Amazing Italian food in an unassuming hole in the wall. Came here for a quick dinner and we had the lasagna as well as a calabrese pizza. The lasagna was incredible - honestly I think the best lasagna I've ever had. And the pizza dough was so light and airy it took me by surprise. I wonder how they achieved this texture. Came here for a second dinner with my partner and was pleasantly surprised. The service is extremely quick and the pasta is not only affordable, but very delicious. We got the rigatoni with Italian sausage. It comes with a very ample amount of sausage pieces. The sauce was really good, although a little too salty for my preference. And the pasta was a really delicious al dente. I really liked the chew to it, but it was a little too hard for my partner's preference. Understandable but it was still good for my soft mouth. The menu has quite a few options for such a small place, but we ended up getting the rigatoni and pappardelle with peas and asparagus in truffle cream. I really loved our meal here and I'm super excited to go back. They don't have a website (although they have a FB page and are pretty active on Insta). You can order pickup or delivery which is very handy. We ordered a few paninis, pasta, and salad and the whole time, I kicked myself for not getting a pizza. The Caprese (Nonnas pistachio pesto, tomato, arugula, fiore di latte formaggio, extra virgin olive oil) was light and fresh. Nothing crazy or overly heavy and was a good addition to the rest of the order. My friend got the Nonnas Meatball Panino (slowly braised in nonnas tomato sauce, topped with provolone and parmigiano cheese). She said it was delicious and the meatballs were flavourful and a good size. One of the best things was the Panzanelle Salad (Mixed greens, fior di latte formaggio, toasted bread, tomatoes, red onion, red wine vinaigrette). The salad was light and so flavourful and fresh. It accompanied the heavy pasta we paired it with. Which takes us to the Pappardelle (Peas, asparagus in a truffle cream). There was no asparagus and it wasn't overly truffle heavy but was so delicious! The pasta was so fresh and had a perfect chew. It was a huge portion and really perfect! We requested some bread and the bartender brought us plate of light crunchy bread. Our waiter seem inexperienced and brought a small bowl with 4 chunks. We also tried their tableside tiramisu and cannoli. Tiramisu was good but cannoli was so so . Waiter could use a bit experience as coffee with cream and other with Splenda was brought to table already premixed. He was personable . Very awesome pasta spot! It looks a bit of a hole in the wall (not dingy or anything, but very small and a little disorganized at the time that I visited - might not always be that way), but the pasta rivals much fancier Italian restaurants, not just in taste but also in presentation! I got the ricotta herb gnocchi and with just one bite I realized that I hadn't tried really good gnocchi up to this point. The gnocchi were so soft and almost melted in my mouth as I ate. Served in a delicious pesto cream sauce with sauteed vegetables. I especially liked the fennel. This dish left me feeling satiated but not heavy - it was a perfect portion size and also made right. I am not exaggerating when I say that I could've gone to a high-end Italian restaurant and been served the gnocchi exactly as it was and left very happy. So $18 for this is kind of a steal even if it's not budget pricing. I had a tiramisu for dessert - I love tiramisu and didn't realize they had it here so was pumped to try it. The dessert cups are prepared in plastic cups designed to be easy to take to go, so the presentation is obviously not as fancy as you get with the pasta, but still delicious! The cream had a great depth of flavour that you don't get with cheap tiramisu - it's the real stuff! This was $5, which is also a great price since it's cheaper than basically any dessert you'll get in a sit-down restaurant and tiramisu in particular can get expensive to make, so you know they're not overcharging. The caring service was another pleasant surprise given the size of the space! I and other customers were greeted very warmly when we entered and sent off graciously when we were leaving, the person who took my order cleared and wiped down the counter for me so I could sit without me saying anything and was really apologetic about the mess in a good-natured way, not the stressed-out food service worker way, though I assured them it was totally fine. And food will be brought to you if you dine in. Everything is made to order so it's not instant, but they prepared my food as quickly as I could reasonably expect it to be put together - I wasn't keeping track but it probably took about 10 minutes, if that. Lovely lovely place and I highly recommend! I'm not in this neighbourhood often but I'll definitely want to come back if I'm nearby again. read more

I haven't gone to a new restaurant recently but I heard of Nonna's Cucina from my friend's friend so I decided to recommend this place to my company's manager. We had the rigatoni and the chitarra. The portion size of the chitarra is a good size for a lighter eater. But if you want something more substantial I would go with the rigatoni as the portion is much bigger. The taste for both dishes was excellent and I would recommend it. One thing though and it's not the restaurants fault but there isn't too much sittings and I saw people lining up grabbing for take out. If only the restaurant were bigger than take groups of people would nice otherwise it's more of a quick lunch or dinner to go. I would give 4.5 stars but yelp won't let me so I'll round up. I just happened upon the restaurant and decided to do some take out. I ended up ordering three different dishes and everything was quite tasty. My only issue was that the pasta only had two meatballs and it just didn't spread enough for my meal. We cannot say enough about the team at Nonna's Cucina and the quality of their food. Especially the Pizza. We recently used Nonna's Cucina to cater for an 80th Bday party for about 50 people. The order was ready on time with no delays or issues and was as tasty as can be. The pizza was truly the hit of the party. They have many other delicious items as well on their menu and I recommend it all, whether you're stopping for lunch, picking food up for dinner or planning a party.
