Six people, two grills, and one of the most frustrating dining experiences we've had. We were initially seated with just one grill for six people. I sat at the head of the table but I was sat way too far to comfprtably eat (tables and seating was not moveable). After asking for a larger table, we were moved to a booth with two grills, but that solved very little. One grill would heat up while the other stayed cold, then they'd switch. We let the staff know several times, but the issue was never resolved. Thin cuts like beef tongue and even shrimp were taking over 20 minutes to cook without developing any char. Eventually, both grills stopped working properly altogether. Despite the restaurant being quiet, management didn't offer to move us until we'd already lost our appetites and given up. Our servers were kind, attentive, and genuinely tried to help, but management handled the situation poorly. The only compensation offered was waiving the two-hour dining limit, which didn't help when the grills couldn't cook the food. At one point, we were even gaslight and was told the grill was working fine and even pointed out that our meat was cooked, despite it having sat on the grill for over 15 minutes prior. The few items we managed to cook properly were good quality, which made the experience even more disappointing. We were glad we chose the lunch menu instead of the all-day AYCE. The sushi was underwhelming, with mushy rice and very thin slices of fish. Ironically, the yam tempura ended up being my favorite dish of the meal. To top it off, the gratuity was automatically added to the bill, and not once did management apologize for the experience. Unfortunately, this was enough to ensure we won't ever be returning.

    Mushy rice, ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.

This is going to be a very honest and personal review as I probably just had the worst AYCE BBQ restaurant ever. I wish I was exaggerating but I am really surprised with all the other positive reviews so I hope it was just a one off. I came here with my family to enjoy a meal for 6 and at first they sat us at a table where one guest would be too far from the table to enjoy their meal so we requested a new table. This is where the real horror starts, they gave us a bigger table and everyone sat comfortably with two grills for the group. However, we noticed one grill would barely emit any heat from the grill to cook our food. This problem would change intermittently and then it only stayed on one grill with really low heat. We told the server who then relayed it to the manager who came by to fix the problem. There was terrible communication with the manager and none of us could understand what he was saying (language barrier) and nothing was really done about the problem. We got the sense that they think the heat is normal even though we were cooking shrimp for almost 20 minutes. In the end, one half of the group got to enjoy their meal and the other half sat around waiting for food to slowly warm up which was EXTREMELY disappointing. Nothing against the server, he was great. But management is the problem here and they did NOT know how to handle the situation. Management never even apologized and only GAS LIT us further by saying this is because we wanted a different table. Then they tried to make up for it by offering us extra time to stay beyond the TWO HOURS. That is ridiculous and I would not want to be at a restaurant for even that long. To add salt on to the wound, they even automatically added their own tip which was just UNBELIEVABLE. This has got to be the worst place I have ever dined in and what a way to ruin our afternoon. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN. I have never left an AYCE restaurant still hungry. Honestly the food wasn't even on par with many other places like Gyubee or Shinta. This is very low tier. Do not even get me started on the sushi, its a disgrace to call it that. The rice was mushy with only a sliver of fish on top. They do not know what they are doing. Don't just take my word, you could tell from pictures from other reviewers.

Several years ago, this place used to be Gyukaku, which was an a la carte Japanese BBQ place with amazing quality meats and great individual meals (like their garlic fried rice and their ramens). They even had scallops! When Gyukaku closed down I was really disappointed but then I saw that they were going to be replaced with a new AYCE BBQ place called Gyuyaki and I was immediately curious. I've eaten here a few times and I can honestly say this place carries the torch really well. To start, they have an amazing salad bar with many options, from seaweed to mango salad, with additional toppings and sauces, as well as soup (I love their lobster bisque). They also serve tea and have a desert bar as well. Their food selection is amazing, ranging from your typical Japanese BBQ staples to some more niche items (such as the prince fish that they have, which I've never had before). Their menu also constantly updates which is a plus. The meat quality is amazing. I particularly like their chicken and their lamb. Their sushi is on par with a lot of dedicated sushi places, and they serve some really interesting rolls (such as the truffle wagyu and the scallop sushi). They also have some nice appetizer options, like tofu bites to fries to tempura. Their menu is huge, and you can really keep coming back here and trying something new. The service is very good and the staff is attentive. Last time I went, there was a lady making sure every table had napkins. The restaurant has a very modern look with the bar and the seating. Overall, a really nice place to get Japanese BBQ and it is conveniently placed near Mississauga City Centre.

We went there for a weekday lunch so indeed there is no line up and less people. However, the salad/soup bar area was not ready by noon. That area should all be ready to go at noon, including hot and cold drinks. I guess it was not managed well. After getting food from that area, it was yummy, especially the pickled radishes and mango salad. The servers were all good and it was easy to get one over. They even changed our grill top without us asking to do so. Many meat choices to pick from, including 5 beef type for the lunch menu. We loved the beef ribs. The scissors came in handy to cut the meat apart. They gave us a hard copy of the menu which was much appreciated as I didn't want to touch my phone throughout the meal. Lots of choices for dessert!! They even have a shaved ice machine!! I wished it had tapioca and some chopped up fruits to go with it. Overall, it was a great experience. We did have to pay for our bills on time, but they didn't kick us out. They have free underground parking - just remember your license plate.

Gyuyaki Japanese BBQ & Sushi in Mississauga is such a fun place to go when you want something different from the usual dinner. It's an all-you-can-eat Japanese BBQ experience where you grill your own meats right at the table, which makes it super interactive and perfect for going with friends. The space feels modern and lively, and the whole vibe just makes the night more enjoyable. The menu has a lot of variety; beef, pork, chicken, seafood, plus sushi and other Japanese dishes. So, you can try a bit of everything. The meats are fresh and flavourful, and the sushi is a nice bonus on top of the BBQ. The staff are very friendly and there's 4 hours of underground parking available.

Came here for lunar new year and the meal was pretty good. A good selection of different types of meats and the beef was really good. A little disappointed by the lack of seafood they have on the menu and the sushi was ok. They have an all you can drink if you follow them on Ig. They also have apps, soups, and drinks on the side for self serve. The place itself is really big and has plenty of seating. They also give free parking in the garage. Service was good. But sometimes it can be slow as the servers won't be too nearby.

Various food on the grill (tip: be careful with really thin slices of meat since they can get stuck to the grill or fall through)

Executive Summary/TL;DR: Excellent food quality, diverse selection of meats, sushi, and sides, friendly service, and solid value. One of the better Japanese BBQ AYCE spots in Mississauga. Background: I wanted to try this newly opened all-you-can-eat Japanese BBQ restaurant that replaced Gyu-Kaku at the same location. I'd eaten at Gyu-Kaku a few times (here and in Toronto) and liked the food, but the lack of AYCE made it feel expensive. Booking: I called Gyuyaki about a week ahead to reserve for 3 people for lunch on a holiday. They sent confirmation texts and reminders closer to the date. You need the Yelp app to reply/confirm (reply with 1). Not sure what happens if you don't confirm, but I didn't test it. Parking: Same as before -- 4 hours of free underground parking (you only get 2 hours to eat). We parked at Square One instead since we planned to shop afterward. Entry: Easy to find with big branding on the building. Enter through the main Sussex Centre southwest entrance -- there's a large logo right beside the bubble tea shop. Ambiance: Dark interior with mostly black decor and purple accent lighting. A bright LED light shines directly above the grill. Dining Experience: We arrived a few minutes late and the place was already packed even though it had just opened at 12 PM. After giving my name, we were seated quickly at a window table with comfortable cushioned seats and plenty of space for bags. The grill was already preheated -- a nice touch. Service: Our waitress was friendly and patient. She clearly explained the system: no paper menus, just scan the QR code on your phone. You tell her what you want and she orders via iPad. She was proactive about checking for the next round, swapping the grill net when needed, and clearing plates. We got a polite 1.5-hour time reminder, by which point I was already very full. Menu & Food: There's something for everyone -- beef, seafood, sushi, veggies, fruits, snacks, rice, and noodles. We chose the 2-hour all-day menu over the shorter lunch option for more variety. We skipped pork and chicken and ordered a bit of everything else. Portions are small (about 5-6 pieces per plate), but you can order multiple rounds, so it adds up nicely. The self-serve station has appetizers, drinks (including plum juice and green tea), and four ice cream flavors. Everything we tried was delicious and well-seasoned. The sushi and takoyaki were especially good. Tip: Avoid ordering very thin meats as they can stick to the grill or fall through. Bathrooms: Four individual bathrooms (one out of service). One is all-gender. Clean and decently maintained with Dyson hand dryers. Value: Our bill before tax was ~$138 ($45.99 per person for the all-day menu). A 15% tip was automatically added, which I found a bit annoying but fair given the excellent service. Overall, better value than both Gyu-Kaku and Gyubee. Would definitely return.

From the moment you walk into the office building entrance, you can see the smoke fill the lobby as you walk towards the doors of the restaurant. Upon arriving, smoke filled the entire restaurant.... Now imagine making a reservation , only to be seated 45 minutes after your reservation time. I get that restaurants get busy, and you might expect to receive good service upon sitting down but no... We sat down, were ready to order within 3 minutes, and it took 25 minutes for someone to actually take our order. This is after we tried to flag multiple servers down (the ones with iPads) , and they either pretended not to see us (even though we made eye contact), or they simply told us to wait, and never came back. After placing our order we eventually started to get our food ... 20 minutes after ordering. So here we are sitting there ready to grill and our grill won't even heat up because we are sitting at the table closest to the open door letting in cold air.... All because of the poor ventilation of this place. Honestly you are better off going someplace else if you're looking for AYCE grill in Mississauga. Ps: for the photo you're getting a picture of an empty grill and lettuce (free to get yourself from the salad bar). Food: 2/5 Service: -100 for the slowest service and waiters who don't care Atmosphere -10 for overly smoky restaurant

New place that took over gyukaku! I enjoyed the food and glad that it's around the corner! I love how they have sushi just wish there were a few more options. Service was great and the place was clean!

Very good selection of meats. The best was the salmon, and everything was well seasoned. You do have to make reservations, not sure if you could get a table if it's not made. Very attentive staff.

Excellent food quality, great service and lots of variety. Seating time could be a bit longer. Birthday gift for the birthday person and they sing and bring out a dessert with a candle. Thank you, will be back. Loved the beef tataki, pineapple was also delicious, Shrimps were good quality.

Hot and sour soup was so good

Word of advice: make a reservation! We showed up 20 mins late and unfortunately they had given our table away. Which, I understand, we were late. They were beyond busy when we got there. But let me back track a little, it was so hard to find this place lol. That contributed to me being extremely late, because I couldn't even find the place. Anyways, the hostess was incredibly nice and apologetic about the table being given away. She said it would just be about a 20 min wait before they could give us a table. Again, completely fair and my friend was still on his way any way. They gave us priority as soon as a table opened up and sat us right away. We didn't realize there was a lunch menu and an all day menu. We opted to just do the lunch menu since we just wanted to order beef, for the meats. We ordered all the beef's and ended up getting multiple rounds of the short rib. That was hands down the best cut out of all the beef. Tbh, the rest of the other ones all tasted the same. I know the appeal of this place is the salad and soup bar and dessert area but I honestly barely touched anything there. That's just me personally, as nothing appealed to me. The best thing they had though was the hot and sour soup. This was soooo good and made exactly how I like it. I got multiple bowls of this. We didn't even eat any of the dessert cuz none appealed to us. The ice cream flavours they had were, matcha, vanilla, mango and some other one. But they didn't even have chocolate?? C'mon. The 2 fountain drinks they had (I forgot what they were called) were disgusting lmao. I'm sorry. Maybe it's an acquired taste or you have to be familiar with those drinks. In the display case they have a bunch of different yogurts. Again, none of these desserts appealed to us. Our server was extremely nice and sweet too. Overall, service was super satisfying. I wouldn't say Gyuyaki is top tier JBBQ though. I'd still prefer Gyubee or even Takumi. In terms of Asian BBQ places overall, Daldongnae is top tier (I know it's KBBQ). The Instagram/tiktok hype is real with this place but I don't think I'd come back. I was glad I was able to experience it though!

This place is our new favourite Japanese BBQ restaurant because they have so much to offer! From JBbq to premium sushi rolls. We absolutely loved everything especially their soup and dessert stations. The restaurant has a nice decor, very spacious and clean plus their friendly staff are very attentive. Lots of parking spaces, just make sure to park at 90 Burnhamthorpe.

I love food and many kinds of desserts and drinks in this restaurant.

Big mistake. On Nov 25, 2025, I ordered the MC5 Maki Combo (24 pcs) -- California roll, dynamite roll, spicy salmon roll. What arrived was a disaster: tired-looking sushi, off flavors, and a wasabi that came out as a strange dark green slime. I forced down a few pieces; my wife couldn't eat hers at all. To make matters worse, I was burping an odd flavor for hours afterward. This wasn't just disappointing -- it was unacceptable. After years of giving this place chances, I'm done. Sushi should never feel like a gamble, and I won't be rolling the dice here again.

The caterpillar role is pretty fat and so each piece is a mouthful. The maki are smaller, nicely rolled, and well balanced. It's a very nice assortment. They use a good amount of topiko in the sushi, compares to some places that skimp or skip it all together. We ordered by phone and pick up was ready in under 30min. As per covid restrictions, only 1 person is allowed inside at a time. The entrance opens to a pick up window. Not much else going on inside. Very happy with the delicious meal!

Highly recommend that & the black forest roll as well! They also have a great seasoning selection, definitely a wider variety than your average spot and their ponzu is so much better than your standard brisket sauce!! Service was friendly, efficient, and attentive. They did a great job at keeping our table clean, waters topped up, and grills changed when needed. Seating is ample and comfortable. Also LOVE that they had Melona as one of their dessert options even though we were too stuffed for anything sweet towards the end. 4.8 stars but I'm still giving 5 only because they didn't have beef belly (BRUH) which is a KBBQ/JBBQ staple ;-; and my personal favorite, otherwise would be a solid 5.
