After a local "computer doctor" spent 24 hours, charged WAY to much money, and didn't fix anything, I went into Mr. Fix and in 15 minutes, they had my "new" refurbished Mac totally working with my 500 Gig hard drive transferred from my old computer and they didn't charge me (I left my old computer with them and they honestly said they would swap my old keyboard with a new one and sell it). These guys are awesome! I took in my iPhone 6s Plus. As you can see from the pictures, it was rough. They told me it won first place for the worst phone they had ever seen. Congrats to me. The phone had fallen out of my pocket on 29 and was there for at least 25 minutes. I hadn't backed my phone up in over 2 years. They were able to swap out the screen, power up the phone, and help me back it all up to my lap top. They saved me!! Extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They were also able to help me with my new phone (iPhone 6 plus) which was having issues. Chose Mr Fix Due to the great reviews and price point. It's on the downtown mall so heads up. Park in the deck because it's directly below - convenient in that aspect! Parking is free up to an hour. I'm docking a star because I had to go back multiple times to get my iPhone fully repaired. I do wish they'd call, email or text when your device is ready for pick up. I also wish they'd double check that it's in working order before notifying customer that it's ready. Not everyone lives near downtown and is kidless. Time is money. I'm definitely going to give them another shot, but know if you're leaving your device with them to encourage a notification once repaired and ready. *Management has touched base with me and I do appreciate their willingness to take critique and ensure staff touches base with customers. We had such a positive experience with this business. My son didn't realize his cellphone fell out of his pocket at the gym and he dropped a weight down on it, crushing it to the point that it wouldn't work. Verizon overnighted a new phone, but neither my son, Verizon, nor Apple could get the data from the crushed phone to transfer to the new one. Mr. Fix spent nearly 5 hours helping him access the data on the broken phone...they were able to put a temporary screen on it and get it to work for the purpose of transferring the data. They charged him a very minimal amount. I am so grateful they were knowledgeable and willing to spend the time to help him because he would have lost two years of phone data like pictures from trips. Brought my phone here to get my screen fixed. I decided to buy a new battery because I was there. This service cost me over $200 and that was fine with me as long as my worked. Within 24 hrs I already noticed something was wrong with the camera. I brought it back and they fixed the issue, or so I thought. The next month, my phone intermittently was turning off and on for hrs at a time. They said if I sent it to them they would fix it for me. I got my phone back from them "fixing it" and the issue was still there. I decided to bring it to another shop to see if they could fix it. At this new shop I had to pay almost $150 to have them fix what Mr. Fix did to my phone. The new shop told me Mr. Fix messed up my motherboard and I had to get a replacement. Finally my phone was fixed but I'm out about $350 because Mr. fix my phone, they broke it. Do not bring your phone here to be fixed. read more

If I could give a zero star, I would. I know for many, including me, this is unexpected. In the past I experienced excellent and super quick service in Charlottesville. Not this time. I took my Dell laptop to Charlottesville Mr.Fix. The charger port needs to be replaced. I had accidentally shattered my cell phone screen and this was the only place nearby (still a significant drive) that could repair it. They had to order the part, so I expected them to call me when it came in. They didn't. Even when I finally got down there for them to fix it, the screen was glued on funny. I didn't think too much of it because it wasn't going to look brand new. But after a couple of days, the back started to come unglued. And after more time it's only gotten worse, now even affecting the battery ability. This repair was too expensive for my phone to just fall apart like this. Garbage. read more

Do not purchase the Cellhelmet warranty or have your device screen fixed by this shop. I had a screen repair done July 25th and three days later the screen cracked again in my hand without any impact or damage. I had to take it back for a repair but they claimed I wasn't covered by their 30-day guarantee since there was a crack in the screen. Their worker Patrick told me I had to use my warranty claim to cover the repair but had failed to give me the means to activate my warranty upon purchase so I was swindled into paying for another one that I was unable to be reimbursed for due to a false explanation of the warranty terms. These guys were friendly and helpful. I had a water damaged iPhone 6 that couldn't turn on or charge, and I brought it in for a free diagnostic. They tried switching the battery with a new one to see if that would fix it. Within an hour, they got back to me; it didn't work, so they assumed the damage was more extensive. After I took my phone back, though, I saw that the screen was on. My phone wouldn't charge unless you stood the phone upside down, twisted the cord into an inverted figure of 8 knot while hopping up and down on one leg singing Yankee Doodle Dandy. It was pretty frustrating, and this had been going on for months. Hours of google searching yielded no help. Enter Alex. I passed by Mr. Fix walking down the mall. I figured it was worth a shot before jumping into the snake pit that is the version store or the apple store. In a minute Alex identified the problem, in 15 minutes he'd opened up the phone, replaced the faulty part, and put it back together better than new. I chose Mr Fix to replace a cracked screen on my iPad due to the positive reviews here. Unfortunately my experience was extremely frustrating and drawn out. In mid-December, I brought in a perfectly working high-end iPad 5 (cellar connection and 128GB storage) and when it was returned to me via mail five days later, the screen which had a minor crack was replaced, but the iPad would not charge past 4% and the touch button worked only sometimes. I was appalled that it was returned in this broken state. I returned the iPad (via mail) and when it was returned for the second time, the charging mechanism worked again, but the touch button (which worked perfectly before I took it in) works only sporadically. For the past month, I have asked Mr Fix to refund the $99 I paid along with reimbursing me for shipping costs. My rationale for requesting a refund is that I brought in a perfectly working top-of-the-line iPad and I now have a device with a faulty touch button. I went for nearly five weeks without access to this device. I was told by MrFix customer service rep that they would not provide a refund, but that they would buy the iPad from me. After I refused their offer of $80, they offered $150. I was perplexed that they could not provide a $99 refund for breaking my iPad, but they were wiling to pay $150 to buy it. According to a google search, my iPad, refurbished, will sell for between $250 (eBay) and $400 (apple). At this point, I was done with Mr Fix. I refused their offer and purchased a new iPad on sale at Costco. Adding to my frustration with this entire experience, several days after I received my iPad from MrFix for the second time, one corner of the "new" screen shattered when the iPad was dropped no more than a few inches onto a wooden table. I was told that that was my fault. I have owned two iPads over the past ten and the only time I had a glass break was when it was dropped over a stair rail ten feet onto a tile floor. read more

A bad experience. I waited an hour for a repair just to be told it would take over a week. He told me after an hour that he wanted to work on other jobs that came in AFTER me and that he would work on mine whenever he had free time. So much for first come first serve. He said he would call me with an update since I need my iPad for my job, but he never called me. I finally called him and he said I would need to come down again to make a deposit, knowing it was a 1 hour round trip drive for me. He refused to take a credit card number over the phone for the deposit and it was negligent not to give me an opportunity to make a deposit before leaving the first time I came there. They are unequipped to deal with desktop computers. They did not have a working hdmi monitor in a computer repair store, nor do they have a video card to use to test if there is a problem in a machine. Not sure how you can run a computer repair shop without computer parts.. read more

The only reason I've given one star, is because I can't write a review without it. I was with someone when they bought an iPad cover, and was told if it didn't fit the iPad they could bring it back. We went back the next week, with the receipt, to return it for any exchange or refund. The clerk working at the time, was working on a cell phone and would not even look at the person or the receipt, but said he would not exchange or give a refund. Needless to say the conversation became heated. I never spoke a word, I was calm the whole time. With emotions running high, we walked out the store, leaving the iPad cover on the counter. After a few minutes, I went back in and asked for the cover, the clerk said we couldn't have it back and took it off the counter. So we had to leave the cover plus out the cost of it.
