Carlos, Mike, and Mr. Phix SAVED me from the looney bin! I have a 27"iMac that another authorized repair (Geek Squad, who sent it to Apple under my Apple Care+ plan) couldn't repair properly. Although Apple had replaced the fusion drive, Geek Squad couldn't seem to make it work - after over a month back and forth back with Apple again. I took it into Mr Phix on a 4/14/23 after Geek Squad gave up. They said the machine didn't need additional repairs, just my backup drive. Wow! How lucky are we to have Mr. Fixx in Wilmington? I brought my iPad in because the recharger input broke. The gentleman who helped me could've been nicer. I asked him how long it would take and he said 15 minutes. I came back a couple hours later and not only had they fixed it, but they recharged it. I remember when I brought it in. It was at 13%. What a nice surprise to come home and have it fully charged and ready to go. They have plenty of staff. When I came to pick up my iPad the original gentleman was there and he had three other people behind the counter. No one was waiting. They have a bench where you can wait. On the bench they have all kinds of little puzzle type gizmos you can play with in case you feel like waiting. There's absolutely no downside to this business. They're friendly, they're funny, efficient, and they do good work. You'd be crazy to go anywhere else. read more

We called ahead to confirm and reserve a screen for my phone. We got there. They got down to work in no time. We didn't wait very long before they replaced the screen and put a protector on it. Price is cheaper than what you would pay in an Apple store. I was a little hesitant at first because they are not "Apple," but I learned that they are Apple Certified. This place is what our country is built on. A person's dream, hard work and dedication. There was a vision and that vision is now a reality. This man has worked to build a product he should be very proud of. I dropped my phone off and when I came back there was an elderly gent asking questions. The owner politely asked if he could finish his call to give his undivided attention, but it fell on deaf ears. He didn't get frustrated, he maintained focus, and his employee idled by in an attempt to assist. They answered every question and made the man feel important. "Mr. Phix" computer repair on College Road in Wilmington has been excellent in meeting our family computing needs. They have been our go-to computer repair store for several years. They have fixed our desktop computers, our laptops & tablets, and our i-phones. They have always made repairs to my full satisfaction and the pricing is usually reasonable. My last visit was to upgrade my 4 year old laptop. It had slowed quite a bit so they suggested increasing the memory and installing a solid state drive. It wasn't cheap but it was significantly better than buying a new laptop. I couldn't believe the difference in the way in now performs. I am very satisfied. The Mr. Phix here is available for service 7 days a week and actually have an emergency call number for after hours. Who does that ! My only negative is getting into and out of their parking lot during high traffic times. However, I still rate them 5 Stars***** in my book. read more

I called this business two days ago to get a quote on an iPad battery replacement. They were very professional and precise about the procedure. Next day walked in no appointment, again went over the procedure and said it should be ready in a few hours. They still have my dead laptop. It went like this: 1. First visit. gave laptop, explained problem, agreed price. 2. Call to follow up. Got explanation of what is wrong with laptop, who may have fixed it last, what new tools he would have to buy in order to fix it, if that would fix it or not, how fixing it may not solve the whole problem, etc. I offered to just take it back and off his hands. "Oh no" was the reply, he is treating this as a challenge and will fix it to prove he can. "OK" I said. Silly me. 3. Two weeks later. "Is it fixed?" Reply: "Oh, not yet, I was waiting for your call if I should go ahead and fix it and the motherboard". My reply "Well, I can just pick it up and maybe move on". His reply "Oh, no I can do this, I know what tool I need to fix now". 4. I made another follow up call - a little over a month after I left it - but eventually I just wore out. No closure, no resolution. I gave this business every possible chance. 5. In all 5 contacts over two months I made to this business - including offering the owner 3 times to take back the laptop and part amicably, I had to make the call to the business. With each offer, I was assured by the owner of his ability to complete the job, yet it never was completed. Wish I had a better account than this, but this is exactly the experience I had. read more

This individual is *extremely* dishonest. Do not send this guy money until he fixes your device. There is a BBB CASE#: 15055013 registered with this "business entity" out of Myrtle Beach. I would suggest reading it prior to choosing other options for computer repair out of Wilmington, NC. It goes as follows: Business owner took my deposit money and will not send back my laptop that he cannot repair. I initially reached out to Mr. Ted Glackin to repair a nonfunctional MacBook Pro Retina screen. I found his company's information on Google Search and enlisted it for this repair. This individual has continually, since, gave false and misleading information regarding three primary issues: 1) his ability to repair this laptop screen 2) his receipt of payment of deposit via his website (PayPal) payment 3) his unwillingness to return the laptop via a present label sent to him at his instruction This activity began at the end of July 2018. I sent a MacBook Pro Retina to his company for repair of a nonfunctional screen. He stated that he could take care of the issue and that I could send it to him from my work. He indicated this would not be a problem. In an email chain, he instructed me to send the label photo showing it had been sent and was on its way, which I kindly did. On 11 August, 2018 he sent an email stating he had received the laptop and would begin work, asking for my contact number. At the time I was on leave in South Africa and only had use of my WhatsApp number which I sent to him in an email as well as my Skype number. On 13 August, 2018 he sent a reply stating that it was not a problem about the phone numbers but he would need a deposit and would send an email the next day with a quote for the screen as there may be more than just screen damage. On 13 August, 2018 I responded in an email to him that I would wait until I hear if something else was wrong with the laptop other than the screen. From that date until 28 August 2018 I heard nothing from this individual or any representatives from his company. On 28 August 2018 I contacted them via telephone and asked about the screen replacement and what was the status. The representative from his company informed me that they would need a deposit on the repairs prior to beginning work. On 29 August, 2018 I made a payment via PayPal through the https://www.mrphix.com website via a connection node at the bottom left of the screen under the "your account" section. From that date until 01 October 2018 I had no communication with this individual (Ted Glackin) nor from anyone else representing his company. On 01 October 2018, I made a telephone call to the Mr. Phix company. After calling to ask about the status of this Laptop repair I was placed on hold for over 15 minutes. At this point I hung up and tried calling back. At this point after being told I would be placed on hold, the phone was simply hung up on me. I tried calling both business numbers and the 800 number. I either got a voicemail or and error phone message. After reaching someone I explained that I had paid a deposit over one month prior and had heard nothing from this company. Mr. Glackin insisted his company did NOT take payments through the website. He insisted that the email associated with that paypal account (tedglackin@hotmail.com) was an old account and that my payment was never made and he never asked for it to be paid through the website. I then proceeded to write an email explaining that these events had taken place, I had paid a deposit and had been hung up on during a phone call. I explained that I felt defrauded of the deposit and I wanted my laptop sent back. On 5 October, 2018 an email reply stated that if I sent a shipping label he would "gladly" send the "unopened" package back. On 6 October, 2018 I sent a prepaid ship label to him dated for 8 October. On 9 October I made a phone call and spoke with "Conner" and was placed on the phone with Ted Glackin. Mr. Glackin stated he would send the package out that same day. This did not happen. On 10 October 2018 at 8:20am I sent an email regarding the status of the laptop being shipped. There was no reply. On 10 October 2018 at 15:52pm I sent an email regarding the status of the laptop being shipped --- In a nutshell, the computer was eventually returned ... after I had to file a claim against the company. Also, the money was refunded - which indicates that - *someone* at "tedglackin@hotmail.com" - which is the PayPal account associated with the business website - is capable of doing so. Shady ... phone screen broke and almost $300 dollars later (plus tip) it was fixed for a few days then the screen started going black for extended periods of time in and out for a few weeks. I cant do anything when the screen was black besides use voice activation to get Siri... I Went to have it replaced again and was told it shouldn't happen again but a few days later screen went black again and this time for 45 mins or more . I called and talked to someone (I think Ted) who told me it was a mother board issue and they could ship my phone out for 2 weeks ... don't love that option so I asked for a refund since at this point my phone will just not work for periods of time and I have no clue when this will happen... he said I could get a full refund. I couldn't go in that day but went in a few days later to get my refund and they told me they couldn't provide a refund even after telling me they would . I wish I had just gotten a new phone when my screen broke because now I'm out $300 and still need a new phone ... biggest Issue is them fixing for the second time and acting like they were suprised something like that was happening But then suddenly it's a mother board issue ? Also frustrating I was told I could get a refund then having them take it back... could have saved a third trip if they didn't lie over the phone read more

Yesterday, I took my iPhone 8 to this establishment and was told my touch screen was the culprit of my phone spazzing. I was informed that the screen needed replacing. I explained to the CSR that I had my phone for approximately 3-4 months and had dropped it about a month ago. I took it to the local mall and had it replaced and thereafter it seemed okay up until a couple of weeks ago. Hence the reason, I was at their location trying to get answers about it spazzing again. I was told that the issue was the touch screen and they would replace it with an Apple screen. Well, needless to say, upon picking up the phone I learned from the supposed owner that the screen was not an Apple product and that they are only Apple certified. I was taken aback because there was no way, if I had been given the truth initially, I would have NEVER allowed them to put another non Apple screen on my phone. I had already spent over 100 bucks at the mall and had not pleasure in spending 129.00 bucks on another fake screen. I am confident I will experience another hiccup with my touch screen. Although this is a small business, which I try to support, I have no plans to recommend them to any of my circle of influence. I took my HP Desktop computer in because I could not boot up the unit. I was told that they would conduct a free inspection and call me with an estimate. They called me the next day, "A Sunday" and informed me that the problem was minor and I could come pick up my computer. I said that "I thought you were going to call with an estimate.
