    Cuban Sandwich
    Robert R.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. They were willing to answer questions. The cuban and media noche sandwiches were very good. The cortadito was delicious. The dining area was very clean and just enough decoration to spruce it up without being overwhelming.

Found a new favorite spot!! Everything is a 10 out of 10! The food, the service and the ambiance. I tried them for the first time 4 or so days ago and I've eaten here everyday since! I tried a few things. The Bacon, egg and cheese on Cuban, the steak bowl, the muffin, a French toast sandwich and the key lime pie. Everything is cooked to perfection! The muffin is heated up on the grill and it just takes it up another level! The bacon, egg and cheese and what I went for and its quick, easy and tasty. I don't have not one bad thing to say. The prices are moderate and again the customer service is great. I would absolutely recommend you check them out. You won't regret it.

Mojito Pork... Delicious and a bit spicy. Fresh bread!

Get your self to this place! Wow... No idea what I was missing. They special in all things Cuban with lots of sandwiches to select from besides the standard Cuban sandwich. I have always preferred the Media Noche, which is basically a Cuban sandwich on sweeter yellow bread. Here the bread is so fresh and ingredients spot on with just the right amount of sauce. Also tried the Mojito Pork with lechon, or "young pig" so a velvety meat flavor. This one is delicious too and does have a bit of a "kick" but not overly spicy. Also tried the beef empanada. The meat inside was perfectly marinated and juicy. The deep fried shell was nicely flaky with each bite. This site has seen a number of failed restaurants but none even close to how delicious this chain restaurant is. I'm going to spread the word and keep coming back. Tampa and Miami battle back and forth as to who created today's version of the Cuban sandwich. This chain nails it with their flavors and freshness. Glad I don't have to go all the way to Ybor City to experience my craving for Cuban sandwiches. This place takes my #1 spot away from Las Palmas! Their service and friendliness is better too! This is right off I-75 at Bruce B Downs so perfect for anyone passing by! Only couple items that could have been better: 1) Napkins are the tiniest I've seen. For a finger-food place bigger napkins are important. 2) The Coca-Cola machine was out of all lemonade and lemon flavors. This meant a bunch of drinks weren't available. This is an easy fix. Also had my drink splash down on me, the wall and the floor because the shelf you set the cup on isn't bolted down. 3) They carry only one brand of chips and at time of my visit only had three types. I choose hickory BBQ, which was good. They need to keep the other choices fully stocked and had no plain chips. Still loved my visit...

They recently opened up this location in the New Tampa area. They have another location in Riverview. Now, to be honest, my wife and I were looking to eat someplace else but they were really crowded. As we were leaving that restaurant, we saw Box of Cubans. First thought, cigar shop! Then we saw on their sign that they make a Cuban sandwich. Ok! We love Cuban food. This place is big with a lot of tables. They have music playing inside and outside. May be a bit loud for some but it added to the atmosphere. Menu is either up on the wall or there were only 2 laminated menus available. There were a lot of people waiting as it was around lunch time. It was a clean place and decorated nicely. So far, so good. I ordered the Lechon sandwich (marinated pork with onions and cilantro sauce. It was good and tasty. I would have loved to add peppers and cheese. My wife ordered a beef empanadas and liked the flavor. She said that it was "beefy" and nice. She also thought it was bigger than most other stores. The service was very friendly, energetic and helpful. We spent over $21 for our food. Seems a bit high. However, I have noticed the prices for Latin inspired foods in the Tampa area has gone up be it a food truck or restaurant. I would recommend visiting this location. Enjoy your food experience!

Amazing experience here! I've driven by the storefront several times and finally got the chance to try it today. From the moment I walked in I was met with such warm energy. The front cashier was so extremely nice and patient with me trying to decide what I wanted. I ordered the Cuban and it was amazing! Very authentic. Despite the Tampa area being famous for all of its Cuban spots, it can be hard to find a good one around here some times. I was very satisfied and will definitely come back.

Excellent customer service! Media noche sandwich was delicious, fresh and tasty! We devoured it!

When they just open I was there. I want the opinion of the public before I give them average rating. I was Miami resident for eleven years. Very much know about the Cuban cuisine. Especially the use of sauce. We got the mojo pork bowl. It comes with plantain and rice and bean. I feel the mojo sauce is very little. It can be more heavy spices. The Bistec is definitely not better. Although it carry the taste but I feel they are very light. Overall is average. Clerk is friendly. Need to wait for the food due to many customers.

Came to grab a Cuban sandwich to go. I am obsessed with Cuban sandwiches recently. The person behind the counter was witty and funny, very welcoming! It might have been the owner itself. Good space to sit and eat, causal ambience. The reason I am giving 3 stars ( to start, that might change, I have to try another time since it's also a new place ) is that compared to my favorite places I go to in the area the pork had less flavor, and I like the mustard flavor and pickles at my usual spot better. I also like the bread at my usual spot better. Needless to say it's a solid place, and I haven't tried the other things they have. I am glad there is a new Cuban place around this area here, because the drive to get Cuban food can be long depending on where you live. I suggest you come and try the menu, try their coffee and support the new restaurant. It's definitely a place when I crave a Cuban and don't want to drive that long I'd get it again.

After my bike ride, I was craving a Cuban sandwich--and Google led me to this gem just 4 minutes from Flatwoods Trail. Even in the parking lot, the music made it clear I'd come to the right place. The moment I stepped inside, the cool AC was a welcome relief and a good sign I'd made the right choice. The staff were friendly, offering helpful recommendations and taking care with my order. I immediately loved the vibe. I kicked off my Monday with a classic combo: café con leche and a Cuban sandwich. As a first-time visitor, they even surprised me with a complimentary empanada! The space is spacious, clean, and full of positive energy. Definitely come back to try everything on the menu

Just checked this place out, talked with owner they are still on the soft opening stage. Had the lechón sandwich. Lots of onions and good amount of pork. Could have used some more flavor. Also had the cafe con leche that was good. It's made to order so don't expect quick service. It's not pre made so it's understandable

I didn't realize I was craving Picadillo but after one bite I was in heaven! My friend enjoyed her Cuban sandwich and sweet plantains. The manager was very friendly. He gave us a little history of the company and some ordering suggestions. It's a nice sized restaurant in a strip mall. If you like Cuban food, this is fantastic!

We popped in to Box of Cubans after hearing about it from a friend. The Cuban sandwich was the absolute best I have ever had! I ordered sweet plantains and the guava and cream cheese empanada. They were all delicious! The service was super speedy. The restaurant is mostly white with elements of red, blue and green. Very cute atmosphere. I will definitely be back.

Still run by descendants of the founder. We had a Saturday 7pm reservation and the place was packed (seats around 1,700 people, per our server), but we were seated only 5-6 minutes late and service never felt strained despite the crowd. Started with warm, authentic Cuban bread and butter, then split the Original "1905" Salad -- tossed and served tableside, with Romano cheese, garlic dressing, ham, tomatoes, lettuce, and Swiss cheese. It's basically an entree on its own. The empanadas were also excellent: light crust, extremely flavorful filling, juices running with every bite. For my entree I had the Red Snapper "Adelita" -- grilled, topped with hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, served over their signature yellow rice. Perfectly cooked fish, very flavorful toppings. For dessert, we compared the key lime pie against the white chocolate bread pudding. The pie was well-made -- perfect texture, perfect graham cracker crust, light raspberry sauce -- but a touch light on the tart key lime punch I look for. The bread pudding was the better dish: rich, decadent, excellent. Finished with proper Cuban espresso. The menu here is enormous -- expect to need multiple visits to make a dent in it. Everything we tried was excellent. Highly recommend, but book ahead on weekends; even with 1,700 seats, this place fills up.

We were told that it would be a 30-40 minute wait, but it was hardly a 20 minute wait. The ambiance of the place is so homey, and the staff is generally pleasant. First of all, do not underestimate the BREAD. It is probably, hands down, the best baguette bread I have had in the US. We had croquette and stuffed mushrooms as appetizers. They were good. For my main course, I had the mahi mahi varadero and it was really good. It came with crab and Spanish rice, and was breaded with crispy plantains. It was good, although I generally don't like Spanish rice. HOWEVER, if I had to recommend a dish, it would be the mahi-mahi cayo-Hueso. It was marinated with citrus flavors and it was divine. Now I don't know who in our party ordered the fries, but they were amazing and felt as good as home fries. Now to the dessert, we ordered almost one of each and it was some of the best dessert I have had in my life -not too sweet, made well, and with real ingredients. I would have ordered my own cafe con leche but it was too late for me in the day but man did I wish I could have had my own cup instead os stolen sips. A record would not be complete without aknowledging the staff. Our waiter was Alfredo and he was such a nice, sweet, and accommodating waiter. He was also patient with such a large party. Thank you, Alfredo!

Skipped the sit-down cafeteria side and grabbed the counter seating instead, which had a fun bar-style setup. Plenty of coffee for the price, though the red plastic cup was a letdown compared to a proper mug. Food came out in under five minutes, which is impressive for how good it was. I got the Milanesa -- a breaded steak in red sauce -- with yellow rice and black beans on the side, and it was excellent for the price. My wife had the Ropa Vieja with yucca and Moros rice, and it didn't disappoint: tender, soft beef with rich tomato sauce and just a hint of olive coming through. We also added a side of tostones with their garlic sauce, which were absolutely delicious. For a quick stop before the mall, this exceeded expectations -- great flavor, fast service, and solid prices. Would go back even without the mall as an excuse.

My wife should have added 'bring them together' but she didn't and the server didn't bother to ask so the empanadas came out and everything else came out 15 minutes later. My wife had a cocktail and the bill was $60.20. Issues to fix: 1)I ordered a Coca Cola, $4.00 and in 92 degree weather it melts in 5 minutes. We were there for an hour and not one time did she ask if I'd like a refill. 2)When she made the 1905 table side she literally 'dropped' a handful of salad ON THE FLOOR between my wife's and my seat......she kind of chuckled, gave us our salads and walked away. She literally left the SALAD ON THE FLOOR THE ENTIRE MEAL! During the course of our meal probably 20 employees walked by and never bothered to pick it up. That in itself was the epitome of laziness and complete lack of respect to the customer.
