Growing up, our family used to alternate different Chinese takeout spots in the neighborhood - but the one that was most consistently on our radar was Mr. Q's. While the quality has gone through highs and lows over the years, they have recently been the most consistent spot in the neighborhood - and as such become the sole place I order Chinese from when in the Bronx. At face value, what sets Mr. Q's apart from other Chinese spots in the area is the fact that they offer a full sit-down restaurant in addition to their takeout. The dining room is a decent size and tastefully decorated. Parking can be tough as it's on a busy main road, but I have always eventually found a spot. While the quality of food has been up and down over the years, more recently I feel it's been consistently good. It's not overly greasy, and the ingredients tasted relatively fresh and high quality. The staff is also super friendly, and whenever I order delivery it arrives super fast. Overall, Mr. Q's has held up IMO as being one of the top Chinese food spots in the neighborhood. Whenever I'm in the Bronx craving Chinese, I will always choose here to go. read more

im chinese and grew up eating chinese food every day until i left for college. this is not that chinese food, but i think it might be better. food is tasty, portion is large, price is fair, and service is amazing. seriously, ive had a lot of hot and sour soup in my life but this is the best ive had. if this isnt the peak of chinese american food i dont know what is. read more

I went yesterday to Mr. Q. I've been going there for over 20 years lately. I noticed his price went up high and the quality of food went down. I drove two hours and went there yesterday with my wife and my daughter when I came in the place was completely empty. His wife gave me the menu told me sit where I want. I ordered a piña colada she gave me full of ice cube it was watered down. I asked her nicely and her answer were very arrogant and says we make it how we want to make it. I said OK when I ordered my food, the portion was more and she expected me my wife and my daughter to eat out of the small little plate that they look like they were for a piece of cake at a kids birthday party. I asked her nicely. Can I get bigger plate like dinner plate she yelled at me and told me the plate was clean I answered her. That's not what I asked you. I didn't ask you if they were clean. I asked you can you get me bigger plate? She caught another attitude. I asked her. Why do you have an attitude with me if all I did was come to your restaurant to eat she walked away from me then. Appeared to go back behind the couch and her husband came to serving me. I told him if that's your wife then you have a problem because if she's mad at you, she staying out on your customers and the way I look at it, the only Customer in the restaurant I felt very sad for him but I would not be going to this restaurant ever again as long as he works there the restaurant is going down. I ordered dinner for my family from here after seeing a friend post food pics online. They looked great and she said the food was good. I took the ride to pick up the food myself so as not to have my first experience be based on delivery when anything can happen with a food order. The staff was very nice. I ordered ahead but had to wait a bit for my order. Once received, we set out home. Everything was packed well but unfortunately, the food was not that great. I was looking forward to having a nice Chinese restaurant close to our home so that we had more delivery options but this isn't it. We have other options that are a bit better. The food here is absolutely A-1! I have to say I was caught off guard the first time I ordered from here as I was expecting my typical "Bronx Chinese Spot" experience. I was pleasantly surprised. Their take on the traditional plates I've come to know and love as a native New Yorker is a little more sophisticated. There's a freshness you can taste and the staff are all kind. Wow, this place brought back so much nostalgia for me. I grew up about five minutes away and used to eat here all the time. After moving away it's been a long time since I've been here but when I drove by I knew that I needed to try it and see if it tasted the same and as good as it did when I was younger. I do know that prices have risen a lot over the years but I definitely did not expect three items to cost $40. All I ordered was an order of sesame chicken, boneless spareribs, and pork fried rice. If I had ordered the same thing from the restaurant down the block for me that would've cost about 20. as long as the food is delicious, I don't mind spending a little extra for it. The food was good but wasn't the best. I don't have much complains other than the spare ribs and chicken were a bit too dry for my liking. When you step into Mr. Qi's the restaurant takes you back in time. For me it took me back to the early 90's when we'd go sit down to eat in Chinese restaurants. The back wall is covered in a gold mural type sculpture artwork--it took me there. Also, appreciatively, the gentleman at the register was socialable & wearing as mask. As was the server I saw there as well. TLDR: I got the General Tso's Tofu & it was EVERYTHING! When they put a Szechwan in the food ya know what's up. This is mediocre chinese food even to the point if you order a lunch special or combination meal, the fried rice will probably be the highlight over the meal. I did love this place back in 2003 and 2004, round there when I lived in the Bronx and seemed to frequent this place. Came with a group of 8 for lunch. Overall, location and decor (especially those chairs) are a bit iffy and you'll have to park in the lot across the street but food was excellent. This place also has sushi!! I got the spicy yellowtail roll that came with a beautiful soy sauce butterfly. Sesame seeds sprinkled on top were on point and the sashimi seemed pretty fresh and sushi carefully rolled. I heard they do quality takeout as well.
