Raring 3/5 a very large sandwich great portion size with I think two layers of thin cut veal could of used another layer not typical . However very hard not tender at all most likley overly deep fried, correct preparation is a shallow fry so it dosnt get hard , i found it very hard to bite through the sandwich because how tough the meet was. The second let down was this was definitely not home made tomato sauce very very acidic canned sauce . I ordered the Italian sub before I started driving there and upon arriving ~20 mins later, find that my sub is still being made. It takes me another 15 minutes before I get my sub, which is way too long for a lukewarm sandwich at an off-peak time of day. There was only 1 group of 4 people dining in, also waiting for their food, so no large crowd to explain a huge delay. More importantly, there was no semblance of trying to hurry up by the staff, no acknowledgment of how long I had been waiting. It would have helped if the sub was good. It was mediocre - nothing stood out that made the wait worthwhile. Protein portion size was normal, the bread leans on the thin side, so it was less filling than other subs I've had. I asked for extra lettuce which didn't seem to be done, they forgot my pickle spear, and all in all I got a sub that I could have easily ordered for cheaper & picked up in half the time from my neighbourhood Subway. If anything stood out, it was that I asked for extra sauce and they drowned my sub in it, to the point where it was hard to even hold the sub and it completely masked the flavour of the protein. I've been to a few Firehouse Subs. Why not check this place out! I had no problem finding this eatery. It's in a small plaza. Across from it is a Starbucks, with its drive-thru next door. Nice! I backed into a parking spot a few steps away from the main door. I then headed inside. It's a nicely lit, clean eatery. There were three folks eating in the back right corner of this place. I headed to the order area, which is straight ahead until you reach the back. I got a nice man, Vishwesh, at the order counter. I looked at all the sub varieties. My favourite is the meatball sub at Firehouse Subs. He stepped me through the ordering process, which was helpful and nice. I got my sub on whole wheat bread. I got a pickle spear on the side. I made it a combo by getting a chocolate chunk cookie and a fountain drink. For the drink, you can also go for a bottled drink. Frankly, the fountain drink gives you more bang for your buck. You can do refills. He asked me whether I'd like to round up my total bill to the nearest dollar to support the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. I said yes, as the cause provides funding and equipment to first responders and public safety organizations. I will say that a combo does get expensive here. Mind you, I did have a large sub and this combo came to $22. It's not horrible if you come here once in a while to treat yourself. I wouldn't get it daily! He took my name. I got a cup and hit the fountain drinks machine. The sugar-free lemonade varieties caught my attention. I got the lemon lime lemonade. It was awesome! It had the right amount of sweetness and tartness, without any sugar. I'd get it again. I needed a refill with a quarter of my sub left to devour. I got the peach lemonade. It was okay, but the lemon lime had my heart. I liked adding ice to my drink. The ice cubes kept my drink nice and cold. Another man called my name. He was done putting my sub together. I thanked him and grabbed my tray. I was ready to chow down and found a table to sit down at. I loved my meatball sub. The meatballs were large, flavourful, and a joy to eat. Each meatball had sauce that provided the perfect amount of yumminess and moisture. The melted cheese on top was so good. The bread tied everything together. The pickle spear was juicy and had a nice crunch. I loved it so much that it was gone by the time I had the other half of my sub. I had my chocolate chunk cookie. It had a lot of chocolate chunks. The cookie was chewy, but didn't crumble on you when you ate it. It was yummy. I used the washroom before I left and made tracks home. It's a single stall and the one that I used was nicely maintained. I learned that when a Leafs player scores a hat trick, you can get a medium brisket sub for $5 the day after. The catch is that hat tricks don't happen all the time, so you may be waiting a while to claim this deal. I had a wonderful time here. I'll be back to enjoy a sub when I'm in the area. (418)
