Yesterday, I took my iPhone 8 to this establishment and was told my touch screen was the culprit of my phone spazzing. I was informed that the screen needed replacing. I explained to the CSR that I had my phone for approximately 3-4 months and had dropped it about a month ago. I took it to the local mall and had it replaced and thereafter it seemed okay up until a couple of weeks ago. Hence the reason, I was at their location trying to get answers about it spazzing again. I was told that the issue was the touch screen and they would replace it with an Apple screen. Well, needless to say, upon picking up the phone I learned from the supposed owner that the screen was not an Apple product and that they are only Apple certified. I was taken aback because there was no way, if I had been given the truth initially, I would have NEVER allowed them to put another non Apple screen on my phone. I had already spent over 100 bucks at the mall and had not pleasure in spending 129.00 bucks on another fake screen. I am confident I will experience another hiccup with my touch screen. Although this is a small business, which I try to support, I have no plans to recommend them to any of my circle of influence. Went in yesterday with my completely destroyed screen on my iPhone. I wasn't even sure it could be fixed because I was questioning some of the cables/connectors inside the phone that got ruined as well. But after reading the reviews, I made an appt and went in. Initial contact via e-mail as to cost of iPad screen repair was responded to quickly. 30 minutes and $155. Dropped off the iPad (Monday afternoon) - complications. Repair needs 24 hours for glue to set. OK - I'll be back the following day (Tuesday at noon). Tuesday - 24 hours later walked into the shop. Repair had not even been started. As I was at a conference - decision point was whether they could complete the repair that day - or abort. They promised a 5:00pm pick up (it was noon at the time). OK to proceed. On the way back to my conference - got a call from them - they did not have the right screen (black) in stock - only white. OK - parts ordering? Earliest would be Thursday (I would be long gone by then). Only downside was the button on the iPad would be black (not white). OK to proceed. Picked up the iPad successfully. My daughter's iPhone 4s screen cracked the final week of the semester and after picking her up we were going to visit my mother-in-law in Wilmington. I Googled for iphone repair in Wilmington and Mr Phix came up. I contacted them and within 30 mins had an answer from Ted with the pricing and to let him know when we would be able to stop by. We ended up getting into Wilmington late in the day and Ted even offered to stay open late if needed. We got to his very nice office location near Mayfair and within 30 mins my daughter had a new screen. They tested everything out to make sure it looked like she just needed a new screen. When we returned they let me know that the button tabs were broken so they replaced it at no charge, along with a new gasket for the button. Super responsive service and a great crew! I had a complete reconstruction back last August 2018. It worked well but things were still broken from water damage. I've dealt with it bc I was happy just to have a working phone again. I took it back this August with a new insurance claim and ask them to fix somethings that were broken (gps, Bluetooth, speaker, cracked screen) all not super important fixes. I never complained how they weren't fixed the first time. They sent my phone to Texas for "5 days" two weeks later they had my phone back. They were unable to fix any of it. Still not complaining since I don't know much about cell phone just assuming they did all they could. They were suppose to fix my screen when they got it back from Texas. I was handed it back completely same condition that they dropped it off. Now every time I go in there, there's a different group of workers. I politely went back inside and asked if they would be able to fix my screen today (even though they had told me on the phone a few days earlier they would). I wasn't upset, just comes with dealing with businesses that have a lot of employees. Why they are getting one star is bc in person I asked for the receipt/ payment invoice so I could send it to my insurance for the claim I filed. Never got one. Emailed them never got one. Emailed the owner never got one. I don't care you couldn't fix my phone (well kinda), just send me my receipt so I can get my money back from insurance! It been months btw read more

The second week of March 2014 I dropped my phone off at Mr. Phix. Ted (the owner) assured me that my mind could rest easy knowing he could help me with my phone as I was moving out of town and it could be easily shipped to me once the issue was resolved. ONE month later I hear from him stating the problem is bigger than he or I thought and he would have to outsource the phone to a guy in California but he was oh so grateful that my problem found him a new useful business contact. Another month goes by. No updates. Another month goes by. No updates. I finally call and get a hold of him through text message. (Clearly email is too professional for him) He tells me that the whole motherboard has to be replaced and it will cost close to what I paid for it in the first place just to fix it. He asks if I would like to spend the money or sell it off for parts. Clearly I told him sell it off for parts. Another month goes by. No updates. This time I text him again asking about the status of the phone. He said he was waiting to hear from me before he went ahead and sold the phone or if I really did want to fix it. I said sell it. Another month goes by. Nothing. Another month goes by. Nothing. This time I text him saying just send me the phone as is. If he didn't do anything to fix it and hasn't sold it just return my property to me as I gave it to him. He says he can't do that. Clearly I am a patient person but this was the last straw. I told him that I wanted my property back and if I didn't get it I was going to find a lawyer and I told him that my displeasure would be plastered over every site that has a review on his company. This is apparently the only way I could get a phone call from Ted. Thus ensues a phone call with the OWNER of the company yelling at me because I threatened his online reputation. He said he tried to sell it and no one wanted it. I said great because I just asked you to return it to me and you're saying you can't. I told him I couldn't believe I was having such an UNPROFESSIONAL conversation with an owner of a company. After almost an hour of conversation with him he promised to make reparations for my issues. He admitted that he had switched offices and I got lost in the shuffle. He said he would make it up to me by replacing my phone. Quite frankly I was satisfied by this. After six months of waiting for SOMETHING at least this time he was going to do something for me if he wasn't going to return the phone he sent to California. Here enters Darryl. The new manager. He promises that he'll make me happy and that I should only deal with him. He's been tasked with taking care of the existing issues. He tells me they're just waiting on a new screen for the phone and it will be ready to ship off. Great. A week later. Now he's waiting on the Lifeproof Nuud case that Ted managed to lose that I sent in with the phone. Okay. A week later. Now some wire they're waiting on is stuck in customs. Darryl asks how he can make it better. Can they just send me money for the phone? I said truthfully I just want a working phone that was promised to me. A day later I hear from Darryl stating they just went ahead and bought me a new phone outright and they were just going to ship it out at the end of the week. Awesome. Last night I finally received my new phone. Yay! Insert SIM card. Doesn't stay in. Doesn't read sim card on phone. I called Darryl this morning. I told him about the issue. He states that is impossible he put his own personal sim card in and it worked before shipping. I said what do I do? He says take it to Verizon because maybe something happened in the shipping. Enter Verizon. They can't help. In fact, they tell me there's been water damage to the phone because the indicator under the battery is red. It only turns red when it's been exposed to water. I would have to replace the whole phone. I call and tell Darryl. He says he'll call Ted and figure something out. I don't have very good luck hearing back from anyone associated from Mr. Phix. They've told me they're just too busy to initiate phone calls and that we should check in. Great customer service policy. So I call back to be put on the phone with who? Ted. The incredibly professional owner of said service. He states for all intensive purposes the phone was new all the parts were new and the screen was new. He made sure Darryl made a phone call from it before sending due to the sensitive nature of my problem and that what I was saying couldn't POSSIBLY be true. "I bought you a new phone outright" was repeated over and over and over and over and over. He said send the phone back. I said if I do that I want it in writing that you will fix it and it will be in working condition when I get it back. Last time I sent a phone to you I was strung along and LIED to for SEVEN months so forgive me if I don't believe you. So here snaps my patience. You have been warned. Was on vacation, on the sandy beach, with my broken screen iPhone. Had just read an article from my old copy of Fast Company about the CEO of Yelp using the service in NYC to get his phone screen repaired. Wondered if anyone in the area I was in did the same, turned to Yelp, and sure enough Ted and Mr. Fix we're right down the road. Basic Details: He does this out of his house. Another reviewer mentioned this and I'm glad she did as it would normally have sounded peculiar. Ok, it was still somewhat peculiar (but i don't imagine it is worth having a dedicated shop for this as it would be costly vs the margins) however, I gave it a shot. Texted Ted to see if he had the screens and was available to fix my phone on short notice. Sure enough, everything fell into place, we set up a time (he called to associate a voice with his service and not just texts, which was nice). Dropped the phone off on my way to dinner, he called my work phone when it was finished, and I picked it up on the way back to our condo. Perfect. I was having speaker problems with the phone as well, and while he was in the phone he replaced that part too. Great service. Ted had a Square, but I paid in cash anyway, for those wondering about payment options. Well, where do I begin to tell the tale of Mr. Edward Glackin and Growth Web Design operating out of his office at Mr. Phix? My husband and I read the Yelp reviews before calling him and most all of them were quite positive. So we proceeded to hire him on January 25, 2017 to redesign the website for our new company. Since neither of us are very tech savvy, we looked forward to getting some help. We gave him a 50% deposit of $750.00 and that turned our to be the last time we would hear from Mr. Glackin and Growth Web Design. After many weeks with no correspondence, we reached out to Ted with a phone call and numerous texts-all of which would later be made available to the New Hanover Court. When we received neither a website nor our money back, we spoke to an attorney who sent him a letter on March 21, 2017 declaring him in breech of contract and requesting our money back. Again, NO response so we were left with no other choice but to take Mr. Glackin and Growth Web Design to small claims court. He failed to appear in court and we were awarded the full amount plus legal fees and any interest that would accrue each day it was not paid. It is now 2018, 13 months later, and we still have NO MONEY and that amount (with interest) has now swelled to well over $1,000. Mr. Glackin made it very difficult initially to serve him his papers and difficult to find when being visited by the sheriff to collect our court awarded settlement. He gave the sheriff $100.00, and told him to come back at the end of the week for the rest. Of course, that never happened. It is important for me to state that we are among the 25 million Americans living on a fixed income so that thousand dollars is a huge loss to us. We are well aware of the many stories of senior scams but never expected to be part of those sad statistics. So I will close by saying the Mr. "NO PHIX" has now become Mr. "NO PAY" also. I will update this review each month to let everyone know if he has ever paid another dollar back to us. If we can help anyone else out that is thinking of doing business with this man, I urge you to not just walk away....RUN away! read more

After going somewhere else I was less impressed by for an estimate first, I came here to be greeted by incredibly friendly staff that seemed genuinely interested in helping me find the best solution to my problem.
