Grabbed a quick lunch with my wife, she got her country on and went all in with the Darlington 500 a massive 1/2lb slab of deep fried bologna and onion rings. I opted for the Texas bbq burger with onion rings. Both sandwiches were good, the onion rings were huge (unfortunately so much that the batter didn't really stick. The service, we had a young man that was still in training but was very attentive and polite. They have peanuts available on the tables and a good bit of peanut shells on the floor. Didn't see any type of warning about this (doesn't mean it was not there just that we didn't see it) if you are allergic be warned. read more

All I ordered was cheese fries...easy-peasy, there's even a picture on the menu that states 'melted shredded cheddar'. I waited 25 minutes for fries, in a to go box, slathered in canned nacho cheese sauce. My friend got a burger and onion rings...only plural because she received two rings. My fish was delicious!!! It was seasoned very well and had a great crunch on the outside. I didn't care for the garlic Parmesan fries tho. Just a personal preference. I wanted to try something different, just not my thing. My server offered to replace them with something else so I thought that was thoughtful. My daughter didn't care got her chicken nuggets but I tasted them and I liked them order good paired with a dipping sauce. Her dad liked his burger but said it could use some seasoning on the meat. We went there for lunch. We tried their burgers and they were really good. Fun place to eat. They give you peanuts in their shell and it's pretty cool because you can open the shells and throw them on the floor. My wife had a big salad and Fish and chips. Our server was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Definitely a fun place to go for lunch. read more

Long line of people outside was a good sign that this was still a sought after restaurant. Food took a little longer than we cared for but it was all very delicious. We had burgers and fried shrimp. Walking into restaurant staff was friendly and engaging. The atmosphere was hyped with sports on television and families eating and socializing. The food came quick, hot, and delicious. We stopped by River City Café and loved it! There's a huge outdoor seating area with a fun beach vibe ... and don't forget to bring sharpie because you can write on the deck!. The staff was so friendly and attentive, gave great menu suggestions, and kept our drinks refilled the whole time. We ordered the cheese puffs (not pictured because we were too excited and dug in right away - SO good!), the Buffalo Chicken Burger, the Smashburger, and the Shoestring Burger. The portions are enormous and everything was delicious. For how much food you get, the prices are incredibly reasonable. We'll definitely be back! read more

We had a great experience at River City Cafe! We were able to sit outside, and with the nice breeze, it made for a perfect meal. I ordered the Ranchero BLT Burger, and it was absolutely delicious--juicy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. The onion ring was huge, crispy, and wasn't greasy at all. My husband ordered the Peachy Chicken Sandwich, and after stealing a bite, I completely fell in love with it! The combination of flavors was amazing, and it was just as delicious as my burger. Our waitress was amazing! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed, which made our visit even more enjoyable. This is my new go-to spot whenever I'm in Myrtle Beach! My Mom was craving a burger and this place was highly rated. We decided to give it a shot. The parking was a bit tricky but after entering I was told that there's additional parking behind the business. The waitress was really nice and chatted with us as we decided on what we wanted. There were seats outside and every table was full. We wanted our food to go so we ordered at the bar. I LOVE the decor style indoors. There are license places everywhere. I think that's very cool. I ordered their Peach Hot Chicken sandwich and cheese curds. The chicken sandwich was DELICIOUS!!!! Whatever sauce they used was so good. The cheese curds were yummy as well. We showed up here one evening as we searched for somewhere open without a huge wait. Somehow we missed the rush (as the server said.) They were open and there was no one there. I was afraid we had came in on them cleaning, but it wasn't time yet. They were still totally open. We nearly had the place to ourselves and it was heavenly! We were sat immediately and served right away. I tried a sandwich, which I don't remember the complete details of but I remember it being so tasty and toasty. I also had onion rings that were so big and so good! I also love the cups we could take with us. I'm all about reusing and this was excellent to take back to the house where we're staying at to use the remainder of our stay. Highly recommend! read more

We heard this location had the best burgers in Myrtle Beach and they were not lying. I got the nacho burger . My girlfriend got the dill pickle burger, which has fried pickles, some pickle sauce, etc. very good burgers price wasn't too much. My family and I are in town on vacation and wanted to eat at a local place. River City Cafe seemed to have a great vibe and the menu online looked like it had some great burger options. Google said they closed at 10pm we arrived at about 8:35/8:40pm. They were busy when we arrived and were told it could be 30minute wait. We were seated after about 20 minutes to an outdoor table. That's when it all went downhill. We were given our menus when seated, but that is the last we saw of anyone at our table. Other tables around us were being served, cleared off, checked on, given refills on beverages, while we just sat there. No server, no one coming to take our order, none of the other workers even acknowledged that we were sitting there twiddling our thumbs without even a drink. I tried waving down another server, but wasn't seen. After at least 20 minutes I finally got up and went to the front desk and asked the host if a server had been assigned to our table. He apologized then went and got our server. She came out immediately and seemed to be in a good mood. Asked if we wanted to get drinks, we told her we were ready to order our meals (after all , we had sat for 20+ minutes at this point). Dee kindly took our orders. Then brought us our drinks. We then waited over 35 minutes for our meal to come out. During this time, we were never visited to see if we needed drink refills, or to let us know that the kitchen was busy and that our food was coming soon. Finally our food came out. She got my husband a refill (he had to ask, she did not offer) and then we didn't see her again outside (I could see here waiting on a couple tables inside the building, but she never came outside to check on us). A few minutes after our food arrived my daughter noticed that none of our meals came with the slaw. We were not told it wouldn't be coming and were not given the option to get something else instead. I tried to wave down other servers since ours was MIA, but was ignored. I finally shouted out to another server to see if she could check. She did go to the kitchen to see, but only told us they ran out, and didn't give us the option to get something else in it's place. She also seemed annoyed that she had to answer our question and didn't apologize that we didn't get everything we were paying for. We finished eating, I needed a refill but never got one (I got the jalepeno burger and it was very spicy, without a refill...I decided to only eat half and take the rest home). Since I now needed to take home my burger, I needed our server to bring me a box. At this point, every other customer had left and we were completely on our own outside. No servers, no customers, no host. We waited for about 10 more minutes hoping someone would see us out the window or come out to clean off the other tables, still NOTHING! I finally got up to go inside to get someone (we honestly considered just leaving since they didn't seem to care about us anyway, but our conscience wouldn't allow us to do so). Low and behold our server was coming out just as I was heading in. But she didn't seem like she had even remembered that we were there, it seemed like she was just coming out to clear off other tables or something. She got me the box, brought us our bill. I checked the #s, but the total seemed high (but didn't do the math in my head - felt rushed by the server since it was at least 10 minutes past closing time). We paid the bill and left. Got to the car and my son did the quick math for me and we must've been charged a credit card fee??? I know that is common now, but I didn't see it posted anywhere nor were we told there would be an added fee. This was our first and last time at this establishment. There were many great reviews, so maybe we just had a bad experience, but it was multiple bad experiences all in one night. Guests should NEVER be ignored. read more

River City Cafe is amongst my favorite places to eat in Myrtle Beach. In my opinion, it is the best burger you will find. The prices are great for the portion and taste. The inside is decorated really cool, and there are dollar bills all over the walls. You can leave one yourself if you like, after decorating it. I ordered a regular cheeseburger with blue cheese and my desired condiments. It was good. I like my burgers, simple and sauce. It did what it was supposed to do. First visit to Myrtle Beach for a family vacay and River City came highly recommended by my dad, specifically for the onion rings. River City is clearly a tourist favorite - the place looks busy every time we passed by. The restaurant itself is not huge and has outdoor seating, but the service was definitely timely considering. Our waitress (I hate I forgot her name) was super chill! She was very down to earth and clearly knew the menu and process very well. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. Listen, the food is filling! You will not be disappointed. My sandwich was meaty - great bread to meat ratio. And the chicken was evenly coated with enough sauce which was great in comparison to sandwiches I've had in the past. The onion rings were truly impressive. I'm used to onion rings being hard to pull/cut apart or simply falling apart. Firstly, the rings are definitely HUGE! Whatever coating they used maintained a nice crunch and the ring could easily be sectioned apart. We'll clearly be back to River City whenever we come back to Myrtle Beach! read more
