It was 5pm on a slow Monday so we were seated right away. The interior is cozy, quiet, and clean. We started with 3 Mixed Appetizers along with their complimentary warm bread. The 3 dips were all solid but nothing out of the ordinary. Good flavor, smooth & creamy texture, and great for sharing. I love ordering dishes like the Mixed Kebab Platter for Two as we get a taste of everything and it's family-style. The presentation was beautiful, the meats were tender, and I like that they paired it with rice, bulgur, and some salad. All the meats were tender and well-seasoned but could've been hotter in temperature. I particularly enjoyed the chicken & lamb adana kebabs. My other minor complaint was the sides were not enough to share and the ratio compared to the meats was off. We definitely could've used more rice with the meats. The staff were super kind & friendly the entire time. Decent try overall!

The only thing is, as Turkish people, we would have liked the portion to be a little bigger The ambiance is cool, but the servers forgot a few times to bring us water. It's a mom & pop shop so nothing super fancy, but well-kept. 2. Food (4/5) Babagannoush (APP, 5/5) - TAKE. MY. MONEY! Man I love me some good baba and this was exceptional. Velvety with great mouth feel and lovely smokiness this was so good w/ their table bread Turkish Ravioli (Manti) (APP, 3/5) - Chewy little nuggets w. yogurt filling, it was pretty enjoyable though my colleague gave ma "Meh" since she makes them at home and probably has high bar. It was good for maybe the first 3 or 4, so perhaps better ordered for larger groups. Shepherd Salad (APP, 4/5) - Fresh, bright(as in vinegar), and herbaceous, we added feta cheese to it and it was perfect balance to our entree. Kofte Kebab (MAIN, 4/5) - Not too dry with packed flavor of all the herbs & beef, I really enjoyed my dish. Went great with all the other accouterments such as slightly cinged wedge of tomato and onion slices, all frolicking on a bed of warm rice that had a nice bite. Adana Kebap (MAIN, 4/5) - My colleague had this one, and I tried a piece. It was juicy and had no hint of gaminess which is always a plus for lamb. 3. Service (3/5) - This being a mom & pop store, I think they're short on staff. Usually they're all in the back cooking, so you do need to be a bit patient to flag someone down. But I'm sure they're more attentive during busy hours. (We went during weekday) Overall, Hakki Baba is a solid turkish mom & pop shop that delivers on great authentic flavor at a reasonable price. In the sea of turkish restaurants in Cliffside Park area, this one is one of my favorite. Pay them a visit!

I didn't expect to find this Halal Guys location today. It is in a busy strip mall, Linwood Plaza…read more I'm used to getting Halal Guys at the cart or their 14th street location so I figured this would be no different. Almost. This store had additional items, plus a few ad-ons available with the platters. I stuck with my usual order, a small chicken platter. Everything was normal, rice, chicken, salad, pita, sauce. They do have the option of adding onions, and peppers which I don't think the cart has. I'm used to reaching the front of the cart line and proclaiming 'small chicken please!'. So walking in looking at their modern menu had me a bit flummoxed. The woman putting my plate together probably sensed my confusion/discomfort and walked me through the process. In addition to the chicken, lamb and falafel meals, wings are also an option. They have a couple dessert items, along with lemonades and fountain drinks. The store itself looked clean and I chose to eat at one of the tables. While no one else was sitting in store with me, many people were in and out for pick-ups and deliveries. I'm glad I found this gem and will add it to places I'd visit again

Unfortunately it isn't an exact replica of the OG cart on 53rd street, but it does the job if you can look past that. It's also a few dollars more and has smaller portions. My go-to order is a mixed chicken and beef platter with rice, lettuce, tomato, pita bread, and lots of white sauce. I like mine drenched in sauce, call me a sicko... If you're in the mood for something sweet, get the baklava! The employees are always friendly, polite, and very generous with the portions. Shout out to Mohammed (sorry for any incorrect spelling)! Took about 10 minutes to make my food. Ambience: some people had lunch inside. The place isn't big, but there was plenty of space. It looks like you may get more food when dinning in. What I liked: the rice. It was well flavored and perfectly cooked. What I liked less: the gyro meat. It tasted like it was mixed with stuff, probably gluten. The salad was also on the plain side although I liked that they shredded some pickles into it. Overall, not bad but if I come back I will probably try something else of the menu.
