This review is for the Pittsburgh North location, 5503 Babcock Blvd. In terms of quality, the service is okay. I have used Jerry's Car Wash--Northway for years until Mr Magic bought them. The difference in the drying quality is noticeable. The young people who used to towel dry the car were outstanding. The current blowers can't light a candle to the hand drying. The car often leaves with water spots on the windows and body. It used to be fun going to the wash. The young people made all the difference--peppy, friendly, and charming providing a "feel good" experience. Now it feels like you are going to a ATM. Most of the young people that used to work at Northway left, saying that it wasn't fun anymore. Some had been employees for years. One ex-employee said that the atmosphere had changed completely and that's why she was quitting. It is not surprising that they have a Help Wanted sign in front.
Of more concern is the total lack of customer service. I have been trying to get in touch with Mr Magic through their website. I have tried for over 3 weeks and I never get a response. I have been a customer for years, using automatic payments from my bank for the Unlimited Wash Club, Magic Shine Wash. On June 28, I went to the facility and was told that my "plan" had expired and that I needed to pay again. I did and went home to check my bank statements. I was charged $40 on June 22. So maybe Mr Magic was not receiving the automatic payment. I asked them and I also enquired as to why my current code on my windshied was declined. No answer. I asked for a refund for the June 28 payment if they were receiving the bank payment. No answer. Before going to the bank or credit card company, I asked for their assistance to avoid making a simple situation complicated No answer. These are not difficult questions if you care about your customers. I have given them all the information they would need to solve my issue. This information is going into a black hole--no one is home or if they are, they don't care enough. I had to go to my bank to ask them exactly who is getting my automatic payments. On the statement, it is listed as Northway. In sum, for June, I paid $80.65 and the only person that is conerned is me.
The facility is close to my residence so it is convenient. I used to take my dog because the young people made a big fuss over her. I don't take her anymore. I will see how this current concern resolves and then I will decide whether to continue with Mr Magic. It's supposed to be a helpful event, not a hassle.
