle or not, my guilty pleasure is hitting up one of their locations for fresh, hot empanadas. They would get 5 stars except, since they are franchised, this particular location on Dale Mabry doesn't have the same level of customer service as the one on Kennedy. The Kennedy location team are family and they just do a bang-up job making you feel like you're one of their members. They will give you extra hot sauce if you ask without giving you the side-eye and they just make things amazing. However, the consistency of the empanadas is just to die for. My favorite is beef & cheese, then chicken, broccoli & cheese. For dessert, you've gotta try the guava and cheese but the apple empanada will make your heart sing when they hop fresh out of the fryer. For two hungry, greedy people, expect to spend about $40 with enough for left-overs for late night munchies or in my case breakfast during my meeting the next day. This is a terrible restaurant. They messed up my order then demanded I fix it through Uber. Actually told me I had to fix it through Uber. They shorted me on food. Admitted it was their mess up and I am supposed to fix it through someone else? Then the guy says "he is the owner" and that's how it's going to be. He actually said that to me. Unbelievable. Do any of you really want a food preparer who is willing to steal your money and push off their admitted mistakes on others actually handling your food? That's pretty scary. Something is very wrong with a restaurant that goes to battle with a customer after they took money and refused to make right their wrong in shorting food. It's really hard to drive by a Mr. Empanada without having my mouth water for their tasty empanadas. Whether you're in South Tampa in in Carrollwood, the food never disappoints. My husband is latino so I've had some fantastic empanadas, but these guys definitely know how to master their stuffed flaky pastries. This is my first visit to Mr. Empanada. This is a nice, clean store in a Publix shopping center. This is one of a number of locations grown from a single location years ago by Mr. Perez. We ordered a deviled crab and an Italian salad without meat, and a cafe con leche. I've eaten at many Cuban restaurants in Tampa and this is one of, if not the best deviled crab. Full of crab meat instead of stuffing! Authentic cafe con leche. The only disappointment was my guest's salad. Totally uninteresting consisting of uninspired lettuce and five olives placed on top with a small cup of dressing in a styrofoam box. To be fair, I did not try their signature empanadas. Lots of traffic for take out orders while we were there. Nice, clean outdoor seating with umbrella. read more
