Mr.Sub Vancouver,bc classic "Assorted" subs foodieatlarge.yelp.ca
Brianm ..

There is def a valid reason why some things continue regardless of obstacles and barriers where many others have not. Value and fair return is gr8 but more often than not, it's about what keeps u coming back for more. Fresh crunchy produce, savoury luncheon meats, just baked bread....these r what ur mouth demands and why u keep coming back! Mr.Sub has always been ahead of the curve since 1968 and this enduring experience is what makes the difference between the plasticky bread and fake filler protein merchant of the mass market big boys who dominate the submarine sandwich business. Let's look at what is different at Mr.Sub,... Value is still ahead of the pack at under $9 for my fave 12" sub which is the classic "Assorted" on a cheddar bun. Salty rich rwa meats ( raised without antibiotics ) in all ur preferred Salami,Black Forest Ham and luncheon meat fillings. None of this "mock" meat as used by the competition...and the bread is real sans the plasticky bits in another sub chain. I so dig the clean pure separated tastes of the crisp cold lettuce, the ripe tomatoes, the thin sweet onions seasoned lightly with that herbasicious signature ' 68 sauce. A perfectly arranged culinary symphony composed of choice salty meats laying atop of a creamy bed of smooth cheesy notes all harmoniously combined in perfect pitch and tuned to ur demanding tastebuds! So satisfying with pure simple time tested flavours executed flawlessly by happy ppl who dig their gig makes all the difference. These r the differences that keeps Mr.Sub heads and tails above the rest. Mr.Sub,... *another spectacular Canadian independent Sub master! Mass market sucks period...support local independents. Other sub companies, u have been served,...literally. Know what others have been digging since 1968. appy Noshin' Brianm foodieatlarge.yelp.ca * curious as to the asterisk? Dante Italian Sandwich - Italiana and mortazza $15 each

Delicious sandwich of generous portion! I ordered the…read moreItaliana which comes with prosciutto crudo, prosciutto cotto, stracciatella cheese, truffle spread and arugula. The taste of the fillings was very well balanced with nothing being overpowering. I could taste every single ingredient yet they went together very well! I particularly liked the stracciatella cheese. It added a fluffy and soft texture to the sandwich. The shop was small, cozy and well decorated. There were some available seats when I was there at around 1:30pm. There was no line as the peak lunch hour had passed. They made my sandwich immediately so I didn't have to wait at all.

Italiana was so good. Double Prosciutto!! Truffle flavor was strong and paired with stracciatella cheese. What a great combination! And Arugula was very fresh. Foccacia was very crispy outside and soft inside. One of the best sandwich. I will order again. Monte cristo was also good. Grilled bread was very crispy and nicely pressed. Provolone and prosciutto cotto combination was great, too. Sundried totamto provided great accent. I will order this one again, too. Overall, it was a great sandwich shop. Highly recommend.

Located beside Hell Crust (former Fresh Slice) underneath Cineplex in Metrotown…read more Plenty of parking as it is inside the mall - has about 5 tables from what I can recall. You can hear the music from the mall , however i don't believe they had any of their own tunes playing. You can easily have a conversation here. However, because of the small seating/eating area, you will sometimes have other customers staring you down to leave so they can take your table. It's a busy mall I get it, but please don't be the person staring others down. Service was okay, nothing special, they greet you and you order , followed by waiting for them to call your order number. Ordered the Cowboy - with the fries and drink add on to make it a combo - and found it to be on the pricier end of things. After taxes and "Tip" it was nearly $25. Some may say that is average , it's in the mall , rising costs and such, which I understand. But I just didn't feel like the portion or quality measured up. Fries were okay , tasted like Kirkland Costco fries - nice crisp - however seasoned poorly as some pieces were way to salty , while others just tasted like a plain potato. The cowboy mentioned crispy onions - did not taste any of that - Spicy BBQ sauce was on the sweeter side. - the bun was pretty dry - and the fillings were lifted , and wasn't actually enough to fill the entire sandwich. Can of mountain dew - well it was a canned drink so it was fine. As there is tons of other food options in the mall - i will unlikely visit this one again. Hope everyone else has a better experience , if you decide to give it a go.

My order: -Japanese Style Cheesesteak: my personal favourite - juicy sautéed mushrooms & onions, aged cheddar, wasabi mayo and of course premium ribeye steak slices. It's saucy, and the cheese blend enhances the flavour. -Koagie (Korean Hoagie): Kimchi was good (not too sour or spicy), so I could comfortably eat it. -New Yorker: the classic if you don't want to venture away from a "normal Philly cheesesteak" - topped with fresh tomatoes and lettuce Overall, the hoagie roll was soft on the inside, and a good chewy texture on the outside. I reheated mines in the microwave, and it still tasted good several hours later. These cheeseteaks are more saucy than the traditional cheesesteaks, which I personally enjoyed as every bite was filled with flavour. Very filling - best to share if you want to try different flavours. I also really liked their assortment of cheeses (no fake Cheez-Whiz stuff, sorry if you like that though), I think they use aged cheddar, provolone, and some others in a cheese blend. They definitely don't cheap out, and use a generous portion of tender/sliced prime rib steak. All cheesesteaks are made-to-order on a grill when you place your order. -Onion Rings: skinny-style -Deep Fried Pickles: good thick cut of pickles to breading ratio -ACC Fries (Garlic Butter & Parmesan): classic thick cut fries with a very "potato-y" flavour -White Chocolate Blueberry Milkshake: quite sweet, definitely for people that have a sweet tooth Also, I definitely have to mention the house-made sauces, they're so good for dipping the onion rings, pickles, and fries (cheesesteaks were saucy enough, so I didn't need it there). My personal favourites were the roasted garlic aioli, smoke Chipotle BBQ (not to overpowering or salty), and mustard (real mustard seeds).

The street-side entrance is pretty sketchy-looking and we totally went by the place the first time even though we were looking for it because of how barricaded-up it looked. But once you get inside, it's very cosy. There's a huge electronic menu right behind where you order, which is great. I don't have to dquint to read everything! For sure a small place, they have quite a bit of selection for food. The banh mi comes as just a sandwich or as a meal with spring rolls and a can of pop. I got the garlic beef one which was amazing. They are very generous with the meat, mine had at least 4 or 5 whole slices throughout. My boyfriend had the deluxe classic which was also delicious and huge. Takes me at least 3 bites to cover the width of the banh mi to try all the toppings! I definitely want to go again and try the lemongrass options next time.
