Randal is an excellent Master Plumber. He knows what he is doing, explains things patiently, and when on the phone or at your home, is respectful. But a great plumber is only good if you can get a response from them. I've been dealing with him for several years now. Consistently I've had to message repeatedly, call repeatedly. On occasion - as the first time I contacted him probably in 2023 - he answers the phone himself, and provides info on what he thinks the problem is. And he does phenomenal work. After a few years of being a good customer, patient, paying on time, never objecting to pricing, I **STILL** cannot get a response from him. One issue is that he's a one man show. It's him, or no one. His wife is lovely and accompanies him at times. Very knowledgeable herself. About 4 weeks ago I initiated contact and he responded immediately via text. Great, I thought. Then nothing. After a few more messages checking in, he said there was a family medical situation. I gave him space, and here we are two weeks and yet another text message to him later, and nothing. Nada. And still a leaking well tank. C'mon. Do better. We are done, hope you sort yourself out with other customers - I've seen several other people have had the same experience. read more

We were notified by the water company that we had a leak in our water supply between our house and the water main. It seemed like we were facing a complicated repair that would require extensive trenching and going through walls as well as a concrete floor. Randall from Jefferson Plumbing offered a trenchless replacement option that worked like a miracle. He installed a new line where the existing pipe had been with minimal disruption inside our house and outside by the meter. He was a consummate professional, explaining all our options as well as how his trenchless process worked from start to finish. He did the work quickly - basically in a day and a half. Pros: I reached out to multiple plumbers and Randal was the quickest to respond. Cons: Unfortunately, it went downhill after that. He was not responsive after our initial interaction. It took hours for him to respond to my texts about appointment details. He did partially schedule a service appointment for me for a specific day of the week, but never told me what time or time frame he was coming and never asked for my address. Giving the benefit of the doubt and busy schedules, I called and left a voicemail at 7:30a this morning to discuss details, arrival time and to provide my address prior to my "appointment" tomorrow. It is now 5:20p and I have not heard from him. He did not do any work for me. I was looking forward to working with him as he had previous good reviews. read more

I reached out to Jefferson Plumbing through Yelp. Randal responded right away. I asked him about installing a soda ash system where I live. He responded with irrelevant information about water pH, so I repeated my request. "Can you install a soda ash system where I live?" He said, "Our water consultations are $129 and that covers an onsite visit as well as water testing." So, we set up a date and time and he was here right on time. When he got here, he asked to look at my water. I said, "Why?" He said, "To do the water quality testing." I said, "If that is why you are here, we have totally wasted each other's time because I am not interested in a water quality test. I am interested in having my soda ash system installed." He said, "Okay, let's take a look." So, he went downstairs and spent about half an hour looking at the parts to the system, my pipes, and talking in plumber-ese. He told me my system was inadequate but if that's what I wanted, he could install it for $2300 or I could go with his recommendation for $4,200. He said he couldn't install the system that day because it would take half a day and he hadn't planned for that. I was so Pi**ed off that I decided to just do it myself. So, after he left, I watched an 11 minute Youtube video on how to put together the pump and completed that part in 30 minutes. Then I watched a 6 minute video on how to tie it into the plumbing system. I had to go to Lowes for the sharkbite coupling, but that took another 20 minutes. Long story short, the communication was really bad. I felt like I was being mansplained to the whole time as a tactic to make me think I was in over my head. He didn't respond to my questions. He tried to take control of the conversation and lead it where he wanted it to go. If he was sincere about service, he really could have just installed the soda ash system in the 30 minutes that he was there instead of standing around looking at my pipes. If I, a complete novice, could do that in 50 minutes, a professional could have had it done in half the time easily. And if he couldn't, then he's not a professional. And by the way, the system that I have works just fine. read more

I recently purchased a home and the home inspector recommended addressing a concerning looking main supply line. I reached out to Randal for a replacement quote with a picture, and at 10pm at night, he promptly provided me a detailed description of the piping, and explained that he had in fact been the one to conduct the work on this piping years in the past (I assume he remembered the job simply from the picture??). The supply line is not a concern, and the fitting in question was actually a runoff drain line that was not under pressure. Had a problem with a leaky water heater. We spoke on the phone, and per his request, I sent detailed photos of the problem so the correct parts could be brought. He showed up, evaluated the problem, and turned out what I sent pictures of wasn't the problem. Rescheduled for next day. Repaired what we thought was the problem, but said if the repair didn't fix the issue, to call him back and he would apply the cost of the first repair to the replacement of the water heater. As it turned out, what he repaired didn't fix the problem so I called and left a message. No response. I called again and left a message. My call was returned, and I explained the repair didn't take, and I now wanted to replace the water heater. He apologized for not getting back to me sooner, and said of course he'd take care of replacing the heater - the very next day!! He recommended a water heater which was exactly what was I looking for, and showed up the next day as promised and replaced the water heater. Customer service is all too rare these days, but Randal did what he said he would do, and stood behind his work and his word. Highly recommended! read more

We had (what turned out to be) a massive leak in our outside water pipe and Randall was able to come out the same day we called (where other companies in town gave us a 2 week waiting period). He and his very professional team were able to quickly find the leak and fix the problem. They also worked smartly and diligently, so our family would not have to go without water over night (and avoid unnecessary hotel costs). I was impressed with the level of integrity he had in his leadership with his young staff (whom I felt very safe in having in my home) as well as his integrity in his billing. He originally quoted us a price for the project and the final work was slightly different than what was originally discussed. He immediately altered our final bill which fairly reflected the work done. There was a sense that he had pride in his work and was not trying to "get" money from us- but wanted to work with us to find the best solution to our problem. Called Randal with an emergency Sunday afternoon. Our exterior faucet had broke and wouldn't stop leaking water. He called back in 5 minutes and was here within the hour. I have no pricing comparison, but he was very detailed and took time to explain everything he was doing and why he was doing it. He was upfront with pricing and when I mentioned other small things around the house, like occasional toilet drips and sink clogs, he explained to us how to fix them and we succeeded on the spot. What speaks the most to his service is that after he left he sent me a product he had found on Amazon, which would save me a trip to a hardware store. That's good customer service there.
