This place has staying power in a city where restaurants can come and go in less than 12 months. As the sign on the window says "Since 1979", they've been here with the same owner. They are for sure the best subs on the beach. If you're looking for the modern decor and neon lights of the commercial sub chains, you will want to keep moving. If you're looking for fresh, made from scratch subs that are local favorites then try this place out. This business is one of the reasons that my family has made an annual trip to Myrtle Beach for over 30 years, and will continue to do so. My personal favorite is the hamburger sub off the grill. This refers to the meat used, it is not topped like a hamburger. The in house toppings used make the sandwich one of the best anywhere. I will be back as long as Mr Sub is in Myrtle Beach. read more

Pretty good subs, definitely better than the likes of Subway etc. but not stellar either. I'm a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and when I saw the Steelers paraphernalia decorating the walls, I wanted to like this place more, but can't go higher than a 3 star. Wife and daughter split the super sub they said "ok" ordered it w/o vinegar and oil, but came with it anyway. Not worth the effort sending it back. I had the cheesesteak. Liked it. I liked the toasted bread texture of my sub. Potato salad said dill potato salad, but I thought it tasted more like your standard mustard potato salad with some pickles mixed in. I did like it... better than just getting chips. Bottom line is if you are debating on going to subway or some other fast food sub place and are close by, I'd come here instead. But with all the restaurants in the area, I'm guessing there are better sub shops / delis, but this is the only one I've been to in the area. A myrtle Beach landmark! Did you know that Mr. Sub's has been in this same spot since 1979???? We were saddened by the closing of the other stores, especially the one in Surfside on hwy 17 and Dick Pond Road across from Ocean Lakes Campground. The decor is old & can probably use an overhaul to bring it up to now. It's a busy place. Since 1979, this family owned sub shop has uses the same toasted sub rolls and the same tasty grilled steak and mushroom with it's toppings. Loved this non-chain sub shop! Excellent service and absolutely delicious cheesesteak subs. I had the steak and mushroom small sub. My boyfriend had the large cheesesteak. We had everything on them (followed the instructions of another yelper and "let the man make the sandwich the way he imagined it"). Wow!!! Best cheesesteaks we've both had in a long time. I've been here many times over the years, starting with the year they opened in 1979 as a college student. So, it's about time I posted a review. I always order the same thing, sandwich #17 on the menu, hot steak and egg sub. Comes out toasted, with plenty of steak, egg, lettuce, tomato, and onions grilled together with a generous splash of oil & vinegar. You won't see anything fancy here, plain booths, food served on paper plates, Three Stooges décor, but it's neat and clean, friendly service. Same guy has been running the place forever, so it's always consistent. Do yourself a favor and pass on by the chain sub shops and eat here instead. Well worth it. read more

Very bad. From the good ratings on Yelp and Google I assumed they would be at least decent. The family and I walked into the place and the floor was filthy. The person behind the counter said absolutley nothing to us and did not seem very friendly. Most of the subs we had were ok but the turkey was disgusting: The worst possible cold cuts. My sis and I stopped in here right before closing. It's a humble little place with Three Stooges sign decorations everywhere. Cute, you can tell somebody's a fan. It's run by a father son team I believe, and this sorta set up my expectations for great quality and service. Service was great, the boy who handled the register was friendly and got it down all right. I ordered the mushroom and steak sub with everything but vinegar and oil which was pretty good. I especially liked the way the meat was seasoned. My sister ordered a pizza sub, which was just sub bread with some pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices, I don't think that particular sandwich was worth the cost.
