I love the food here. They serve large portions, it's inexpensive and most of all it's delicious. The food is made fresh. The only thing I don't like is the restaurant is small; there are only about 3 seatings for 4 and 1 for 2. To use the bathroom you need to go to the back which is not to far from the kitchen; In the winter they plug a heater which is in the way of the pathway. Fantastic food and drinks! My only problem with this place is that it has no vegetarian main dishes, so I have to order rice with beans on the side. It's worth it, especially for their green side sauce. I still do it. But anyway, back when I ate meat, I could not get enough of the arroz con pollo, the guisado, and just about everything I tried here. I highly recommend the soursop and passionfruit juices. I grew up in a predominantly Latin-American neighborhood in Brooklyn, and was surrounded by many great local Hispanic eatieries. When I cam up here, I drove, pass this place, and knew I had to stop. It's a hole-in-the-wall, but Mr. Pio Pio has very delicious Latin American food. I have been here a couple times now, and have had great experiences with the food. The meat is always tender and full of flavor. I love that they have fried cassava (yuca). I grew up with cassava, so it brings back memories eating it. Their hot sauce is a perfect blend of heat, and mild. I also love getting the Inca Kola. It's champagne cola, but I've never had this brand. The downside to this place, and the reason for this rating not being any higher, is the service. When dining in the, service is very, very slow. The food takes forever to come out. I don't mind waiting for great food, but the wait here can be annoyingly long. Because of this issue, I thought the better option would be to call and pick the order. Sadly, that was not case. The menu has two numbers, so I tried calling both. The first number kept ringing, so I hung up. The second number seems to be a fax number because that's the sound I heard. I tried calling the first number again several times, and eventually go through. However, the person that picked up told me to hold on while they were taking orders from other customers. This went out for several minutes until they hung up on me. I couldn't believe it. I called back and I told the person my frustration. The person hastily asked for my order and then hung. Did not ask for a name nor a number. While I was driving to the restaurant, I was not confident if they even took my order. Luckily, they did, and I was on my way. When I got home, the food was great as usual, but I was still annoyed how much challenge it was to order the food. Mr. Pio Pio has great food, but the service is pretty spotty. Everytime I enter this establishment the music stops and I am grilled at by everyone in the joint. All I did was walk in and change the soccer game being played in spanish because I wanted to watch southpark. I wasn't allowed to smoke inside which kinda ticked me off but I just stood outside and chain smoked a few smuugeys right before I came back to realize the soccer game was put back on. After I paid tourist "White/Caucasian" set p'rice menu, I was served dog scraps and small portioned versions of what browner faces around me were smiling and eating. All I wanted was some nice ethnic spanish'ish cuisine and I fell extremely not welcomed because I am a gringo. Name one other place I can get fried banana's that go with rice and beans. No where who the hell else makes banana's which are extremely cheap and fries them to perfection and makes me ask myself if I really need a soda with my meal. No one. Next time I am bringing my most spanish freind and getting the hook up and I can fuqing wait to chow down and dine like one of "them". Overall I love it here, honestly the service is freindly as fquat and if you bring a date here she'll be like damn he's mad cultured and shit and like the spanish people fuq with him and he gave some ethnic diverse customer a dap so he's like cultured and shit like Rico from paid in full.
