Such a treat to have this restaurant so close to where I live. I had family over from England and they had never heard of, let alone eaten an Empanada. I convinced them to try it selling them that they tasted like Cornish Pasties. Anyway, after the first visit they are all hooked and Mr Empanadas is their first choice for lunch if we are eating out. Mr. Empanadas has been in this location on N Orth Dale Mabry for many years. This little shopping plaza has always offered great food, but it is currently a mecca for eating & drinking, in the Carrollwood area. It is located just North of the Busch overpass on the East side of the road. This establishment not only serves killer empanadas, but also has terrific salads and sandwiches. Over the years, I have been quite pleased with all food products I have eaten here, but I am partial to the empanadas. They have the perfect flaky crust, not too doughy or dry, just the right density & amount of fillings. My personal favorites are the Italian sausage & cheese & the pizza, the rest are not far behind. All flavor combinations are super tasty with delightful seasoning. Over the years I have attended many events, that had this establishments delectable treats, both savory & sweet in their line up of catered appetizers, yes they also cater. I will continue to support them at this my favorite location, as well as their other locations. I love the service and timely & friendly staff. What's a girl to do? The empanadas are all frozen so nothing is made fresh. I stopped there today and my empanadas were cold. I saw several Cuban sandwiches setting out pre made waiting to be pressed when ordered. I had an upset stomach after eating. From now on I'll go somewhere else to eat. read more

Not sure I would call these good empanadas. Its obviously frozen and fried, not fresh. I guess if you like fast good this would be the place to go, although I prefer McDonalds. Have gone a few times, tried empanadas, cubans, gave them the benefit of the doubt, however each time I left less and less satisfied. Service was terrible every time, I have never seen the manager smile and workers have been just as bad. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

I'm not sure if these are the most authentic empandas (I have been to some authentic restaurants and even to Argentina and Chile). So I suppose this is a matter of personal taste but I love the empanadas at Mr Empanda. I suspect part of the goodness is that they are fried (freshly) and not baked. My favorite is the beef and cheese! As most people know - you order your empanda(s) and then they fry them so they are hot and fresh when you get them. Also I don't like a lot of olives or other things in my empanadas - I prefer them simple. I haven't tried anything but the empanadas but the other food does look good too. The empanadas are pretty good but somehow they​ got the Cuban Sandwich all wrong. The ham is there, but it's deli ham (which is acceptable). When I opened the sandwich to add mustard, I noticed​ d that it had only one small thin slice of deli pork and the same amount of cheese. Pretty lame. They did have a slice of salami in there, so it's Tampa style, but it's a low ranking Cuban sandwich in a place that should know better. read more

Do not waste your time or money... You walk in and place your order at the counter and they still mess up your order. When I called to let them know that they messed up my order they could not even find the order in the system. The person I spoke to kept asking me when did I place the order. I heard a rude person in the back asking if I was mad because they messed up. WTF is that about. The "so called Cuban's" are NOT good at all cheap meat. The empanadas are NOT fresh they have to be frozen. NEVER NEVER NEVER going back. read more

I come to Orlando from New York City to vacation at my home but each time I do I travel to Tampa to eat at Mr Empanadas. The devil crabs are delicious and the variety of empanadas are all special. When we visit anyone we take trays of the mini empanadas which are always a hit with family and friends. If the food being so good is not enough well the staff is always wonderfull they emulate the owner who is perhaps the friendliest person I know. You have to try it!!!!!!!! Glenn read more
